Life is some kind of movie for you. Always has been. Think about it.

For some of us, it’s a romance. Others prefer “life as thriller.” During those hormonally fraught teenage years, perhaps your movie was a tragedy. 

For me, life has nearly always been a musical comedy. Close friends know I am apt to improvise songs and dances, even crooning some messages on voice mail. One way I could tell that my son was becoming a teenager was that one day when he made me promise, “Mom, when we go out together in public, no more singing, okay?” 

Much as I enjoy watching other people’s musicals, I’ve never seen one that I have enjoyed as much as Mamma Mia. All the performances delighted me, but none more so than that of Meryl Streep. In this article, I will give you contrasting empath merges, one with her as regular self, using this photo; another in her naughty role as Miranda Priestly in "The Devil Wears Prada", via this photograph.  And one in her role as Donna Sheridan, the Dancing Queen in Mamma Mia, using this photo.

Meryl as Meryl: Every form of humor interests her, except for the kind that hurts people. Otherwise, bring it on -- bawdy laughter, situational humor, wisecracks (especially without bitterness), witty humor, wry humor, slapstick, if it‘s done elegantly. Probably her favorite is the kind of humor that makes a person think, as in the best of Monty Python.

Meryl as Miranda Priestly in "The Devil Wears Prada": Absolutely-tootly, Miranda is ALL about expressing her soul, going for whatever she wants. Chances are that if you were to do a session of Regression Therapy with me, and you chose to venture into a Perpetrator Life where you experimented with an incarnation of wickedness, you would find something similar. The goal with soul expression is to balance it with the goodness and caring of an equally developed spiritual connection. All you Zine readers are probably doing great at this third eye databank. For you, there would be no problem with full soul expression. With this character, however, is she ever dangerous!

Meryl as Donna Sheridan, the Dancing Queen in “Mamma Mia”: The character’s soul expression is emerging, in this scene of the movie. Toward the beginning, the character’s soul expression was muffled, and by the end she is shining in life with her full light. However -- and this is just the cutest part of the whole movie, to me -- in this particular scene, Meryl’s personal soul peeks out because of her huge, vast, contagious delight at singing and dancing this particular song.

Meryl as Meryl: Divinely blessed, Streep is one glowey woman, living as an extremely self-actualized person. It isn’t just the acting. If she didn’t have this career, she would choose another and do it magnificently.

Her high heart fulfillment isn’t based on her fame or wealth, her enormous success. Instead, she’s simply self-motivated, living every minute.
