Become an !aura! movie critic

Will the writer's strike ruin the Oscars?  Guess that depends on your priorities, plus whether or not you're reading auras yet.  Which is the best part of the show for you, usually?

A. Finding out who actually wins.

B. The dopey introductions by the stars.

C. The clothes, the hair, the glamour.

D. The acceptance speeches.

E. The tradition of hanging out with friends, watching together, even partying.

No matter how you answered, should the writer's strike continue, I have a solution for you.

a. Who Wins

You just know that whether or not a special Oscar broadcast is televised, somehow those reticent, modest, humble stars – and their agents – will find a way to let you know who wins.  For starters, there will be TV news, newspaper news, and bloggers like me at Deeper Perception Made Practical.

The biggest fun about who wins is when you get to root for your personal favorites in each category.  Still, this year's entries have no "Lord of the Rings."  I can't remember a more depressing batch o'flicks since I started watching the annual broadcast.

"Juno," an offbeat comedy about teen pregnancy, is the only remotely uplifting entry among the major contenders.  Sob!

Whenever movies are dull or dreary, at least auras of the actors won't lose their luster.  You win whenever you read them, whether you're watching TV, big-screen movies, even still shots of the actors doing their thing.

Just yesterday, while I worked out at the gym, a TV screen in the background showed Oprah interviewing Bette Midler, including some performance clips.

Why is she called "The Divine Miss M"?  The answer becomes obvious when you follow the cascading streams of God connection.  They pour out of Bette's aura, filling the room.  Her antic expressions while performing turn moving, once you feel the bliss that she has learned to carry.

How would you hold your face under that weight?

And what sightings of golden statue can equal that spiritual uplift?  Star power in action--viewing that, you become the winner.

B. Star Chit-Chat

When those silly dialogues precede the reading of nominations, who cares?  Many of us do.  It's family reunion time with America's big extended family.  Unlike our real families, these folks dress nicely, bicker cutely, and never drink too much.

Yes, one might miss that kind of reunion, preferring it over the assembled real-life crowd at Thanksgiving.  In that context, I recommend the 18 short chapters in Let Today Be a Holiday, where I help you to deal with "Family of Blood" and to gather "Family of Choice."

Meanwhile, regarding this year's Oscar broadcast, there's a silver lining to the writer's strike.  So what if this year's chit-chat sounds dimmer than ever?  It's only fair that writers receive their share of royalties.  The stars and studio executives make so much more money, it's ludicrous.  Personally, I feel good about sitting out shows like this due to the strike.  It's a way for audiences worldwide to show solidarity with America's writers.

C. THE GLAMOUR

Watching those gorgeous outfits, of course it's big fun when you do manage to watch the Academy Awards.  Millions of dollars have been spent for your delight.  Still, if you're smart you'll also read the aura beneath that $30,000 makeup job.  In most cases it's far more interesting.

Now, I don't recommend that you watch auras constantly.  When a show is well done, it's fun to immerse yourself in the illusion.

Also, I don't recommend that you ever read auras in violent movies.  I don't, except for reading the still shots needed to read this year's nominees for Best Actor and Actress.

But you'll find huge glamour in the auras of most top actors, just as there is real talent.  Can you draw more inspiration from reading people in other occupational groups?  Sure.  I'd especially encourage you to read astrophysicists, astronauts and athletes.  Still, top-notch actors and other performers are also on my A-list of auras worth reading.

D. ACCEPTANCE SPEECHES

Regular viewers may not be terribly impressed by these short recitations.  But I have to tell you, for this aura reader, acceptance speeches are absolutely the best part of any competition like this.

It's worth learning to read auras from a screen just so that you can share in the glory.  If you're an empath, so much the better.  Do an empathic merge NOW, during those precious minutes of bumbling reading from a crumpled piece of paper.

May all of us come to feel about ourselves the way those winners do!  Feel the show glow in depth and detail and it could be a great lesson.

E. TRADITION OF FRIENDSHIP

Don't let the writer's strike stop you. Bring over your usual Oscar-watching crowd, only this year read each other's auras.  Then move onto the stars.  That could be so much better than critiquing the costumes, hairdo's and hairdon'ts.

What's your best way to get started, if you're not an aura reader yet?  I'd recommend Cut Cords of Attachment: Heal Yourself and Others with Energy Spirituality.

It includes a new and super-easy technique for reading auras.  You'll also learn more about your personal gift set for reading auras.  Plus this is the book where I pioneer the concept of reading 50 databanks in any major chakra.

If you like Swooney Clooney now, you will enjoy him so much more after you've dipped into his aura.

FEELING A RECESSION INSIDE?

Coinciding with all the political talk of economic recession and stimulus, many people are really going through it these days.  Maybe the cause is financial, maybe not.  Your friendships or health or plans for self-growth could be in a slump.  Purification for all of humanity is amped up now, as we hurtle (or stumble or scream) toward the year 2012.

For an American, it's easy to keep score.  That's just one extra presidential election away.

Wherever you live, you may know that sages from many traditions, East and West, have predicted that 2012 represents a new start for humanity   There has been talk of a golden age.  Or a clean new calendar.  Or a thousand–year blip of Sat Yuga in the midst of Kali Yuga.

If the ancient sages knew our post-modern lingo, they might have called these leading-up years, from 2007-2011, the lucky years when "The S___ Hits the Fan."

How do I, personally, feel about living during these tumultuous times?  I'm no longer a true believer the way I was back in 1974, when my guru, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi had me meeting with government leaders.  Yes, I asked them to join me in celebrating "The Dawning of The Age of Enlightenment."  My Massachusetts colleagues and I actually managed to extract support for "World Plan Week" from three Boston-area cities.  We felt sure that a glorious time was approaching.

I vividly remember meeting with the Mayor of Salem because, beneath our pleasantries, I had a creepy feeling that I had been met with Salem officials before -- only with a rather different outcome.  Surely you've heard of that historic favorite known as "Witch burned at the stake."  But in 1974, I left triumphantly, head held high, and a signed proclamation in hand.

