Media were exceptionally generous to Rose on her latest book tours.  In Cincinnati, ABC news taped seven different interview segments, including her first public reading of new Pope Benedict XVI.  (For the second, just keep reading this Zine.)  In Seattle, another network show, King TV, re-broadcast two segments from Rose for “Evening Magazine.”  On radio, she was re-interviewed by one of her favorite teams, Brenda Michaels and Rob Spears, hosts of Conscious Talk Radio. My reading follows.

Clearly Pope Benedict XVI has a face full of very’s, signalling talent galore—though not necessarily in the direction of humility.  Let’s start with his super-straight chin, which shows a gift for making decisions based on principle.   The potential challenge is inflexibility.   

His underbite relates to uncommon tenacity.   Ruthlessness is the potential challenge. 

Chin thrust on this new pope is so huge that even though profile photos are not available here, even in frontal photos you can see that his chin sticks out enormously.  Meaning?  In a competition, this man pushes harder than most.  The potential challenge is, you guessed it, scarcely excessive humility. 

Likewise, a profile view (though not available here) reveals that the Benedict XVI has enormous nose thrust. This suggests a destiny for work that affects many people.  Though a plus for his career, it’s a far distant cry from… humility.   

Funniest of all, if you look closely at these photos or have seen ones that show the pontiff’s teeth clearly, you’ll notice an extra-long canine tooth on the right.  This rare bit of face data is the deepest sign of aggression you’ll ever find on a human being.  Invincibility is a wonderful talent.  The potential challenge, however, is—dare I say it?—pushiness, not excessive humility. 

Easy to see from the links supplied here is the new pope’s power style.  Note how his forehead is wider than his cheeks?  The passion power style suggests a wonderful dynamism—especially if you share his agenda.  Meek and mild, however? No way. 

Frankly, it would be hard to find a face with fewer gifts for humility.  That’s why warning bells go off when the man formerly known as Cardinal Ratzinger makes a big deal about his meekness.  Ever hear of a wolf in sheep’s clothing? 

If you read auras, it gets funnier.  (Or sadder, depending, on how much you wish to affiliate yourself with this new religious leader.)  Three chakras on Pope Benedict XVI are particularly startling: 

At his third eye, note the talent for spiritual shrewdness.  

Far bigger is the power databank at the solar plexus chakra:  Here’s a man who delights in power and uses it adroitly; this guy loves to rule.  

Finally, check out that heart chakra. It’s as cold as ice.  So the Pope has more in common with Donald Rumsfeld and John Ashcroft than you might otherwise have expected. 

Is this the aura of a talented man?  Definitely.  But you have to wonder.  If more of the world’s 3 billion plus Catholics could use deeper perception, would their new spiritual guide present himself so disingenuously?

Why should courage matter now?  If you’re paying attention to political trends, you’ll need a very specific kind of courage: Spiritual staying power.

According to many and varied sources, a New Age of peace is coming… by 2012.  In that context, the world is proceeding nicely.  Collectively, and personally too, whatever stands in the way of enlightenment has to go. Does that necessarily mean a comfortable ride? Not for most of us!

Terrorism is one kind of bump on the human journey.  And anti-terrorist tactics may well be worse than any terrorist threats.

To smooth out your ride, here’s advice that comes from my recent experience reading auras and doing sessions of emotional and spiritual healing:  

Take appropriate action when you can but mostly you'll use your spiritual connection just to stay in balance.  Support others, even if from a distance, and expect a good outcome long-term.  Above all do not engage your energy in political struggles.

A NEW, TOXIC KIND OF CORD OF ATTACHMENT

Many otherwise peaceable people now carry toxic cords of attachment to politicians.  As someone who’s worked at cutting cords of attachment for nearly two decades, I must tell you that this is new.  How these political cords operate might surprise you.

But first, what are cords of attachment, anyway?  Any relationship that engages your strong emotions for more than a day will generate one of these structures.  The cords work like tubes, connecting some part of your aura to another person’s.  Energy patterns repeat themselves like a perpetual-motion machine, not the unconditional love in a relationship but all the stuff that isn't. Without active intervention, all cords of attachment will be with you until the day you die—even if the person at the other end crosses over to the other side.

Energy patterns in a cord guarantee an imbalance for both parties.  Beyond that particular relationship, the dynamics in a cord can affect all your relationships, exerting a huge subconscious influence on how you feel even when alone.  Cords can even cause chronic health problems.

One of the blessings about living now, on the cusp of the New Age, is that it is possible to cut cords of attachment.  And it’s so easy… Well, if someone has given you simple instructions for cutting your own cords… with all respect, that advice is probably unsound.

Cutting a cord properly is not easy.  It’s a highly sophisticated skill that requires all of this:  A considerable level of spiritual awakeness; specific kinds of spiritual and psychological discernment; technical training.  I’ve taught this skill to some groups of very advanced students. All learned a lot.  But ask any one of them how easy and simple it is to deal with cords in a responsible manner!

When cord cutting is done properly, you’re permanently healed.  The cord won’t come back and you’ll keep all the unconditional love involved in the relationship (if any).

