READING LIFE DEEPER September 2004 Zine Issue 28 by ROSE ROSETREE In this issue: Rose's Latest Media InterviewS:
Recently it was brought home to
me that some of you have been fairly isolated as pioneers of Celestial
Perception. When I taught at Discover U in Seattle, a lovely couple drove 2 ½
hours each way so they could participate. They had read my advanced face
reading book,
Wrinkles
Are God's Makeup and wanted some in-person study, maybe some community,
too. Other face readers, aura
readers and empaths are the first in their cities or countries to study the
technologies I’ve been given to share with you. That can get lonely. But now, thanks to my
multi-talented student Lisa Paradis, you can join in two virtual communities
of people with an interest in deeper perception. In her words: Celestial
Perception is a moderated forum to discuss topics dealing with
Celestial Perception, including aura reading, face reading (physiognomy) and
spiritual healing. Empaths are encouraged to join our related forum
"Skilled Empaths." Join up as our gift to you by clicking (what else?) on one or both of the following: Both online discussion groups
will be launched on Sunday, Sept. 5, 2004. Although I’ll be making an occasional visit to these communities, Lisa will be the official moderator and host. Isn’t it a great thing about the Internet that something like this can be offered for free? And isn’t it great of Lisa to take a leadership role and help us to find like-minded friends as we grow together! Thanks, Lisa. KID,
DON'T LET YOUR FACE FREEZE LIKE THAT: Mom was right, long term. Faces do change, physically. The inner expression works its way outward. Example? Two of the four major politicians in Election 2004 have developed increasingly crooked faces. A third sometimes holds his face in a temporary expression, correlated with dishonesty, that hasn’t stuck yet but could. To understand the ins and outs, lefts and rights, it helps to be a face reader. Since 1975, I’ve studied the 3,000-year-old art of physiognomy and have developed a trademarked system, Face Reading Secrets®. Face reading is the art of reading the soul through the physical face. One of the most interesting ways you can do it is to study meaningful facial asymmetries and other physical ways faces change over time. I spent nine years writing a book about this, Wrinkles Are God's Makeup (which is the sequel to The Power of Face Reading.) Here’s a quick introduction to reading some very telling details that you can help inform you for the upcoming election. ASYMMETRY COUNTS Every feature on your face counts, to a face reader. Within a face part like nose or lips, there are 10 or more different categories with a choice of variables. Each one means something very specific. To add to the meaningful nuances of a human face, there’s significance to the right side vs. the left. To see how different they can be, cover up any mug shot with a sheet of paper. Compare the left and right sides. They can vary enormously. Here, excerpted from Wrinkles Are God's Makeup, are three photos of President Kennedy: His face as it actually was, his face where the left side is a mirror image of his right (two rights), and his face where the right side is a mirror image of his left (two lefts).
Have you guessed by now? Each half of the face has an overall meaning. The right side is about what you’re like in public (as in work, including politics). The left side reveals what you’re like in private (with family members, close friends). Having some differences between right and left is healthy. Pity the rare person who doesn’t know how to “get a (personal) life.” Still, when a politician’s face becomes increasingly crooked, quickly, let’s put it this way: It’s not a good sign. In fact, the term “crooked politician” has definite meaning to a face reader. Incidentally, how do you tell right
from left in a photo? It’s like looking at someone who stands opposite you.