Fast forward 30+ years and I'm no longer so absolutely positive that humanity is headed for all-bliss-all-the-time.  Nor am I blissfully confident that the goodies will arrive punctually on the stroke of Happy New Year about four years from now.

Yet I am one sure of one thing, sure all the way down to my core.  I have come here to help during this time of transition.  Many of you zine readers feel the same, I know.  None of us can tell for sure what the outcome will be, this lifetime.  Yet we are here, standing for peace, and willing it with every fiber, ever cell.  Deep down, recession can't touch us.  As World Servers we say, "God, thank you so much for the privilege of serving You here and now."

Yet every World Server has a human life, too.  Even the spiritually strong aren't exempt from recession.  So please remember these resources:

Two major workshops are coming up this month. Each is offered only once a year, and it's not too late to sign up for one or both of these rare opportunities.

More about this workshop at Rose's blog

The Empath Empowerment Intensive will move you forward by half a year in your development as a skilled empath compared to simply reading Empowered by Empathy.

If you're among the 1 in 20 people born as an empath, it is imperative that you learn how to stop taking on other people's pain.  Turning your gift(s) OFF is delightful, actually, not like taking medicine.  After making this knack come alive, we're going to play with the other aspect, doing dedicated empathic merge, where you safely turn your gifts ON.  Details are here for the Intensive, scheduled February 8-10.

ENERGY HEALING WORKSHOP

Spiritual Healings With Deeper Perception

Weekend Intensive

FEBRUARY 29 - MARCH 2, 2008

 STERLING, VIRGINIA

The Energy Healing Intensive offers you an enormously powerful skill set.  For most people, 50% of the suffering you experience in everyday life comes from various kinds of astral debris, like the negative thought forms received from people you love.  In this weekend course, you learn how to diagnose and quickly release these aura-level influences.  Once you own the skill set, keeping clear is easy.

If you have ever tried to shield yourself energetically, I have to tell you that this doesn't begin to do the job.  But the techniques in this Intensive will.  And as people around you go through accelerated healing, you will be so glad to be able to help them as well as yourself by using these energy healings.

This Intensive is scheduled to start on Leap Year Day, Feb. 29.  How perfect is that!  We'll be taking a big leap forward into greater spiritual empowerment... and not just for yourself.  If you do any kind of therapy, energy work, or readings for others, this skill set is a must.

!AURA! MOVIE CRITIC SEEKS BEST ACTOR

In each category, the winners are… the chakra databanks I am choosing to read in this article.  So much information is available for you to read from auras, in person or from photographs.

Think you like movies now?  That's nothing compared to when you see the full show.  Aura reading is usually a practical skill, giving indispensible information for relationships and health, consumer choices and life decisions.

Yes, auras are seriously practical.  But they can also be divinely entertaining.  To celebrate this aspect, I have an annual custom.  I turn film critic, comparing auras of top-nominated actors with their auras in roles.

Anyone nominated for Best Actor or Actress has the technical skills down cold.  The voice, the walk, the imagination, the ability to make a role seem spontaneous and real.  But if you read auras you can find out something even more fascinating.  Who changes so deep, even the aura is altered?  What happens deep within chakra databanks, those very individual ways that an aura expresses our innermost truth?

Auras combine changing experiences with gifts of the soul, components that usually don't change.  But can a super talented actor change all the way down to that level?  Some can.

In this series, I research five ultra-revealing databanks on each nominee for Best Actor.  Read along with me, as I use a photo of each nominee as himself, then read those very same databanks in his movie role.

Until you are reading auras through a dedicated technique, try this short-cut.  Look into the actor's eyes, in the photo being read.  Then turn to the comments on one chakra at a time.  Alternating this sequence, you can taste the flavor pretty strongly.

No, this isn't an aura reading technique.  Instead, it's a super-scaled-down version of one of my techniques for reading the soul through the eyes.  You'll receive about 10% of the clarity from one of my dedicated aura reading techniques, but it's fun.  And it's a start.

Share your insights using this, or any aura reading technique, at my blog, Deeer Perception Made Practical.

George Clooney

In "Michael Clayton," Clooney plays a fixer at a powerful law firm.  Let's start by exploring him in the role of just George. Here's our photo.

Presence When Entering a Room at the Root Chakra

Clooney is a very physical guy.  It's immediately evident, and that first impression is strengthened by extraordinary, and androgynous, sex appeal.

The rush of testosterone hits this aura reader like a wave.  In the second wave, at Clooney Beach, bam!  Behold a very female quality, heart-centered, caring, and warm.

Does "androgynous" mean "neither male nor female"?  Not in his case.  Instead, Clooney is an equal-opportunity seducer, appealing to viewers of any sexual persuasion.  The man is just oomphy to the max.

Sex Appeal at the Belly Chakra

It is said that in life there are lovers and there are fighters.  George definitely is the former.  Aurically, he naturally gives a definitive performance.

Clooney cares.  Hugely dedicated to love, he shows his concern and compassion in a very human way.  Stellar qualities include kindness, affectionateness, genuine interest in others.

Handling Power in Tough Situations at the Solar Plexus Chakra

Humor and charm are Clooney's best assets.  Force isn't needed usually.  But his innermost quality at this databank is the strength of a tiger.

Emotional Connection to Other People at the Heart Chakra

Empathic abilities are uppermost.  The actor is also surprisingly open to others, while his ego is teensy.  Curiously refreshing!

Soul Development at the High Heart Chakra

George is a mature soul, loving by nature.  Upliftment, joy, sweetness are his soul-level specialties.

Now, drum roll please.  Or maybe, in Clooney's case, drum drool?  Anyway, here's the link to Clooney's photo as Michael Clayton.

Presence When Entering a Room at the Root Chakra

Here's a very physical guy pretending to be mostly intelligent, verging on nerdy.  Nice try, George.  This level of acting is on a par with having a body builder pose while wearing thick glasses and preppy clothes instead of the usual shorts.  After the pose registers, no discerning viewer will really be fooled.

