You could call it the stuff of science fiction, except when did spaceship travel ever help you to vote in a presidential primary?  

Being born as an empath isn't fictional, or even rare, since one out of 20 people has that honor.  Encoded in the finest levels of your aura, if you were born as an empath, you own a lifelong gift for directly experiencing what it is like to be someone else.  

Once developed, an empath's ability to read people is unsurpassed.  Whether healing others, dating, shopping or voting, you will go straight for the truth . Political spin, like many of life's money-driven illusions, will lose its power to deceive you.  

Moving your gift from glorious potential into a workable skill requires a little training, that's all.  Many of you zine readers have already received that training.  Either you have listened to the audiobook edition of Empowered by Empathy or you've read it or you have taken one of my Intensives. In this article, I'm going to do an empathic merge with photos of a front-running Republican candidate for president, Rudolph Giuliani.  Of late, he has been positioning himself in a way reminiscent of John McCain. Used to be, McCain strong point was being "The Forthright Candidate," trustworthy because he told reporters and audiences exactly what he thought.  

Even if you disagreed with him politically, you had to love the guy.  But McCain (whom I've read in a previous zine) has since waffled a bit, so Republicans have a new star in the "You gotta love him because he's so candid" category.  

Why do I notice spin-related things like "positioning" of political candidates?  Blame my living in Washington.  When I moved here in 1983, I barely knew what a newspaper was.  Now I feel bereft if I can't hear Diane Rehm's weekly news roundup.  In D.C., many so-called normal people start thinking like pundits — not just "What did he do?" but "What was his political motive when he did it?" 

But the ultimate punditry skills may come from Deeper Perception.  Certainly, it's a more direct way to get information than listening to sound bites.  You can read the candidate's face.  Or find comparison photos, and notice what physically changes.  Another way to use Deeper Perception is aura reading or an empathic merge.  I'll do the latter here, and you're invited to click on the two following photo links and read along with me.  

Our first photo pictures Giuliani as Time Magazine's "Person of the Year."  His was America's great, reassuring political presence on September 11.  As you may remember, Time put together a magazine cover with an easy-to-read, full-body view of the former New York Mayor.

First impressions matter, especially in an era of sound bites.  How does Giuliani present himself energetically?

As mayor: Strong-minded and touch, he's also kind.  Meet the avuncular Mayor, a man who commands respect because he's so very much in control of himself.

As presidential candidate:  Scariness alert.  We had better give the rest of this article a PG-13 rating! V iolence isn't here, but major power lust is.  Giuliani really wants to be president, and his personality projection has become bloated nearly beyond recognition.  Moreover, this ego-driven persona is a moving, shifting creation designed to give the public what it wants.

Once the first impression is done with, how does the man come across to others?

As mayor: Straightforward in action, for a politician he shows remarkably little façade. Rather than posturing, he's more apt to roll up his shirtsleeves and do what he says.

As presidential candidate: Sophisticated and wily, Giuliani presents himself as an adept candidate.  Instead of positioning himself as "Aw, shucks" Bush-style everyman, the former mayor has adopted a wily persona. Think Metterlink or, at least, Columbo.  

Sexual charisma, a Belly Chakra databank

As mayor:  Movie star-caliber charm shows in abundance.  Often a right cheek dimple is the tip-off that someone shows enormous charm in public.  I wrote about Giuliani's major dimples back in 1998, in the first edition of The Power of Face Reading.  Physically, those dimples have significantly faded as their owner's face has evolved, so let's be sure to check out sex appeal in the more current photo.

As presidential candidate:  If anything, the sexual charisma has increased.  This gives Rudy a distinct advantage as the sexiest Republican contender by far.

As mayor:  Strongly opinionated, he's vigorous and deft in execution.  Listening to others isn't a high priority but focus and clarity combine to make Mayor Giuliani an impressive player.

As presidential candidate:  Giuliani has become a deal maker.  Even if he doesn't sympathize much with opinions other than his, as a politician he has learned to play along.  Administrative ability is strongly in evidence.  If voters were discerning enough to read auras, they would recognize that Rudy's power style databank has evolved into one of the most desirable qualifications any presidential candidate could have.  

Integrity with power, another Solar Plexus databank

As mayor:  Will he do what he says he will do? Absolutely.  This is a shining attribute for Rudolph Giuliani.

As presidential candidate:   Oops, there goes the shine. Instead, I find an interesting combination of passion (about some causes) and ice (ruthlessness in the pursuit of personal ambitions).  Idealists would find this a loss, but many Republicans are pragmatists.  If you're a Dick Cheney fan, you will respect this new development in Giuliani's power style. 

Emotional strengths, a Heart Chakra databank

As mayor:  Giuliani is a stand-up, can-do kind of guy.  His emotions at the heart chakra show an unusually direct linkage to several databanks at the solar plexus -- for mind, intellect, and taking action.  Think of the best qualities you might wish for in your dog Fido.  Then imagine having them in a politician.  With one vote, that fidelity could be yours, proudly installed in office.

As presidential candidate:  Emotionally, he is unchanged.  Giuliani fans deservedly love this man's heart. 

Truthfulness, a Throat Chakra databank

As mayor:  Alas, the faithful dog analogy has its limits. As communicators, dogs are famously uncomplicated.  By contrast, the New York mayor communicates far more selectively.  He can shrewdly broadcast certain sentiments powerfully but without full disclosure.  Thus, this chakra display reveals that, when holding political conversations, Rudy can be admirably truthful, yet also unflinchingly withhold crucial information.  (If you wonder how Mayor Rudy managed to navigate a rather complicated marital situation, this part of his aura explains it all.)

As presidential candidate:  Pragmatism has, alas, come to predominate.  Giuliani will say whatever it takes to get what he wants.  Again, many Republicans will respect this auric adaptation.  Independents and Democrats may find it more sobering.  Power lust does change auras, and here it seems to have worked its sad magic over Giuliani's verbal integrity. 

Spiritual integrity, a Third Eye Chakra databank

As mayor:  Spiritually, Giuliani stands out as true front-running Republican candidate.  His connection to Source is lovely, large and absolutely genuine.  No posturing, bragging or hypocrisy mars the purity here.

As presidential candidate:  Rudy's connection to Source still is pretty darned good.  How can someone stay spiritually open even as he lusts for power?  We can take a cue from Jimmy Carter's famous Playboy interview, where he disclosed that he had lusted in his heart, but God forgave him.  I'm no expert on Rudolph Giuliani's belief system.  But his third eye suggests that he feels absolutely worthy of connecting to God, regardless of any stains, or stuff, mucking up aura.

Here we have one of the ironies about religion and spirituality versus the truth you will find when reading politicians' auras.  A George Bush style politician makes a big deal of his spiritual connection, yet it is not borne out by his aura.  A Rudy Giuliani doesn't brag about his faith, but lives it instead.  Which kind of politician would be better for America?  I'd vote for the latter in a heartbeat.

As mayor:  Yes, Giuliani is having the time of his life.  He knows what he likes.  He does it, too.  The proof is in the clear soul expression at his high heart chakra.

As presidential candidate:  Joy still predominates at this part of Rudy's aura.  Being in the political spotlight sets off an inner spotlight.  Whether or not Giuliani eventually becomes president – and regardless of whether he would bring a blessing or a blight on the nation, running for office suits him admirably.  Who knew that a tough talking New Yorker could enjoy such simple happiness?  Just being a contender thrills Rudy's soul.
