    Foreign Editions, GUEST POST

September 23rd, 2007 by Rose Rosetree

Dear Rose,  I would like to know where I can place an order for a Chinese Edition of “Empowered by Empathy.”

    Regards,

    Bonnie

Bonnie, thank you for asking! Questions like yours come my way more often than you might suppose, and it always makes me feel so happy to be asked. Then I feel like rolling up my sleeves to get to work…

Foreign editions do not just happen, even in the days when it is possible to get instant, slightly goofy but usually helpful free translations at websites like this one: http://babelfish.altavista.com/

For that kind of translation, you need to cut-and-paste, paragraph by paragraph. And doing this for an entire book really isn’t recommended, both for practical reasons and because of copyright law.

However, this link to Babelfish is GREAT if you want to read my blog and contribute, and you are more comfortable with a language other than English.

Please know that if you post a comment and your words are translated, I will clean up the English when approving your post. So you will shine! (Your English, Bonnie, was great to begin with, however.)

Many of you blog readers, I know, come from different parts of the world. If you would like to find any of my books in your language, here is how you can help make it happen. Look on your bookshelf at home, or go to a bookstore, and find your country’s three best publishers of mind-body-spirit books.

Go online and find the contact address. Then send a letter to each publisher, to the “acquisitions editor,” saying you think that readers would really enjoy the book. Include info about my website, http://www.rose-rosetree.com, and maybe a link to the foreign rights page, http://www.rose-rosetree.com/catalog.htm.

So far, we have sold 17 sets of foreign rights. A publisher (or you, if you’re curious) can find out which company has sold which book just by clicking here: http://www.rose-rosetree.com/catalog.htm “Empowered by Empathy” has been published in Japan, Bonnie – slightly close, though not close enough to help you.

This last week, we signed a foreign rights contract with a wonderful publisher in Slovenia, Cangura. (They have a cute kangaroo as their logo). So “Aura Reading Through All Your Senses” will soon be published there, and I hope it goes on to become a national bestseller as it did in Germany.

If you get in touch with any publisher soon, you might mention that I will be attending the Frankfurt Book Fair this year, and we could make an appointment to talk. (That wacky and incredibly huge international gathering will take place October 11-14. I look forward to posting something about Frankfurt here next month, as your Roving Reporter of Deeper Perception.)

Finally, the most practical point may be this: How can you get a copy of “Empowered by Empathy,” or any of my books, if you live outside the U.S.?

It is easy. Click onto the order page at my website: http://www.rose-rosetree.com/orderbv.htm Secure ordering!

You will pay a bit extra to have the book sent to you, but I’m guessing less than would happen if you ordered through Amazon or anywhere else. And, judging from at least one story I’ve heard from a reader outside the U.S., you will DEFINITELY get better customer service by ordering through my website.

To learn more about any of my books, click here: http://www.rose-rosetree.com

Then click onto the picture for the book of your choice.

Bonnie, thank you SO MUCH for writing. May all my books be in Chinese editions soon (legitimate editions, of course)! (Alas, I have already had some experience with illegal sales of my books, but that’s another story. Ugh!)