Sex Appeal at the Belly Chakra

Aw, George hasn't changed a thing.  Did we really want that?  His gorgeous sex appeal is a major reason why we love him, right?

Handling Power in Tough Situations at the Solar Plexus Chakra

Craftiness is uppermost, and calculating coolness has entered Clooney's aura… sort of.  This is a pretty fake coolness. The shifts here are very minor and have a kind of camp quality, as if, "I'm just pretending to be this way -- wink, wink."  Basically, it's "Ocean's Eleven"-style acting, so I wouldn't call it a real change of chakra.

Emotional Connection to Other People at the Heart Chakra

Sorry, fans, but I've just got to laugh.  This is such thin layer of pretense at being not-cute but, instead, serious and bold.  No, I really can't count this as a change of aura databank, endearing though it is.

Soul Development at the High Heart Chakra

Clooney hasn't changed much here, other than trying to portray a really tough guy, a survivor.

Total number of chakras dramatically changed: Sigh, zero.

CONCLUSION: Obviously, Clooney is an empath in many ways.  He's especially strong at Physical Oneness, Physical Intuition, Intellectual Shape Shifting, Emotional Oneness and Emotional Intuition.  His auric presence is an inspiration, especially in the Sex Appeal Department.  As an actor, however he's not a serious threat to the other nominees.  The man isn't a threat, just a treat.

Daniel Day-Lewis

Just knowing his film role is in a story called "There Will Be Blood," some of us are gagging already… as we run out the screening room.  What, people are going to watch this movie voluntarily?

Seriously, I'm very willing to read Day-Lewis, first as himself, using this photo.

Presence When Entering a Room at the Root Chakra

Photographed as himself, the British-Irish actor sparkles and shimmers with glamour.  He deliberately hides his real self behind it.  I will respect that reticence and read no further here.

Sex Appeal at the Belly Chakra

Sexier than Clooney, I must admit—if you're basing your assessment on sheer quantity.  Lewis is in a category with Hugh Grant, with a five-mile-long projection of sex appeal.  What's the quality?  Daniel specializes in a very male and hetero kind of dazzle.

Handling Power in Tough Situations at the Solar Plexus Chakra

Clever, creative and resourceful, the actor is powerful because he doesn't rely on mere abstract power.

Emotional Connection to Other People at the Heart Chakra

This free spirit is hard to pin down.  Don't expect commitment from him in any relationship.  Part of the fun in life, for him, is that he can keep people guessing.

I also suspect that his mercurial role-playing abilities stand at the forefront of his life in general.  He depends on that wild actor's flexibility more than identifying with any particular set personality.  To clarify, I'm not meaning to imply mental illness or multiple personality disorder, just the creative lifestyle of an exceptionally versatile artist.

Soul Development at the High Heart Chakra

This ancient soul is having great fun, quick-silvering his way through life.  Daniel may baffle those who join him for everyday conversations because he doesn't especially identify with his human personality.

Now, here's the actor playing Daniel Plainview, a ruthless oilman:

Presence When Entering a Room at the Root Chakra

Scary, yes.  The actor is like Death Incarnate, dressed up as human.  His character also thinks so fast, he's like a kind of mental athlete.  Thank God, yes, this is a chakra change from D-L's business as usual.

Sex Appeal at the Belly Chakra

As the bad Daniel, the actor's sex appeal seems small.  There's that menacing, ruthless quality that would constitute a danger signal to any lover who craves happiness.  (Finding hidden, dangerous qualities like these portrayed here in a date--that is one of many benefits from learning to read auras if you are single.  Otherwise lovely people can have something similar. In real life!)

Thank goodness, this counts as a drastic change of chakra for the real-life Daniel.

Handling Power in Tough Situations at the Solar Plexus Chakra

Simple but effective artistic choice here: If the man isn't getting what he wants, he will kill.

Here's another sizeable chakra change.  Not my kind of fun, but hey, to some people that's entertainment!

Emotional Connection to Other People at the Heart Chakra

The character is hard-hearted, wounded, and bitter.  It's a powerful portrayal and, definitely, not the real Daniel's normal chakra databank.

Soul Development at the High Heart Chakra

Naughty Daniel is portrayed as a very young soul, totally a me-first-er.

Total number of chakras dramatically changed: 5

CONCLUSION: Yes, Daniel Day-Lewis has created a complete makeover.  It's consistent.  But the chakra choices are all extremely simple, verging on cartoonish.  For this type of movie, of course, it may be perfect.  How much nuance is there going to be in a movie called "There Will Be Blood"?  Does this audience really want subtlety?

Johnny Depp

And speaking of blood, here comes "Sweeney Todd The Demon Barber of Fleet Street."  English majors will not like this movie, whose title is sadly lacking a comma.

In some places, the title is presented with a colon after the main character's name.  That's not going to satisfy English majors either.

Let's start with the fun of reading the actor as himself, using this photo.

Presence When Entering a Room at the Root Chakra

Depp's huge, glowey presence is a lifelong gift of the soul.  Along with that gift, unfortunately, he carries a great deal of "stuff."  Quirks and unresolved problems have made him all the more human, and he has a definite preference for smashing people's boundaries.  Risk taking is also very pronounced throughout his aura.

Sex Appeal at the Belly Chakra

He's sexy, big sexy.  He's wild, very wild.

But caution, caution!  I'd better warn you right now that, in case Johnny asks you out on a date, you might want to think twice.  Only the most uninhibited need apply.

Handling Power in Tough Situations at the Solar Plexus Chakra

Depp's risk-taking proclivities are his biggest asset here.  He's daring, but with a quality of death wish that I find disturbing.  Still, the actor has survived thus far, and done pretty well for himself.  If, along with his soul-level talent, his aura carries destructive debris, Johnny Depp has known how to contain it, even focus it, to augment his career.

Emotional Connection to Other People at the Heart Chakra

Essentially kind, Johnny also shows evidence of a deep melancholy.  He isn't fighting it either, but rather decorates it with a cynical pose.

