Choosing a Psychic like Sonia Choquette
December 23rd, 2007 by Rose Rosetree
Sometimes a person just needs a psychic. If Deeper Perception
ever was useful, that time is now.
Don’t choose based on the obvious. Fame is not always easy for psychics. I can think of two major American psychics who once possessed the most delicious purity. Now they merely have fame, money, big followings. Poor things! I won’t be reading them here.
Instead, for our advance 10th day of Christmas, I’ll read Sonia Choquette, emphasizing the databanks that I consider most vital for doing a reading of any psychic.
As always before reading an aura, I put aside what I know at the surface level. In Sonia’s case, this is easy because I know so little.
· She’s a world-renowned psychic with a pretty face and an even prettier name.
· One very treasured student of mine once studied with her, but has told me nothing about the experience.
· When I went hunting for photos to use for this reading, I found Sonia’s website and therefore began listening to her sales pitch in streaming audio. This made me ambivalent. The presentation was enormously compelling and almost too expertly contrived. I was in the presence of a first-rate salesperson.
What did that all tell me about her psychic work, however? Nothing. All the less to clear away!
To join me with this reading, click here and copy and pull on the corners to see the biggest photo of
Sonia Choquette I have found.
“Psychic specialties” databank at the Belly Chakra
Oh, yes, Sonia is the real deal: Very, hugely, involved in psychic perception.
This databank, like others related to psychic experience, are the giant-sized parts of Choquette’s aura. Being a psychic is, clearly, her life. Making sales pitches, for instance, is a lesser interest. Whew!
Sonia is committed to raising world consciousness. Every time she brings in a useful detail about one person’s life, the act of connection is made in the context of uplifting the world.
And whatever STUFF shows elsewhere in her aura, the very human kind of problems that are healed through Energy Spirituality, this databank of Sonia’s, this talent, is very graced, pure, pristine.
“Experience of reality” databank at the Root Chakra
Sonia’s reality is a world of lessons. They aren’t necessarily fun.
Although Sonia does have a firm foothold in earth-type reality, her preference is clearly not to walk there. To her, it feels like a black-and-white world. By contrast, her psychic world glows in full color.
“Grounding” databank at the Root Chakra
Of the three databanks read so far, this is the one that impresses me most. Scar tissue galore! Evidently, Sonia has struggled with coming in for a landing. It’s a skill she has had to teach herself again and again, with each spurt of psychic growth.
Any professional psychic who holds onto integrity wins the Rose Rosetree award for enormous courage. But additional courage shown here, very human, individual, hard won.
Sonia would be an excellent teacher of grounding for her students. And maybe the aforementioned sales ability began as an attempt at grounding.
“Power needs when working” databank at the Solar Plexus Chakra
Sonia really wants to make a difference. This databank is only slightly smaller than her databank about psychic connection.
I find that her psychic connection (i.e., the astral-level guides she works with) are the ones who want power. They want to help humanity. They also want to expand their own territory of influence by connecting energetically with Sonia’s students.
Can psychic work, or religious work, give energy to any astral beings involved? You bet. This can be a sweet symbiosis or something more sinister.
No sinister rodeo skills are involved here. Students come voluntarily. In joining up at the frequencies where Sonia works, a student will bring energy to this set of guides and will be helped in return.
Is this an exchange in which I, personally, would choose to participate? No, I prefer to work with Divine Beings or, simply, God. But my chosen positioning of awareness, emphasizing etheric (spiritual) frequencies doesn’t produce psychic excellence. For the flashier tasks, a person really does need to team up with someone(s) in the astral.
“Communication when doing psychic work” databank at the Throat Chakra
Sonia doesn’t use ego hooks. Nonetheless, she doesn’t quite get out of the way, either. As this part of her aura shows, Sonia has been endowed with a strong, distinctive personality—down to earth, credible, with a good sense of humor. She has learned to blend her communications with those attractive personal qualities.
Is her work is stronger as a result. Definitely. This kind of thing is what a human ego is for.
“Spiritual path” databank at the Third Eye Chakra
Sonia has chosen to stay at a particular level of consciousness in order to fulfill her mission as a World Server. Spiritual growth isn’t a priority. She lives in a pleasant realm of openness, spontaneity, non-dogmatism, flexibility. No particular STUFF blocks her experience, yet this is (by soul agreement) one of her smallest databanks.