Cross over in your mind, as if preparing to shake hands. Don’t worry about the
right and left sides of the photograph, which can be confusing. Hold the picture
up to eye level, and treat that photo just like a person. TILTING AT NOSES Are faces exclusively shaped by heredity, mitigated perhaps by luck? Not to a face reader! We find that faces evolve in ways that are 100% meaningful, due to the connection between the physical face and the inner person. If you’re scientifically minded, consider the subcutaneous facial muscles and their fascinating links to human emotion. Isn’t it common sense that an often-held inner expression will, eventually, “freeze” on a physical face? If you look with an open mind and a keen eye, you’ll notice fascinating face changes on politicians. For example, since occupying the White House, President Bush’s nose has shifted from angling to left to angling to right. Right leaning noses go with a destiny for work having outer impact. With this fame trait, you enjoy more success and status than might otherwise be expected, given factors like your intellect, emotional IQ and ambition. Does it seem fair that some people should have a charmed work life? Maybe only if you believe in reincarnation! However you explain it, you’ll find significant nose angling in nearly one out of every two American presidents. The roster includes Buchanan, Bush (W.), Carter, Clinton, Eisenhower, Fillmore, Ford, Harding, Harrison (William), Hayes, Hoover, Jackson, Johnson, Monroe, Nixon, Roosevelt (Franklin), Roosevelt (Teddy), Taylor, Truman, Tyler, and Wilson. What’s the potential challenge? It’s power lust, which may help explain why you’ll also find extreme right-leaning noses on these notorious headline grabbers: Osama Bin Laden, Slobodan Milosevic, Saddam Hussein, Muammar Qaddafi, Adolph Hitler and Timothy McVeigh. Left leaning noses symbolize work that has deep inner significance. The person has beliefs, interpretations, religious principles or a willingness to share in public something that would normally be considered too intimate to reveal. The young Elvis Presley had such a nose, as did John Lennon. Their music was extraordinary, in part, because it uncommonly personal depths. What’s the potential challenge? It’s having one’s work under-valued by the public. When the left-leaning nose belongs to a politician, being un-famous isn’t the challenge. It’s having one’s personal agenda taint public leadership. This happened to Nixon, for instance. (See a full-length reading of his facial saga, with a dramatic finish, in the final chapter Wrinkles Are God's Makeup.) Cheney has a left-leaning nose, as did
George W. when he first assumed the White House. A
Moving Experience -- Nasally Not only does nose angle count. It can change. What does it mean when a nose shifts from left-angled to right angled? You’ve gone from basing your career on your personal agenda to craving fame… and feeling that, to keep it, you’ll do whatever it takes. This happened to John Lennon and Elvis Presley, after years of outrageous fame. And it has happened to President Bush over the past four years. See these examples: POLITICIANS ON THE LEVEL There’s good reason why you’ll seldom see an official photograph of Bush or Cheney with a camera angle that shows them on the level. They’re way crooked. Vice-President Cheney’s face shows many admirable qualities, like the shape of his nose in profile, long and relentless. This signifies rare talent for working with logic-- relentless, rigorous logic. (Potential challenge? Ruthlessness.) Then there’s his down-turned nose tip, signifying exceptional ambition, with a drive to aim high in his career. Combine this with his nose shape in profile and voila! It’s an oversized gift for strategizing and pushing through his ambitions. (Potential Challenge? If you don’t like his ambitions, this could be scary. Ever hear of Machiavelli? He’s another political guy with Cheney’s unlikely nose combo.) As for the crookedness, however, note how his right eyebrow and eye are higher than the left. Intellectually and socially, this is advantageous for a career. It suggests putting authority figures first, or even becoming a major authority figure to others. The potential challenge, when this player has political power, is overlooking others who lack one’s own degree of power. As for President Bush, his face shows the opposite asymmetry. Having the left eyebrow and eye permanently raised, compared to the right--what does it mean? It’s being guided by personal beliefs, so that he may not acknowledge in public the extent to which they drive him. Another aspect of crookedness that has developed over the past four years is a chin that lists to the right. If you cover up one side of his face at a time, you’ll get the big peek-a-boo. He’s got about twice as much chin on the right (public) side as on the left. Meaning? “Public” beliefs show more strongly than that what he really believes in private. Bush’s face does show significant gifts. In fact, he has two that are very much like those of Ronald Reagan. Reaganesque Financial face data in a president can correlate with his monetary policies. So note the Reaganesque tiny nose tip