Soul Development at the High Heart Chakra

I'd have to characterize Johnny Depp as a teenage soul, having a most courageous and interesting lifetime.  Rather than range as an actor, he brings a willingness to risk all, show all.

And here, if you dare, is Depp in his star-and-slime turn as a murderous barber, for which we'll consult this photograph.

I'm guessing that the character's lunacy isn't revealed this fully throughout the whole movie.  Otherwise where would be the drama? T he audience gets to see the character go from "normal" all the way -- far out -- into this monstrous kind of lunacy.  But a photo like this is best to read, isn't it, to gauge how far Depp is willing and able to go, inhabiting the role and, possibly, also shifting his aura.

Presence When Entering a Room at the Root Chakra

Small, angry and scary, that's Depp.  Yes, you can count this as a change from his chakra business as usual.

Sex Appeal at the Belly Chakra

Small, scary and sadistic, now there's a switch!

Handling Power in Tough Situations" at the Solar Plexus Chakra

Menacing, Depp plays a very, very bad boy.  Count this as a change too, fortunately.

Emotional Connection to Other People at the Heart Chakra

Cold and bloodthirsty — congratulations, Kid.  This is one of the most repellent movie creations I have ever seen.  If you're a connoisseur of evil, you'll surely enjoy it.  In this portrayal, Depp lets out all the decency stops.

Soul Development at the High Heart Chakra

Depp does his best shifting here, at this chakra.  Not only does this character seem to have less soul development than the actor, but it's a soul dedicated to evil.

Total number of chakras dramatically changed: 5

CONCLUSION: With his risk-taking qualities and personal melancholy, it's clear that Johnny Depp will be a favorite actor of many.  He has done a terrific job here, although it's not a kind of terrific that I, personally, would choose to watch.

Tommy Lee Jones

Tommy uses a boy's name, just like Johnny, but let's see if he's a different kind of boy.  "In the Valley of Elah" the actor plays a Vietnam vet who searches for his missing son, a soldier in Iraq.  Here is our research photo of the actor.

Presence When Entering a Room at the Root Chakra

This chakra databank reminds me of the song "I'm not as young as I once was, but I'm as young once as I ever was."  The actor isn't at his most vibrant, yet he has such wonderful qualities: Humanity, humor, courage, and the intent to help others.

And dare I say it?  I enjoy reading this chakra on a big star whose career doesn't mostly depend on raw sex appeal.

Sex Appeal at the Belly Chakra

This is a man who enjoys his sex life.  He doesn't disguise this, aurically, but neither does he flaunt.

Handling Power in Tough Situations at the Solar Plexus Chakra

Jones embodies a traditional ethic about manliness.  In a tough situation he will protect and defend.  It's about honor for him.

Emotional Connection to Other People at the Heart Chakra

Altogether, this actor displays strong introvert qualities at his heart chakra.  With this databank, he's going to be highly selective about which people he chooses for personal friendships.  But then his capacity for intimacy is huge, and loyalty matters immensely to him.

A typical actor he's not.

Soul Development at the High Heart Chakra

This sweet old soul is really enjoying his life these days.  He has found a way to live his personal values, even in Hollywood.

Now let's compare Tommy's aura in his role as Hank Deerfield, using this photo

Presence When Entering a Room at the Root Chakra

This character is concerned and troubled, all the way down to this chakra.  He's got a cause, verging on a mission.  Even if we knew nothing about the sort of mission, what's so lovely about this chakra change is that the mission isn't about ME-ME-ME.  Thank you, Tommy, for showing an altruistic kind of chakra change.  You won't find it, for instance, in any other nominated role for Best Actor this year.

Sex Appeal at the Belly Chakra

Oboy, this is a powerfully attractive characterization.  I'm reminded of another country music song, applying to this character.  The gist of this song is, "Honey, now that you and I have just come back from a funeral, I'm reminded of the fragility of life.  Aren't you?  So let's have some urgent, hot sex."

Only with the character, as designed by Tommy Lee, the appeal seems way more believable.  Hank Deerfield is a sexy man who finds consolation in sex, and he won't accept help any other way.  Ladies in the audience, you feel so sorry for him, wouldn't it be great to help him out?

With a chakra change like this, it's a shame that each theater can't take a survey after each performance.  "Will all willing females sign up if available?"  For volunteers in that fantasy survey about a fantasy, I'd predict a big turnout.

Handling Power in Tough Situations at the Solar Plexus Chakra

Curiosity and bitterness lie on the surface.  Deeper below is rage.  All three sources of power motivate this character with compelling force.

Emotional Connection to Other People at the Heart Chakra

Being so troubled about his son, this character isn't connecting emotionally to anyone else, not any time soon.  At this heart chakra databank, I find the equivalent of a "Vacancy" sign.  This, of course, is a very appealing change for countless male viewers.  What fun to identify with a very decent character, sexy as a guy can be, but, sorry!  He has no time or energy to deal with mere feelings.

Soul Development at the High Heart Chakra

Jones is actually reaching above his personal soul age for this role.  The character shows a nobility, wisdom and strength of a more ancient being.  Bravo!

Total number of chakras dramatically changed: 5

CONCLUSION:  Yes, Tommy Lee Jones changes all these chakras.  I should note that, with the exception of the last databank read here, these changes are an extension of his regular personality, not a completely creative invention.  Still, Tommy is hardly the first movie star to earn fans by playing, mostly, himself.

Viggo Mortensen

No Fellowship of the Ring for him, this time around.   Instead Viggo's part of the mob, as the handsome actor turns henchman in "Eastern Promises."  Let's begin by reading the actor's aura as himself, using this photograph.

Presence When Entering a Room at the Root Chakra

It's a big, sumptuous presence, very virile, very physical.  He's comfortable in his skin, living larger than life… but sincere.

Sex Appeal at the Belly Chakra

Viggo is another one of those movie stars whose sex appeal is so strong that it's hard for other people to handle.  Think you would like to meet him, maybe ask for his autograph?  I guarantee, with the kind of sexual charisma in his aura, you'd find it a weird experience.