Blog-Buddies, comment here with your Deeper Perceptions about Sonia Choquette. Also, if any of you have personally experienced with her work, what do you have to share?

As always, Rose, most interesting. What struck me most is that she is using her gifts to fulfill her life’s work – assisting humanity. I think that’s a wonderful path and I love that she is true to it.
Also of note is that her crown chakra is one of the smallest (as you say, by soul agreement). I wonder if she could change that and if so, how? If she’s comfortable where she is (as it seems), I don’t suppose she’d be moved to do that but I do find that enigmatic (this from me, who is all about learning and growing!).
Ah, Lisa, it’s amazing. You must have read that post as soon as I hit click!
In the interest of precision, not to mention answering your question, I note that it is her spirituality databank at the third eye that is small, not her crown.
Exactly right, when someone is comfortable where she is, there is no need to change a thing.
If she did feel the need, she could come to me for a third eye opening as part of an Aura Transformation session, as I have done this rather specialized kind of work with people for some time. It’s one of my favorite types of phoner.
It is very common for people to specialize in an area in life, then shift into something else later.
I found it interesting that right after doing this reading of Sonia, I went to a church service and quickly encountered a whole bunch of people with way more developed versions of this same databank. They don’t have Sonia’s fame, obviously, nor do they have her skill set as psychics.
Each of us has a special role to play, at any time here at Earth School. I do agree with you that it is a great choice to use one’s biggest gifts to serve humanity. Whatever the level of development a person has, this choice is available.
I was in the presence of a first-rate salesperson.
I do not think I had ever heard of Sonia Choquette until she was mentioned here on this blog. When you go to her site a video of her doing a radio show immediately begins playing.
When I went to her site for the first time I noticed her salesperson qualities just a few seconds after this video started playing. She especially has the throat chakra of a salesperson. Of course, this is not inherently bad.
She also has very distinctive qualities of being a leader which also show especially strongly in her throat chakra. She could probably do well in corporate type jobs if she had to.
This is a great reading. I know nothing about Sonia Choquette. This is actually the first time I have even heard her name, so it was great to go in completely blind, with a comletely new and fresh perspective.
Awesome, Rose!
How fun! I’ve read a couple of her books, and I’ve caught her a couple times on Hay House Radio. I agree that she’s got the public communication skills down. I’ve found her writing accessbile, yet I have also found it a bit “Secret-esque” in that she presents spiritual information in a way that the general public can easily digest it and expect “miracles.”
VERY interesting point that one can choose to stay at a particular level of development in order to better serve. As always, eye-opening, Rose!
Many thanks, Rose, for this reading on Sonia! I have to say that the way you described Sonia is exactly how I have experienced her.
I don’t have time at the moment to say a lot, but I will say that one thing I’ve really gotten a kick out of in the time I’ve known her and have studied with her, which has been a thread of contact through books, audio, workshops, readings, and professional training over the past 4 years, is that I’ve always known she’s the real deal….in spite of the ‘trappings’ of the pretty face and name and sales talents.
That’s what’s great fun about Sonia. She’s actually quite ‘subversive’ and a rule breaker in a completely playful, disarming, smiling-all-the-while kind of way. And part of her mission is to shatter the stereotypes of psychics. I have always sensed a clear and strong focus on being of service, along with extremely high standards of integrity. I have appreciated her model of having pride in her talents and having clear boundaries, yet without ego hooks.
What you mentioned about grounding is quite interesting. Yes, she has had her share of struggles in balancing life as a psychic on the human plane. Her autobiography is a fascinating read and tells all about it. One thread of her teaching is about grounding and helped me enormously about 3 years ago.
Sonia has the gift that you have, Rose, which I describe as having the ability to take the esoteric and bring it down to earth in a way that makes it accessible to people, yet without watering down the essence of the information.
I’ve really enjoyed having Sonia as a mentor in many ways and being able to do that without falling into guru worship. What I’ve observed is that she does have enormous charisma….which comes from being so authentic.
Actually, it’s been quite a fascinating adventure of transformation for me these past 4 years. Maybe I’ll share some stories in another post.
I am so excited to be able to experience the work of these two amazing teachers (you and Sonia) and to have my intuitive sense of Sonia be completely validated.
I’m with Anita…awesome, Rose!