of George W. Bush. It suggests that the always wealthy Bush does not worry about saving. This “prosperity consciousness” can inspire others, as a kind of metaphysical trickle-down economics. Potential challenge? Not planning for the future (as in going into debt). Another interesting, and unusual, facial characteristic is shared by both presidents. Ever notice the extra-long canine teeth? On these men—unlike, probably, you—these two upper teeth are longer than the four teeth between them, including the front teeth. Meaning? This is the deepest kind of aggression that shows in face data. Folks with this characteristic tend to get their way. They’re so deeply invincible, they don’t have to show more obvious forms of competitiveness. Potential challenge? People who disagree feel like they’ve been hit with a stealth weapon. THAT SMILE, THAT CROOKED SMILE Then we come to a way that all three Republicans look alike. Unlike symmetrical smilers Kerry and Edwards, you’ll find a crooked smile on photos of Bush, Cheney and Reagan. Crooked smiles, alas, are always about dishonesty. Admittedly, the advantage is charm. But at what cost? When the right side is higher than the left side, as in Reagan and Bush, it means that he “opens up” to people by publicly showing enthusiasm he doesn’t feel privately. When the left side is higher than the right, as with Cheney’s smile, it suggests that secretly he has the last laugh. A TOTALLY L.A. TEA PARTY As I travel this fall, some of the events are going to be outrageous. If you have any friends in L.A., please invite them to sample the free readings I’ll be doing at the Tea Garden Herbal Emporium, in W. Hollywood. It’s the most beautiful boutique of any kind I’ve ever seen. The clients toast their own health with custom-designed, herbal elixirs designed by experts in Chinese herbal medicine. And voila! On Monday, September 13, I’ll offer special readings to customers, pre- and post-drink. Clients pay for their tonic but not for my comments about how it re-aligns you, emotionally and spiritually. Click here to find out about my loads of workshops and session slots in L.A. In Japan, I’ll offer four all-day workshops, plus six days of personal sessions, all sponsored by VOICE. Could there be a better way to study Face Reading, Aura Reading Through All Your Senses, Empath’s Empowerment or Spiritual Healing with Celestial Perception? Translated for your listening pleasure—or you can hear the English directly. In case a ticket to Tokyo is not convenient, I invite you to share my glee and amazement at this adventure—probably the most exciting chance to teach so far in my 33 years as a spiritual teacher. If you click on this Voice link, you can see a familiar face amid all the great Japanese writing. How fun is that? Now, depending on your Internet provider, you’ll either be treated to real Japanese script or you’ll just receive a series of question marks punctuated by photos. This little Internet joke seems pretty appropriate, given how much many westerners (myself included) know about reading Japanese. We
will keep information about all my upcoming workshops through 2004 (including
L.A., Tokyo, N.Y., Richmond and Las Vegas) on my website. Click on the
navigation buttons on the upper left of this page for my Home page or for the
Classes page. Last
week, I taught five workshops in Seattle, did many sessions with new clients,
and gave some media interviews. It all came about thanks to Jean Johnson, from
Seattle. She had read Wrinkles Are God's Makeup and became curious enough
to invite me to come to town to give workshops. She helped me organize a
simple book tour and voila! I came out. As a spiritual teacher, I find the
curiosity of students to be an irresistible force. Let me know if you’d
like to have me come to YOUR city. Maybe we can arrange it for 2005. SO WHAT'S WRONG WITH THE DEMOCRATS? What liabilities show in the Democrats running for America’s top jobs? They have their share of potential challenges, too, though chronic crookedness, is not among them (yet). For example, both Kerry and Edwards have down-angled eyes. On Kerry, it’s especially extreme, and for face reading that means the inner component is particularly strong. When eye corners are lower at the sides of the face than the center, the talent is a problem-solving. Here’s someone who doesn’t flinch from recognizing harsh realities, and may be motivated by exceptional compassion. Potential Challenge? It’s coming across with a degree of seriousness that others find off-putting. For Kerry, this is accentuated by the bags under them. These eye deepeners result from serious introspection when life doesn’t go smoothly. It’s always interesting to see which are larger on a person over 30, the deepeners or eye extenders. In repose, for Kerry, it’s definitely the deepeners. When he smiles, however, huge eye extenders spread across his temples. Often linked to affability, so-called “crow’s feet” signify turning to others for help during tough times. George W. has a small set of these as well. Unlike Bush, however, Kerry’s extenders move all the way across his cheeks. Bush lacks eye deepeners, and his eye extenders stop short at the power area, which