During, or afterward, you'd worry if you were making a fool of yourself.  Visible sweat, weak knees, losing your normal ability to talk like a grownup, and if you're male that cute way guys can show that they're interested (regardless of your normal sexual persuasion).  Being in the room with someone this sexy will turn just about anyone into a fool.  Easier to read him by photo!

Doing that, you'll be able to notice the special excellence of this hunk.  He's very connected to nature, and sexy without pretentiousness.  Casting directors, take note: If you're looking for someone to play a Greek god, or another Force of Nature-type role, Viggo is your guy.

Handling Power in Tough Situations at the Solar Plexus Chakra

Courage and kindness show his caliber.  If you were fighting in a battle, you'd want Mortensen on your side.

Emotional Connection to Other People at the Heart Chakra

This actor does intimacy.  He does strong connection, either one-on-one or in a crowd.  Although Viggo's aura shows many empathic abilities (environmental, animal, physical, intellectual, and spiritual), he's strongest emotionally.

And for a fairly major movie star, Viggo is in remarkably good shape, emotionally.

Soul Development at the High Heart Chakra

Here's one more ancient soul who has chosen to come into this incarnation as an actor.  His high heart proclaims, "My mission is to wake people up, and help each one to restore his/her power."  Gentleness balances this call to power.  And right now, as an earth personality, Viggo is having the time of his life.

For his role as ambitious Nikolai, let's use this photograph

Presence When Entering a Room at the Root Chakra

Oh, yecchhh!  I mean, "Fine job, Viggo!  You've managed to turn yourself into an even bigger energy presence than normal, oozing the most oily charm.  You're like the walking personification of Exxon's Valdez Oil Spill."

Does this represent a significant change of chakra for you?  Yes, thank goodness.

Sex Appeal at the Belly Chakra

Small sex appeal, sleek and selfish – this is the fascinating artistic choice made by the actor.  It's the sex appeal of a bad boy, definitely a complete change of chakra.

Handling Power in Tough Situations at the Solar Plexus Chakra

Can a conniving bully be powerful?  Of course he can, in this role.  The actor portrays really winning mobster potential in this change of chakra.

Forget watching the movie, just reading this character's aura I feel like someone has just revealed way more about himself than I wanted to know.  I'm ready to tell this still photograph, "Thanks for sharing."

Emotional Connection to Other People at the Heart Chakra

What did you expect?  Of course this character is cold, calculating and self-absorbed.  Viggo has morphed again...

Soul Development at the High Heart Chakra

Bring on the perpetrator lifetime.

Viggo Mortensen's character is doing just what he came here to do, and it's very different from the actor's own personal mission.  This young soul is exploring the fun, and limitations, of a life as "Me first."  The ruthless ambition and actions to match – all of it thrills this character's soul.

Total number of chakras dramatically changed: 5

CONCLUSION: This is the most nuanced and interesting performance of the five nominated here for Best Actor.  Changes are both consistent and extraordinary.  Viggo had done the sort of acting for which, I'd say, it helps to have clear subconscious access to past lives.  But whether or not you believe in reincarnation, this lifetime he's definitely come here to be a superb actor.

INFORMATION AND INSPIRATION AT THE LIBRARY

Do you ever go to your local library?  If yes, do your community a favor.  Please reserve and check out any and all of these books by guess who.

!AURA! MOVIE CRITIC SEEKS BEST ACTRESS

As with our article on Best Actor nominees, until you are reading auras through a dedicated technique, try this short-cut:  Look into the actor's eyes in the photo being read.

Share your insights using this, or any aura reading technique, at my blog, Deeper Perception Made Practical.

Marion Cotillard

Let's begin with the one biopic in this year's nominated performances for which a photo is available of the original character.  That would be Edith Piaf, subject of "La Vie en Rose", played by French nominee Marion Cotillard.

Let's read Cotillard first, using this picture

Presence When Entering a Room at the Root Chakra

Her big, intense, emotional presence has interesting qualities of being authoritative, demanding respect.  And, of course, there's the Frenchly feminine factor.

Sex Appeal at the Belly Chakra

Huge as this presence is, I find uncommon warmth mixed in with the more typical actress quality of "Hey, pay attention.  Swivel your head."

Handling Power in Tough Situations at the Solar Plexus Chakra

Marion leads with her heart.  That's how she finds her strength, and I can find plenty of growth in her life, unmistakable signs of struggle and learning.  It is an impressive presence, blending great courage with an intrepid heart.

Emotional Connection to Other People at the Heart Chakra

Yes, she connects.  Yes (like all of the actresses shown in this year's group of nominees), Marion is most definitely an empath.  What strikes me most about her as an individual, at this databank, is the softness.  Even in public, she allows her heart to be open softly to others.  That gentleness shows that she has chosen, then learned, a great deal about how to trust.

Soul Development High Heart Chakra

Compassion is the signature quality of this super-evolved being, now having a super-duper lifetime.

EDITH PIAF

Now let's the same databanks on the real Edith Piaf, subject of "La Vie en Rose," shown in this photograph.

Presence When Entering a Room at the Root Chakra

Love her or fear her, Piaf is a walking embodiment of pain.  Picture someone so traumatized that she shouldn't be able to walk at all, yet she has regained the ability to move again.  Most of this pain has, clearly, been emotional because Piaf is so heart-centered.

Sex Appeal at the Belly Chakra

Ouchers!  Piaf's energy cascades like a fountain… of heartbreak.  She specializes in tragic romance.  It isn't an especially huge display at this part of the great singer's aura.  Still, the poignancy is so intense, listeners might not be able to handle any more of that kind of misery.  Think "lonely."  Think "abandoned."  Think "loved and lost."  Qualities like these form the subtext of Piaf's being and, therefore, her singing.

Handling Power in Tough Situations at the Solar Plexus Chakra

Power isn't huge, but again it's intense.  Piaf's dynamic is to struggle a bit, trying to stick up for herself.  But she's such a tragic figure, even to herself, that soon the struggle turns internal, even self-destructive.

