READING LIFE DEEPER September 2005 Zine Issue 39 by ROSE ROSETREE In this issue: READING JUDGE ROBERTS What kind of Supreme Court justice will John Roberts become? That’s the important question to ask, not whether or not the Senate will confirm this nominee’s appointment, which is nearly certain. Even the precise flavor of his conservative ideology may not matter so much, long term, as the caliber of the man. As my zine readers from America know, this appointment is for life, and few positions of power in this country matter as much as the one surely to be given to Judge John Roberts. Thanks to modern photography, we can explore faces in ways unknown to the world’s first physiognomists, some 5,000 years ago. So let’s begin by reading his face. How has and hasn’t it changed? (Later in this zine, we’ll read his aura as well.) Compare the face of John Roberts at 50 to his face at 21. Come on face readers! Especially if you have read Wrinkles Are God's Makeup, you appreciate that the most revealing expressions of soul on a face show in the what changes, what doesn’t. So take a look for yourself before reading my comments below. WHAT HASN’T CHANGED No smile depth Yet I consider a smile without depth to be so problematic that it is one of the few bits of face data I ever urge a person to change. Judge Roberts, if you’re reading this, please consider opening up that smile. However charming, a no-depth smile means the appearance of giving without the reality. No eyelid thickness has been another constant for Roberts. Given his double eyelid structure (with a fold at the brow bone), the significance is simple: His intimacy style is highly independent. Regardless of how ideologically close he becomes to colleagues on the Supreme Court, deep down Roberts will always be a loner. Sure, he’ll be a powerful consensus builder. (Wait until we read those jaws, that cheek texture.) Nevertheless, Roberts won’t be timid about stating his views, even if he finds himself in a “majority” of one. WHAT DID CHANGE Eyebrow shape is one major change for John Roberts. First, his eyebrows curve so gently, they’re practically straight. Later, they develop VERY deep angles. Meaning? Intellectually, Roberts begins with a fondness for ideas, slightly tinged by concern about how those ideas affect people emotionally. Later he develops strong independence as a thinker, where his favorite part isn’t the immediate conversation but one step out, where he evaluates, contradicts and creates. Jaw width has an interesting asymmetry, right from Roberts’ early days. In Roberts’ college portrait (he went to Harvard) you can see how his jaw is wider on the left than the right. (Experienced face readers, you’re used to telling left from right in a photo. Newer face readers, this is a neat trick to learn. Unless gazing upon your own visage in a mirror, every other face you see, in person or through a photo will be flipped over compared to what you’re used to. That’s because mirrors reverse our faces. To tell left from right in others, draw upon your experience with shaking hands and “Go flippo,” crossing over in your mind to find another person’s right or left.) Back at Roberts’ fascinating jaws, the asymmetry hasn’t changed but notice how much wider his jaws have grown overall. They’ve gone from petite to colossal. Meaning? Private loyalties have always mattered more to Roberts than loyalty to school or job or constituents. But with greatly increased jaw width, the degree of his loyal has increased substantially. He will struggle, long-term, for what he believes in and won’t be deterred. Depending on your ideology compared with his, this makes him a formidable ally or foe. Because his jaws have grown so much, his facial width overall has shifted, resulting in a different power style. Earlier, Roberts has cheeks widest. Now his jaws are widest. Meaning? Decades ago, Roberts took strong initiative publicly, with a high-profile leadership style. Now he’s more content to be in the background, working behind the scenes to achieve his objectives. His power style, though more subtle now, is considerably more formidable. And this is even more striking because of how his cheek texture has changed. Check it out! Yes, Roberts’ cheeks have gone from softly padded to one of the most intensely muscled textures you’ll see on any face. This suggests that he went from a socially independent (even clueless) person to someone with a practiced, skilled way of accumulating power. You could call him a man of destiny at this point in his life. His deftness and influence give him reason to be confident, while unyielding insistence on principle keeps him on track. Augmenting Roberts’ forcefulness, note the shift to the shape at chin bottom, from curved to straight. Earlier, he made decisions based on people’s feelings. Now he’s more likely to hand down opinions based in ideology. In addition, Roberts has developed a Macho Knob, that circular wad of muscle at the base of the chin which correlates with pride (and the potential challenge of temper when crossed). Because Roberts’ Knob is punctuated with a cleft, count this face data as a VERY intense inner influence. Yet, balancing this intensity, I’m sure you noticed his wonderful powerline dimples, those mouth-framing creases that mean charm. Humility is the basis, and it’s reassuring that graciousness may temper such an intensely ideological man. If you’re a conservative, you may be leaping for joy at this point. If a liberal, you may be sobbing. Either way, notice that VERY out-angled left ear. It suggests that Roberts will always act independently, much like Justice Souter. During a lifetime appointment, his ideas may change. What won’t is the need to defend them with the utmost loyalty. MARK YOUR CALENDAR This September, I’m hard at work getting my latest book published. There will be 365 chapters in Let Today Be a Holiday: 365 Ways to Co-Create with God. (An excerpt follows later in this month’s zine.) To find the time, I’ve cut down on travel, media interviews and classes this fall, but do note that telephone sessions continue to be available. Aura transformation, personal instruction, soul’s journey readings and face readings all work beautifully over the phone and short reports continue to be available as well. The short reports continue to be popular, both face and aura. Starting at $15, they make a wonderful gift, can supplement your