Freedom increases, too, because cutting a cord of attachment doesn’t necessarily end a relationship.  For example, spouses often have them cut so they can have a better marriage. Without their cords, partners are free to reinvent how they relate to each other.  No longer are they pulled and tugged energetically by old karma.

While I’ve been cutting cords professionally since 1986, the widespread presence of political cords is, as I’ve noted, recent.  Here is a typical example, from what I found with a client I’ll call “Harold.”  His cord to President Bush featured a thick, black, heartless kind of energy, utterly cold, flowing into Harold.  My client was sending out light, valiantly trying to help.  But his personal light was quickly swallowed into the darkness.

What was the consequence for my client? Harold was chronically drained.  Moreover, he developed back problems right where the cord was attached.  With the cord gone, Harold will have more spiritual stamina; he’s more likely to make progress at healing the back ailment, too.

What if you suspect that you might have a political cord of attachment, whether to an individual politician or an entire administration? You’d be wise to get help from someone with the training to find out for sure, then remove any cords that drain you.

Another thing you can do is use deeper perception on politicians, corporate leaders, relatives—anyone in a position of seeming power over you.  You’re more apt to be sucker punched by someone who seems benevolent but isn’t. My reading of the new pope, earlier in this Zine, was intended as an example of the gap there can be between hype and reality. Believe me, I would have preferred a reading that praised him to the skies. 

Deeper perception can help you find the truth in any situation. Mostly it will bring you joy. But you can use it for practical life as well, and has the ability to discern truth ever been more indispensable than now?

Transcend Terror

Friends have fun, sometimes, arguing about politics.  Well meaning activists hope to make change by converting the ignorant or indolent.  But beware conversations that enflame your political passions.

Likewise, it’s smart to avoid media that hook you in.  Even sources that previously may have seemed “fair and balanced” may be that no longer.  CNN plays nonstop at my health club. For years, I’ve watched the cable TV show during my workouts.  But CNN has headed red. Last time I watched, I noticed that every commentator was a conservative of some sort. In that 60 minutes, CNN showed exactly one 10-second (!) clip of one non-conservative.

In America, there’s a longstanding tradition of showing two sides of a story.  Now that often is framed as debates between far-far right and merely far right.

Many of our public radio shows, long lambasted by conservatives as too liberal, are going red, too.  Would Diane Rehm dare have someone like me on her show now, the way she did years ago?  Maybe not.  Gone are the friendly days of yesteryear.  I’ve heard guests on her show “debate” points of view between super-conservative and somewhat-conservative. Hello?

Having a good laugh is one thing, but if you start to get angry at things you can’t fix, it’s time to turn that radio off.  Old ways of regaining balance may not work in these strangely polarized times.  When you become emotionally engaged, any cord of attachment will intensify its hold on you. Of course, conversations with friends about fear or victimhood will produce a similar consequence.

As one of my students suggested, “Time to reread The Roar of the Huntids.”  This work of fiction, written in the 1990’s, satirizes the kind of political situation you’ll find in America right now. And the story, in which an empath triumphs, could help you take heart.

What else can you do if you don’t welcome America’s slide into right-wing plutocracy?  Shine your light where it will make a difference.  Political activism is one appropriate choice.  Another is to sit back, do what you can on voting day and otherwise stay out of the conversation.  In other words...

VOLUNTEER WISELY

What about prayer?  How about transforming people?  Your spiritual volunteer work can help enormously.  Just remember to avoid sending out your own light, as Harold was doing.  If you find yourself in a difficult situation, call on a Divine Being, ask for help and put that Being in charge.  Someone like Archangel Michael has access to stores of energy way beyond those of any single person, however well meaning.

If you’ve studied Reiki healing, you know the principle:  Fill up first.  Don’t try healing others until you’ve been attuned/awakened to a degree where the first person to receive the flow of light is you.  Then you can give from abundance, without danger of depleting your own life force.

The more I travel, teach and do sessions, the clearer it becomes.  Human volunteers succeed most when we do the equivalent of setting up a conference call.  Three cheers for your more-precious-than-you-might-guess human experience! It has positioned you to identify problems, care about people’s feelings sensitively and, in general, notice nuances that would seem trivial to a Divine Being.

Remember, that super-high-vibrational archangel or ascended master is full of light, love and power but is not human.

You, on the other hand, have had extensive training in being word-made-flesh. Those tears, those fears—yes, they’ve helped you to become acutely aware of problems specific to human life.  Experience like this makes you superb as a spiritual volunteer. You can spot a problem, then set up a "conference call" to bring in appropriate help.

You see, those things that matter to you really count.  Just don’t think you must solve them alone.

Using your human smarts, set up the conference call. Think the name of an ascended master, like Jesus, Ganesh or Kwan Yin. Or invoke an executive angel like Archangel Michael, who removes what doesn’t belong.  Think the name once and know that you are connected.

Pour out your heart or simply give a short message.

After you’ve asked for help, let go.  Yes, the most effective helpers go free.  Be that free spirit and you’ll be most effective at bringing the light that dispels terror.