Emotional Connection to Other People at the Heart Chakra

The chanteusse reaches out valiantly and oh, how she does need people!  Piaf has a huge, un-fillable void within.  If you should crave to be needed, you will fall in love with this woman.  And if you have ever felt that there never could be enough love in your life, you just might identify with this singer.

Soul Development at the High Heart Chakra

Edith Piaf has a gorgeously young-adult soul, specializing in romance and pain.  Her ability to give 200% through her art is reminiscent of Marilyn Monroe.

MARION AS EDITH

Now for the performance by Marion playing Edith, as shown in this photo

Presence When Entering a Room at the Root Chakra

Golly, I don't know whether to laugh or cry.  The resemblance to Piaf is uncanny.  This is the "Open up a vein" school of art.

Sex Appeal at the Belly Chakra

Here's a cute cross between Piaf and Cotillard.  The size of projection is way more like the film star, which means about five times bigger than anything managed by the singer.  But the quality's drastically altered.  Instead of Cotillard's usually happy, free-spirited sexiness, I find an imploring "Love me" connection to her audience.  This is way more fun to watch than the real singer's misery.  Yet it does acknowledge the bottomless pit of Piaf's torment.

This performer's choice couldn't be smarter.  Which kind of sex appeal would you rather watch for 10 seconds, let alone in a full-length movie?

Handling Power in Tough Situations at the Solar Plexus Chakra

Here comes the victim!  Cotillard has made herself quite Piaf-like, only the actress hasn't managed to contort herself into as much a victim.  Instead, there's a brittleness.

Not only does the quality impress me.  I'm fascinated that the actress has dared (and managed) to compress her normal power to about one tenth of its normal size.

Emotional Connection to Other People at the Heart Chakra

The match is perfect, only Marion has considerably more charisma… which, mes amis, is saying a lot.

Soul Development at the High Heart Chakra

Cotillard transformed herself into a younger soul, getting the soul age just right.

Total number of chakras dramatically changed: 5

CONCLUSION: This is a magnificent performance, with changes all the way down to all five databanks studied.  Cotillard did an uncanny imitation of Edith Piaf, yet she has made some smart artistic choices to make the character more appealing.

Julie Christie

In "Away from Her," Julie Christie plays a woman suffering from Alzheimer's disease.  That's a role that too many of us have seen played far less glamorously by real people, people we love.  But let's begin with pure inspiration, the aura of the gorgeous actress as herself, via this photo

Christie was "The Face of the Sixties."  What more does she have to offer than an enduringly beautiful face?

Presence When Entering a Room at the Root Chakra

Christie does power better than most actors, female or male.  A core toughness is combined with a presence that has true star quality, filling any room when she lets loose that presence.

Sex Appeal at the Belly Chakra

Despite her beauty, brains and fame, the actress has never married (although I have a hunch that she has managed to receive quite a few proposals).  But, in case you were wondering, Julie has a warm and tender style as a lover.  I note, however, that she seems to be extremely fussy about any companion.

Handling Power in Tough Situations at the Solar Plexus Chakra

Steel is here, or whatever your favorite analogy may be for extreme mettle.  Julie Christie turns to other people for strength, as well as finding true grit within.  Although she doesn't invite conflict, she doesn't fear it either.

You may know that Julie has been involved for years as an animal rights activist.  Given this aura databank, choosing a large and difficult cause like this one seems natural and definitely no mere publicity stunt.

Emotional Connection to Other People at the Heart Chakra

Few people will really get to know her.  Julie doesn't do intimacy much these days.  I say this based on the truly gigantic wall around her heart.  Think solid iron, five feet thick all around.  Beneath this, you'll find great sensitivity.  The flow of feeling seems reserved for very few people, mostly for her chosen causes and herself.

Googling around for a current photo, I read that the star has become disillusioned with movie making.  Based on this part of her aura, I'd say that she has become disillusioned with most people, as well.

Soul Development at the High Heart Chakra

Here we have one more ancient being.  Lifetime after lifetime of experience has been encoded in her soul memory.  Part of her gift as an actress is to subconsciously access all she has learned.

Now for the nominated role. Let's use this picture

Presence When Entering a Room at the Root Chakra

Julie seems robust, down-to-earth.  She seems as normal as your next-door neighbor.

Even more uncanny is how she carries so much trauma in her root chakra.  Whatever the back story is, officially, in the plot of this movie, the actress has researched the role meticulously, layering pain onto pain the way that a baker might build up a croissant.

Count this as a change down to the chakras and also one of the most complete transformations I've seen by any actor, any film.

Sex Appeal at the Belly Chakra

Sexual interest has been turned off and replaced by fear.  It's a fear of life, of moving energy, of anything taking her out of herself.

For an actress, this drastic change represents a most courageous artistic choice.  Sex sells.  Often a star will tone down other chakras but leave intact her sex appeal. And I've seen that choice win the Oscar.

Handling Power in Tough Situations at the Solar Plexus Chakra

Again, Julie Christie has squished down her aura.  It's as though she is an accordion player!

Power?  Tough situations?  This character tries to laugh off her difficulties, minimizing them (and herself) by willfully choosing the most superficial interpretation of any life situation.  Going deeper, this "choice" feels like the disease talking, rather than the will.

Thus, once again we have a complete chakra re-installation for this role, complete with complexity and daring.  Even to experiment with being this person would be a rude shock for any actor, akin to stuffing yourself inside a small box.

Emotional Connection to Other People at the Heart Chakra

If you can read this part of Christie's aura without wanting to cry, you're made of stronger stuff than this aura reader.  Two different modes are encoded here.

In one, the character clings to sanity through emotional connection to those she has loved.

In the other, the character loses control, spaces out, can't find sanity or earth connection.  As a heart-centered person, she feels too expanded for terror.  She's just crazy out-of-her-head through her heart.