reading of any of my books, and are also an easy way to decide if you’d like to invest later in something more substantial, like a full session or the Correspondence Course in face reading. ------------------------ Massachusetts friends, old and new, I'll be in the Andover and Marlborough areas September 14 - 24. AN AURA OF INTEGRITY Using the same portrait as before, let’s go through Roberts’ aura. If you want to get the most from this reading, check out his earlier sample of aura as well. Being an empath, I can use the “Darshan Technique” as described in Empowered by Empathy. But even if you’re not among the 1 in 20 people who is an empath in some way, you’re among the 20 in 20 people who can be a great aura reader if you’ll use the gifts that God gave you. And if you can’t yet read an aura in depth and detail from a photo like this, there are many ways I can teach you, including the “Thrill Your Soul” video workshop and one or more phone consultations geared toward personal instruction. Personal Charisma Databank at Root Chakra Roberts has huge personal charisma (though it’s about half of what he had at 21). He has been through many struggles… and learned from them. Equally impressive, he combines concern for people with a passion for fairness. Creativity Databank at Belly Chakra Roberts has become passionate about creativity. Compared to when he entered Harvard, he has become way more creative. Ideals are strong. He’s team oriented. At a databank where many people have blockage, Roberts could give lessons in uninhibited and inspired creativity. Intellect at Solar Plexus Chakra Actually, Roberts has a remarkably clear aura at all the major chakras. The closest he comes to a problem shows here. Unlike his aura as a student, Roberts has incorporated a lot of the metal element, i.e., he has developed a strong respect for the way the world works, the dynamics of power. He’s more astute than ever, with dazzling intelligence. However, he seems vulnerable to having his ideas colored by expediency, as in the saying “The end justifies the means.” Power at Solar Plexus Chakra Here is a complete reversal from the Judge’s student days. Earlier, John Roberts showed the diffidence of a shy person. Comfortable in the realms of intellect and athletics, he felt uneasy with any role where he’d seem to be pushing his ego. As a more mature man, Roberts has aligned his ego with his religious beliefs. No power can be too big for him now because he feels that his power is an instrument of God. Emotions at Heart Chakra Roberts is genuinely kind, even magnanimous. He feels committed to using his power in a way that helps people. Communication at Throat Chakra Truthful, yes. In addition, I’ve never seen the throat chakra of a person more sure of himself. In public, he’s able to blast holes in arguments of other people, demolishing opposition through a combination of logic and charm. In personal life, Roberts appears less intensely competitive, even more charming. Spirituality at Third Eye Back in college, Roberts’ aura suggests a lack of interest in spiritual life. Like many a successful person, his life works fine without much deep inquiry. Yet that changed. By now, Roberts has developed a big spiritual awareness, very unusual among America’s Republican politicians. He has a rock solid Christian-vibed faith, highly reassuring to those who share it. Don’t expect him to be open to anything that might seem to contradict his beliefs. Soul Expression at the High Heart Even when young, Roberts showed an exceptionally strong connection at this chakra. Some people instinctively know how to do what they came here for, playing their roles with gusto. Roberts continues to live with soul, and by now his connection to God is beautiful, shimmering with joy and integrity. LAUGHING MEDITATION My upcoming daybook, Let Today Be a Holiday will have a mixture of think pieces, poems and how-to stuff. Here’s one that you may enjoy. You’re among the first to see it. Day 107: Laughing Meditation To get high on laughter you can’t beat this technique, adapted from a method I learned at Yogaville. Although you can do it alone, the more the merrier. Laughing Meditation also happens to be a terrific party game. No bystanders are allowed, so give your more serious guests the option of hanging out in the kitchen while you and your noisier buddies take over the living room. Here’s what you’ll need by way of equipment:
Everyone lies down, not touching anyone else. Cell phones must be turned off. The host helps everyone to be comfortable with temperature, lighting, and so forth. To begin, call on a Divine Being. Ask for protection during this meditation, so that only energies of the highest vibration may enter the place where you are. And, as host, you will also play timekeeper. Together everyone does a minute of chanting. Some groups like to sing “Om,” a mantra of peace. Others like to chant “Peace” or “Love.” Or you could sing a round like “Donna Nobis Pacem.” Now begin15 straight minutes of laughter. There’s only one rule: Everyone must laugh out loud, more-or-less uninterruptedly, for the full time. At first, that means faking it. Your first ha ha’s will sound ridiculous but, eventually, a real laugh will break from the lips of some susceptible silly. Uh-oh, here goes the whole group. Soon the whole everyone will be surfing an ocean of laughter. Unlike TV laugh tracks, real-live group laughter can sound strange. S ome wonderful loudmouth will yuk it up with a booming belly laugh. Someone else, intentionally or not, will snort. The sounds becomes increasingly outrageous until waves of laughter will roll through the group. Whenever the sound dies down, do what you can to laugh in some really strange way that normally you would never do. Strive for exaggerated sounds; the more embarrassing it feels to make them, the better the impact. So smash your laughter boundaries with an evil villain’s laugh, a chuckle that’s exaggeratedly fake, or giggle like a teenage girl. Animal sounds can be a hit, too. Try to chortle like your Inner Baboon. It’s hard to drop your dignity to such degree, but somebody in the group has got to make the sacrifice. Your wackiness will soon become contagious. After the 15 minutes are up, close with one minute of the same kind of chanting you did before. Now you can go forth with a renewed, re-charged aura to do some magnificent co-creating with God.