suggests that he reaches out to others without accompanying introspection, and that the consolation from others does not affect his dealings with power. Most significant, and potentially controversial, about Kerry’s cheeks, did you ever notice his unusually wide range of cheek mobility? When his face is in repose, you’ll see something very different from when he smiles. In repose, he shows very prominent high cheekbones. This means using his power to uphold his values. If he believes a person is trying to get away with something wrong, he’ll use his clout to make a fuss. Potential challenge? Turning voters off. When Kerry smiles, however, his cheeks show a different emphasis, one even less common. Smiles, of course, symbolize reaching out to others. Thus, they reveal personality. By contrast, a face in repose, shows what someone is like, deep down—character rather than personality. Smiling, Kerry displays prominent far-set cheeks. This suggests long-term courage, whether the cause is popular or not. Potential challenge? Taking on tough causes. EDWARDS, MOUTH AND ALL What’s the best thing about candidate John Edwards? His chunky nose tip will come as a refreshing change to those who pine for the days of our president with the biggest nose tip yet, Bill Clinton. Folks with big nose tips value financial security. And, if they help run a country, may help the nation to build a corresponding surplus. The potential challenge? Those with large nose tips worry more about money than other folks do. As a more mixed blessing, note Edwards’ ultra-muscular jaws. No, it doesn’t mean the guy works out extra hard at the gym. Instead, it suggests exceptional resolve, personal discipline. Potential challenge? It’s being tougher on himself than others. In personal life, the problem is obvious. For a politician there’s the add-on of being perceived as weak. To compound for this challenge, note the overall width of Edwards’ face. Forehead to jaw, it’s even. This Polite Power Style, suggests that he knows how to work the system (any system he’s in) to get results. Potential challenge? It’s being taken for granted. The lawyer’s strong point is, famously, eloquence. What does his mouth show? Like Kerry, Bush and Cheney, he has the somewhat unusual lip proportions where the lower lip is way fuller than the upper lip, at least twice as full. For these guys, it’s more triple the fullness, one of their very traits. Meaning? My colleague, the British physiognomist Lailan Young, has dubbed these Blarney Lips. This signifies exceptional persuasiveness. The challenge? It’s being tempted to sell ice to Eskimos. Other mouth matters that are especially pertinent to Edwards include having a muscular mouth. This suggests a talent for moving people’s emotions through his speech. The potential challenge? It’s arousing mistrust. Edwards also has chiseled lips, a kind of natural lipliner that gives his mouth high definition, corresponding to ultra-high standards for communication. Potential challenge? Especially given the muscular and Blarney Lip aspects of his mouth, Edwards can arouse major mistrust in his political opponents. SPEAKING OUT OF ONE SIDE OF HIS MOUTH One final mouth trait bears a fascinating relationship to lying. Now that you’ve become adept at comparing left and right sides, you’re in a position to notice a subtle kind of asymmetry. When Edwards speaks, sometimes, his whole mouth shifts over to the right side of his face. This indicates working extra hard to persuade people. Potential challenge? Integrity is at risk, though not as much as if the mouth has physically moved toward the right side of the face, long term. This, by the way, has happened to both Bush and Cheney. Even with his face in repose, his mouth is significantly longer on the right than the left. Just like Mom said, even if she wasn’t yet a face reader. So, watch out for the ways you move your face. Over time, it just might stay put! FACE
PUZZLE If you read faces, you’re familiar with its counter-culture premise: Your physical face isn’t based on heredity. That’s only half the truth—and the less interesting half. Instead, your soul shapes your face. Even more influential than genetics is that evolving core of you, driven by your free-will choices that you make day by day, shaping preferences in all areas of life. Depending on how you deal with power, communication, relationships and so forth, long-term choices will out-picture in your facial features. With the recent Olympics, you’ve had a chance to see evidence of this in the form of identical twins, Paul and Morgan Hamm. The former won a gold medal (give or take some dispute). Both competed in gymnastics and both might be expected to look alike. If you believe that heredity rules, how to explain at least seven significant facial differences? These guys are just 21. With each passing decade, identical twins develop more distinctive biometric data. My puzzle to you: Examine their photos, then see how many face differences you can spot. (To help interpret those differences, look ‘em up in Index II of The Power of Face Reading.) Is it
superficial to see people “at face value”? Only if you’re not yet using
deeper perception!