Having witnessed my own father's decline (as recounted briefly in Empowered by Empathy), I have to vouch for the accuracy of this kind of portrayal.  This is just what happens when a person loses sanity by gaining senility.  It's an alternation of fear, when lucid, with fearlessness when not.

Once again, the actress has completely changed her reality all the way through to the innermost experience within her aura.

Soul Development at the High Heart Chakra

Julie has chosen to play a young soul, someone who will be especially terrified because she hasn't had so many experience of living and "dying" as a human being.  This is also a compassionate choice for viewers.  Audience members of any soul age will be able to identify with this character.

Total number of chakras dramatically changed: 5

CONCLUSION: The standard of artistry couldn't be higher.  Not only does Julie Christie portray a completely different person but she makes the sacrifice, as an artist, to dumb down and dull down her aura in pursuit of authenticity.

This character won't be as much fun to watch as Julie would, even if the subject matter were full of jollity, because bigger and happier aura displays are way more fun to watch.

Hollywood traditionally rewards when a gorgeous female star makes herself look physically ugly for a role.  Will Hollywood reward Julie Christie's kind of transformation?  It's subtler but way more painful, on the inside.

Laura Linney

I'm partial to this actress.  Having seen her in many roles, I consider her the Meryl Streep of her generation.  But how does she do in her role as Wendy Savage?  Here she plays a struggling playwright who must care for her elderly father and try to make her brother accountable.

First let's start with the fun of reading this star's aura as herself, using this photograph.

Presence When Entering a Room at the Root Chakra

Calm, collected and cerebral, Laura Linney is a technician.  Her presence, though larger than normal life, isn't quite up to the megawatt standard of a major movie star, including Streep.

Sex Appeal at the Belly Chakra

I find both tenderness and feminine vulnerability.  Once again, the display at Linney's aura is more intense than you'll find in most "normal" people but isn't huge enough to make her a standout among Oscar nominees.

In fact, this chakra databank is a make-or-break one for fame.  I've read many auras of actresses like Angelina Jolie who project loads of oomph, probably very unlike their (much smaller) personal interest in sex.  Typically, actors of either sex use their sex appeal to hook audiences.

Linney doesn't do this.  Her sex life stays private. That bodes well for her integrity as a person but may detract from her career.

Handling Power in Tough Situations at the Solar Plexus Chakra

She responds as an artist.  Vulnerability again!  This is no truck driver of an actress, more like a fine sports car.  She responds.  She feels.  In real life she's more likely to get hurt than to push.

What's the big exception?  Career.  If she needs power to do her art, that power will flow as needed.

In this way, Laura Linney is like many a musician, painter, writer or other type of artist.  As a writer and spiritual teacher, I can totally relate.  If you're an artist also, can you?

Emotional Connection to Other People at the Heart Chakra

Kindness is a very strong component of her nature.  Laura keeps her heart opened up, yet she can quickly withdraw if threatened.

What I like most about this databank is the naturalness.  Many a performer develops distancing or self-involvement, but this actor hasn't lost her humanity as a result of her work or her fame.

Soul Development at the High Heart Chakra

Here is a mature soul, very graced, an artist to her core.  Sweet!

To compare Linney's role as a playwright, let's use this picture

Presence When Entering a Room at the Root Chakra

In this scene from the movie, she's joyful and zesty. This is a carefree character… at this point in the film, anyway.

It's an appealing choice of chakra, and a definite change from Linney as usual.

Sex Appeal at the Belly Chakra

Does the chakra projection change?  Only by about 1,000%.  Now the sex appeal bounces across the room.  At this part of the movie, her attractiveness is easy, breezy.

Handling Power in Tough Situations at the Solar Plexus Chakra

One more switch: This character is a fighter.  In fact, her determination has a dozen nuances.  Yet Laura keeps a trace of her vulnerability in this role.  It's a very winning characterization.

Emotional Connection to Other People at the Heart Chakra

Porcupine alert!  "Suddenly" the actress has developed a sharp tongue, a sarcastic sense of humor, and emotional toughness with a strong defensive component.  Great for portraying a playwright, a great auric shift!

Soul Development High Heart Chakra

No real change shows here.  That loveable high heart stays exactly the same.

Total number of chakras dramatically changed: 4

CONCLUSION: Laura Linney's artistic choices are simple but compelling.  They add up to a powerful portrayal that is highly entertaining to watch, masterfully constructed.

Ellen Page

In "Juno" the teenage character deals with pregnancy.  Right away, that's fun for an aura reader because pregnant auras have double the fun, at least, of a normal aura.  That's why pregnant women glow.

I won't research whether Ellen Page manages this feat, because it would be impossible for even the finest actress.  But I will do the same sort of comparison I have done with actresses twice her age, or more.  Let's start by reading our photo of Ellen as Ellen.

Presence When Entering a Room at the Root Chakra

Strong and athletic, her body is naturally lean.  Besides the youthful vitality, Ellen has an adventurous spirit, plus a wacky, quirky sense of humor.  Soul-level passion is infused into her presence, all the way down to the root chakra.  No wonder her presence when entering a room is instantly unforgettable.

Sex Appeal at the Belly Chakra

Hot, electrical, wild, uninhibited – here is another plus for the young actress.  What I like best is the way she isn't using her sexuality in order to hook people.  (She's young, I know.  But if you don't think a sexy youngster can start prostituting herself before age 18, aurically, you haven't read many young stars yet!)

Handling Power in Tough Situations at the Solar Plexus Chakra

The young actress, while courageous, is still unformed.  She hasn't really been tested yet.  That's a good thing for her life thus far, but it doesn't bring depth to Page's acting.

Emotional Connection to Other People at the Heart Chakra

As a person, Ellen is caring and sensitive. vAt the time of this particular photograph, where evidently she is being honored, it's touching. vThe kid is emotionally overwhelmed and struggling not to cry or otherwise embarrass herself.

Soul Development at the High Heart Chakra

Here comes one more ancient being.  Fame at a young age is never an accident but, rather, part of a life contract. vAnd I just love reading the aura of someone whose contract involves major talent as well.

