In this issue: THE FACE OF A FIGHTER: SENATOR JOE BIDEN
Curious about Senator Biden? Many believe that one reason for his choice as vice-presidential candidate is his foreign relations experience. Here's one aspect of that experience where Biden trumps the competition: Among the various candidates, he's the only one with a child going to serve in Iraq, a son who looks very much like him. Beau Biden introduced Joe Biden at the Democratic Convention. Reading faces, let's explore the senior Biden's most distinctive attributes, plus a few other very interesting facial characteristics. We'll be using my system of Face Reading Secrets® on these photos:
BIDEN'S BIGGEST ASSET Nose padding is my name for the flesh that brings width, from the bridge of a nose all the way down to right before the tip. Joe Biden happens to have more of it than any other major Democratic player in Election 2008. Besides being a great asset for Biden, I'm delighted to read this item of face data as a way to smash a stereotype about race. Maybe you've heard the notion that African-Americans have wider noses than others. There's even the (disgusting) expression "Black nose." Well, for my entire career as a physiognomist, I've done my best to explain that racial stereotypes are just plain wrong, as are expectations that certain physical traits must be inevitable because of age or weight. Skin color is like the icing on the cake, beautiful or tasty in its own right. But it tells you nothing significant about that cake. So let's consider how much skin color tells us about facial characteristics.. Specifically, check out the very full nose padding, starting right from the bridge of Biden's nose. He has more nose padding than any of these: For a great example of small nose padding, compare Biden to "The Decider," President Bush. The talent with large nose padding is preferring to work cooperatively with others. The potential challenge? It's having trouble if you must work in solitary confinement – probably not a likely problem for a veep. Biden is one of those rare folks who probably PREFERS to start a major project by discussing with a committee. Based on nose padding alone, Biden was a great way for Obama to balance the ticket. I'd consider John McCain's greatest facial talent to be his generous nose padding. He's got nearly as much as Biden! The unfortunate liability Yes, in old photographs Biden shows a mouth pull when smiling. (See my two-part blog post concerning the dismal consequences for integrity with a mouth pull, whatever the cause. You can see Biden's right-pulled mouth in this photo.At least the mouth pull isn't there when he talks. In fact, I watched Biden's mouth closely during the his speech at the Democratic convention and didn't see mouth angling at all, either in speaking or smiling. Like Hilary Clinton and Al Gore, these politicians have mouths that have become straighter as their careers have progressed. If time permits, I aim to do a detailed blog post on this issue, so stay tuned to Deeper Perception Made Practical (or, for a blog-screen instead of a TV screen, I guess I should invite you to "stay clicked.") Other interesting data on Biden's face includes: Lowbrows, eyebrows close to the eyes Talent: Spontaneous speech. Can think well on his feet. Potential Challenge: Blurting out his true feelings. (Alas, with Biden's crooked smile, this is unlikely. Frankly, I would prefer the challenge.) High ear on the right Remember to cross over, as if shaking hands, to tell left from right on our photo. The right ear, only, is positioned so the top is above Biden's right eyebrows. Talent: In career, more than personal life, having super-quick and insightful understanding of problems. Potential Challenge: Finding it personally difficult to not have closure on projects for which he's responsible. Largest priority area: Area I. Of the three lengths on the face, Biden's longest goes from hairline to eyebrows. Talent: Biden values understanding, learning, intellectual nuance. Potential Challenge: In a culture that values quick, glib sound-bites, could Biden's style put him at a disadvantage? Why did Obama choose Biden? Perhaps one answer is that Biden appeals to the brainy senator from Illinois. Where Obama brings passion and verve, Biden contributes steadiness. Personality-wise, Biden's no competition. What's so special about Joe Biden? If I were choosing a running mate -- or a live-in mate, for that matter -- I'd go straight to my candidate's aura. Let's do this now, using this photograph. I'll use techniques from my latest book, Read People Deeper: Body Language + Face Reading + Auras.
Presence in the room databank at the Root Chakra Wiry, lean, personable, affable – Biden also has the special self-confidence you find in someone who has shown athletic talent. Anybody know what his sport was back in high school? He isn't pushy. He's more an alert person in the background who listens carefully and thoughtfully, showing this by adding meaningful contributions to an ongoing conversation. Verbal integrity as a politician at the Throat Chakra Biden cares enormously about being successful politically. Popularity is what he craves. Yet he's got enough integrity to struggle about making compromises. For now. One reason why Biden currently doesn't project a lot of energy out of his throat chakra is the inner struggle. He's a former stutterer. You zine readers who are skilled empaths, try doing an empath-merge on Biden on the right side of his throat chakra, reading the databank about "Ease of communication." Then you'll appreciate the struggle he faces every single time he gives a speech. (How I wish he would call up for an appointment of Energy Release Regression Therapy. I would love to help this man release the cause of this chronic suffering!) Back at the verbal integrity databank, at Biden's best, there's a soul-level gift for communicating in a precise manner backed up by powerful analytical insights. Power integrity as a politician at the Solar Plexus Chakra Follow-through is excellent. Biden is a stickler for delivering what he promises. He also shows reserves of strength. Part of that is (as some of you may know) one of my favorite things to find in any chakra databank, scar tissue. He has been tested around courage and taught himself how to overcome obstacles. Spiritual integrity as a politician at the Third Eye Chakra For starters, let's comment on what doesn't show in this chakra databank. After all these years of Bush rule, how refreshing that Biden is not a religious hypocrite! He doesn't pretend to have all the answers about religion, nor is he a zealot interested in converting others to his point of view. In practice, his "God" is social – the fellowship and inspiration of the people he admires. There's a deep sense of obligation to the people whom he represents. Service is where he shines. Personal style, as a politician, for relating to money at the Root Chakra Senator Joe wants everybody to have plenty of money. Underdogs are his first passion, both poor and middle-class citizens. However, Biden also has great sympathy for those, like him, who are wealthy. He totally appreciates their lifestyles of entitlement, personal sense of superiority, and expectation of having continued privilege. Moral development and soul age from the Solar Plexus Chakra "I'll do it if it helps the group." and " I'll do it if it makes me popular." That's the grand moral imperative I notice about this politician. To this aura reader, Biden is a teenage soul, unlike Obama who comes from a far higher level of personal evolution. But I've read many a teenage soul whose guiding principle is more like, "I'll do it if it helps ME." and "I'll do it if I can get away with it." Instead, Biden is doing his best for others. The facts of his career support this. CONCLUSION The recipe for this man's aura, created in part by his own efforts, does contain salt of the earth, the ability to understand the common man – and that includes an abundance of souls in America who are teenage or younger. This is the major professional association for people with a "CH" after their name. At this point, CH is my only professional title, except for "B.A." Imagine the synchronicity here. I spent five hours crafting my proposal. Then that evening a new client told me she had just read my article in "HypnoGram®," the journal of the National Guild of Hypnotists.
