    What CAN 9/11 Mean?

September 11th, 2007 by Rose Rosetree

Garrison Keillor was asked last night about the meaning of 9/11 during a radio interview. Wisely, he answered that the event was long over and had personal meaning only for those whose loved ones died. For our nation, the meaning was that America’s constitution had been shelved, something that Keillor hoped would change. Me, too.

If we do insist on discussing September 11, let’s stop brooding over the past and choose what we would like it to mean in the present. Beliefs shape reality, in the long run, so this exercise could help us create the future we desire. My friend, Dianne Eppler-Adams, suggested the idea of asking what 9/11 could mean. Well, I’ll tell you my dream if you’ll tell me yours! (That’s what COMMENTS are for.)

From my perspective, reading auras, fear of terrorism is a great cleanser. Right after 9/11, I noticed that many people began a lot of releasing in the crown chakra, right at the back of the head where deep fears cause blockage. Aurically, fear of terrorism gives people incentive to purify, especially useful for the slow-growers who don’t want to evolve beyond their status quo. Thus, sometimes, they have to be dragged, kicking and screaming or sobbing, along their paths. For these reluctant students at Earth School, fear associated with 9/11 has (inadvertently) become a path.

You, however, have chosen a different path, being thoughtful and deeply inquisitive. This makes you a leader more than a follower. So moving forward during this Age of Terrorism, where the heck are we going?

Humanity is becoming aware, more globally aware than ever before. What does it matter, in the long run, if fear has been the incentive? The result is a deeper sense of brotherhood and sisterhood.

Technology is part of the process. We’re sharing information via this blog, plus we’re using the rest of the Internet. We’re sharing more every year. Amazingly, I’ve heard that kids today check their phone messages first thing every morning, even before they pee.

Interconnecting politically and through technology, people are using the equivalent of training wheels to learn how to ride a bike. What vital skill are we learning? We’re discovering how to connect by means of awareness. Abilities like empathy, aura reading, all the forms of deeper perception (a.k.a. “Paranormal” abilities) are the Esperanto of the Aquarian Age. Our shared language is spoken on the inner.

Ever hear of “Cosmic Consciousness”? This spiritual goal means being connected globally, while awake inside, safely connected to Spiritual Source. This, I believe, is where humanity has been headed, faster than ever, since 9/11. And I, for one, don’t consider that prospect scary at all.

You make me blush, dear Rose! I love your perspective and thirst for deeper perception! I guess I inspired myself because I awoke this morning and went straight to my blog (www.spiritinmatters.com/blog) to record my new thoughts about how I will hold 9/11 from this day forth. Blessings to you!

Dianne, what you wrote is beautiful. I don’t just mean the blush, I mean your blog entry. It doesn’t allow for comments yet, so I make mine here. :-)

I am stunned that you would use words like “stop brooding” over the past. Just like terror, brooding can be a way to open to truth. I am equally stunned that you think it is good for kids to be grabbing their electronic equipment first thing in the morning, ie “before peeing.”

    Hi Karen,

I’m not sure that I can speak to the first part of your comment (comment number 3), but I believe the part about the electronic equipment was misconstrued. Here is the line from the post above:

“Amazingly, I’ve heard that kids today check their phone messages first thing every morning, even before they pee.”

Rose is neither condoning nor condemning this practice; she is merely commenting on what she has personally heard, and there may be a different standard of practice among the young people of your community or among your friends or the children of your friends.

I have heard that cell phones are being used in libraries, making it difficult for some people to study there. I have *witnessed* (not just heard - is this a pun?) cell phones going off in classes and during exams and have also *witnessed* the use of cell phones causing people to be so distracted that they have nearly walked into other people, other objects (like trees or metal posts), or nearly causing motor vehicle accidents (hence, NY has made it illegal to talk on a cell phone while driving, as has Washington, D.C.).

    Dear Karen:

Glad to meet you via your thought-provoking comment. Re the early morning habits of the plugged-in generation, I didn’t mean to horrify you. Nor did I mean to imply that a person doesn’t have the right to mourn, or brood over, anything. Still, I bring the perspective of energy spirituality.

When traditional psychological healing and old-time religion were the only available ways to deal with grief, often brooding and mourning were the best that a person could do. (And that remains true for many people today. Not everyone is ready for the 21st century forms of healing, Energy Medicine, Energy Psychology, and Energy Spirituality.)

For those who are willing, today we do have techniques available to move out pain that has become stuck in a person’s aura. Examples are Donna Eden’s Energy Medicine, Gary Craig’s EFT, and my 12 Steps to Cut Cords of Attachment™. Some of you blog-readers may be professionals at doing these or other forms of healing that can shorten a person’s period of mourning while providing a complete healing for mind-body-spirit.

Karen, I would defend to the death anyone’s right to mourn things as long as they need to… even right until that person’s final hour on earth. But my life is dedicated to helping people heal more efficiently, using deeper perception as a part of the healing.

Today isn’t September 11, 2001. Six long years have passed. While a client could be just part-way through psychoanalysis after six years, my clients gain results much faster than that. Nor am I the only contemporary healer whose clients show quicker results.

Regarding 9/11, am I the only one who thinks there should be a statute of limitations on public mourning?

    September 11th, 2007 at 2:05 pm

Rose, I whole-heartedly agree that should be a statue of limitations on public mourning. I believe a few years back there was even something said about how it makes it **harder** for those who lost someone to move on. It helps the world so much more to embrace WHAT WORKED on that day and strengthen our bonds as caring beings.

We have a lot more technology and a lot less dialogue (I couldn’t write communication because Rose makes an excellent point about the increase in connection which might be another form of communication).

I find it fascinating that we have intense rise in polar opposites: the fear of terrorism and the increase of websites like couchsurfer–where people travel and stay with strangers–a practice I’ve done for nearly 20 years. What I have learned from my travels and from living in remote areas is that we all want the same things: love, laughter, and acceptance for who we are.

Sept 11 shouldn’t be about starting this process, but rather about celebrating how far we’ve some and about setting our visions for this year, this month, this week. It all starts with one step. Today…look at one being….a cashier, an unknown cat, someone on Metro…with eyes of love and acceptance. Or breathe from your heart chakra towards that person embracing all of who she or he is.

I too agree that public mourning needs to be subjected to limitations. At some point you have to ask yourself why you are still grieving otherwise you become trapped in your emotions.