Next, for reading the role of Juno MacGuff, here is our photo.

Presence When Entering a Room at the Root Chakra

This character is fearless, inquisitive… and definitely NOT pregnant.  No change of aura shows here, but Ellen's normal aura databank on its own is uncommonly strong, and such fun to watch.

Sex Appeal at the Belly Chakra

In this photo, Ellen's exactly the same as usual, only with a fine coating of being a daughter instead of an actress.  The emphasis slightly subdues her natural high spirits.

Handling Power in Tough Situations at the Solar Plexus Chakra

Okay, here's our first chakra change, and it's a big one.  This Juno character summons up strength aplenty, with notes of vulnerability, sorrow, and outrageousness.

What I like best is the quality of rebelliousness.  This isn't your typical teenage breakaway-from-home rebellion.  What shows is a more considered, thoughtful variation on the theme of self-authority.

Emotional Connection to Other People at the Heart Chakra

Here's a second change.  It's subtle, but a maternal quality has entered the actress' aura.

You know how a woman who loves being pregnant will often hold her belly, patting it or otherwise making a quiet fuss?  That's what Ellen shows here aurically, and if she hasn't been pregnant yet in this life, the auric shift she has managed is especially wonderful acting.

Soul Development at the High Heart Chakra

Not much changes here.  Ms. Page's wisdom is very much on display.  Yet this creates a sweet blend with the other chakras that did change.

Total number of chakras dramatically changed: 2.25

CONCLUSION: It's delightful when youthful fame is accompanied by talent.  Here Ellen joins the ranks of Abigail Breslin, Scarlett Johansson, Keira Knightley, and Keisha Castle-Hughes.

Changing just a couple of chakras may not seem monumental, compared to what others have done in this mega-talented and experienced group.  Yet she did better than many of the nominees for Best Actor.  Besides, when you often read auras as we've been doing here, you'll soon appreciate how special it is to be able to change even one chakra projection while acting.

CATE BLANCHETT

In "Elizabeth: The Golden Age," Cate Blanchett does a great sequel.  But I do find one most unfortunate change that she hasn't done as an artistic choice.

First let's read the actress as herself, using this photo:

Presence When Entering a Room at the Root Chakra

Imagination and emotional life are strong.  Alas, the main Cate characteristic here isn't only her problem.  It's America's number one job requirement for actresses.

Extreme thinness isn't agreeing with the actress.  Note, I'm not officially accusing Blanchett of having an eating disorder.  Maybe she just hasn't had quite enough cookies.

Still, take another look at that photo. If it doesn't make you cringe, the good news is that you're well adjusted to America's vanity culture.  The bad news is that this part of our culture is crazy.  Specifically, we routinely disconnect the required outer appearance from what it would mean to live in a body reduced to near-skeletal thinness.  When more people read auras, more of us will hear that scream of "Feed me" and we'll stop confusing cruelty with elegance.

Yes, I'm very concerned about Blanchett.  That lack of enough cookies seems to be a more serious concern for her now than it was years ago.  Here's how I read her just a year ago, when she was nominated for her performance in "Notes on a Scandal."  Exploring the same root chakra databank that I'm reading this year, I wrote:

A strong person, of uncommon courage.  She is emotionally intense, also strongly empathic but very much in control of her gifts.

What a difference just one year can make, under pressure to make her body fit the super-thin actress mold.

Sex Appeal at the Belly Chakra

Blanchett is well endowed with sex appeal, and she knows how to use it to attract notice.  Aurically, that doesn't mean flaunting (at least not in her case).  She can project that sexiness with all the skill that a surgeon might use to direct a laser beam.

Beyond this gift of her soul, Cate Blanchett's sex appeal has a wistful quality, at least in this photo.  Despite her talent and renown, this actress does not seem to be especially happy.

Handling Power in Tough Situations at the Solar Plexus Chakra

What a warrior, fierce!  Reading here I'm reminded that we're seeing Blanchett as female only in this lifetime.  Yes, she's a woman.  Yes, she is hetero.  But this part of her energy field remains way yang.

Emotional Connection to Other People at the Heart Chakra

More self-absorbed than she used to be, I fear that Cate Blanchett expends a lot of her energy now in hiding her unhappiness.  Emotionally, she has to work hard to keep herself going as cheerful, professional, and dignified while in the limelight.

Soul Development High Heart Chakra

Here we have an ancient being, wise and service-oriented.  This ancient component witnesses a lifetime that is starting to turn the corner on tragedy.  I hope she will soon round that corner into a new and happier version of life.

In her role as Elizabeth, what is different for the great Cate?  Read this photograph to compare.

Presence When Entering a Room at the Root Chakra

Good heavens, this is sad. T he actress is working heroically to project personality into a tiny amount of root chakra energy.  She is trying to turn that small amount of energy into steel.

It's a valiant effort.  The best analogy I can make is to invite you to imagine a woman who once had a glorious, full head of hair.  Now her hair is thinning badly. She's styling it beautifully but the main thing you see is the wispiness.

Sex Appeal at the Belly Chakra

Excellent job here.  Cate has cut her projection of sexiness to about 25%, then turned it androgynous and calculating.

Handling Power in Tough Situations at the Solar Plexus Chakra

Gloriously, Cate has developed a character with a female kind of power mixed with incredible wiles.  And these aren't the so-called "feminine wiles."

Instead, this is a power dancer's wiles, where she looks in many directions at once, harnessing a super-quick reaction time, sophisticated beyond anyone I've ever met.  Dick Cheney, eat your heart out!

Emotional Connection to Other People at the Heart Chakra

Cool, verging on dominatrix – again, this is a complete change of chakra.  Scary but superb!

Soul Development at the High Heart Chakra

I'm fascinated.  Cate Blanchett has chosen to portray one of the great female rulers of all time as a very young soul, almost petty in her self-absorption.  Weird choice, but the actress has done a fine job.

Total number of chakras dramatically changed: 5

CONCLUSION: It's a bravura performance, alright. But I'm saddened by the change to the actress' aura in one short year.