I think the fact that Sonia appears to work with astral-level entities means that she is a medium since contacting spirits is what mediums do, while a mere psychic does not have this ability. She is also a psychic since all mediums are psychics. If she knows consciously what she is doing is another question.
There are different level mediums, astral (evidence mediums), mental and causal mediums (channeling), and this has been a phenomenon world-wide.
It’s interesting that psychic ability is in the 2nd chakra and not in the 6th chakra and that she can do this without having a very active 6th chakra.
And now the question to Rose:
Do you as an empath get zero impressions when your empathy is shut down (and that would obviously be a different ability)? I can get more with a slight effort, for example I can do psycho-metry of objects while my empathy is shut down.
[In response to a negative comment about Sonia, since deleted.)
The only thing I can say is that what your experience seems to highlight is how fame seems to distort so many people, even those in the spiritual community. Whatever fame has become in this day and age, it seems to be very difficult for many people to handle.
Second, it seems that people's quest for power and influence also negatively impacts so many. It also seems to distort the expression of so many people's soul-level gifts. I'm thinking here of the reading that Rose did of Donald Trump.
It's unfortunate that the success that so many seek and could be so rewarding so often ends up being so damaging for so many.
I've seen this on a smaller scale, too. The joy that so many had in learning and academia often gets distorted under the pressures of attending a competitive university. What once brought such joy ends up bringing great anxiety. I often think of amazing ice skaters who fumble at the all-too-critical moment at the Olympics because of the pressure to perform.
It seems very difficult for many to keep the initial joy and purity of purpose that initially motivated people to pursue a certain line of work. I find this to be true in medicine, for example. So many were initially and genuinely driven by the desire to be of service, but then the pressures of being pre-med, the pressures of medical school, the pressures of malpractice, and the difficulties of navigating the every-changing waters of the health care field have driven many to become more mercenary, less compassionate.
One some level, it's understandable, yet so extremely unfortunate. It's a sign of the times that our society is in these days, it seems.

One part of your comments made me chuckle…I met Bay Area folks who associated themselves with Sonia and I’d hazard a guess that the ones I met were already pretty distorted before any readings, if they’d actually had any! Some of the strangest and downright meanest behavior I’ve ever experienced. I’ve sure encountered the experience of having stuff triggered as the result of a reading, but then I figured it was my responsibility to sort that out, which I did. It certainly can be challenging to handle the information that’s given in a reading, that’s for sure!
As I’ve written elsewhere here, I don’t have friendships with any of the folks I met at workshops any more because the behavior over time was just so odd and basically dysfunctional. But what I observed was as much a distorted interpretation of some of the basics of her writings and teachings. Who can ever know what truly goes on inside of people. I imagine that many of them were looking for quick fixes and easy answers. No teacher should ever be given too much power in one’s life, that’s for sure, even those with great charisma and integrity.
If there’s anything I’ve learned from dipping into metaphysics, it’s that the skills and information that can be gleaned ought to be handled with a potent dose of humility, maturity, rigorous personal honesty, and wisdom.
Carmel, there is another of your criticisms/concerns that is puzzling to me. That is the one about her giving some people the same advice. The logic of this criticism escapes me and I’d like to offer an alternative viewpoint to consider.
I think it’s to be expected that the various psychics and other metaphysical teachers would each have their own ‘niche,’ market, people they attract, whatever you want to call it. In my humble opinion, I believe that’s actually how things tend to line up.
I would expect that folks who are attracted to Sylvia Browne and her work are likely to have somewhat different interests and needs than those who line up for other psychics.
A main part of Sonia’s work tends to be helping people to connect with their spirit, their feminine energy, and to get on their soul path. Her vibe tends to be strongly feminine, artistic, and intuitive in nature. A big part of her mission is helping those with similar energy to embrace it and be empowered by it and to have the courage to step away from the mainstream conditioning they’ve experienced that’s stifled their spirit in any number of ways. So what I’ve observed over the years is many people who have been on one path, typically encouraged by family, peers, society at large, and who have hit a crossroads in which they realize they can’t keep going in that direction, and so they reach out for guidance.
So to flip the argument around, I’m not surprised at all to hear some people being told that their true spirit is actually artistic or that they’re truly a healer, for two people on the phone during a radio show to be given similar guidance in nature. It’s more a matter of similar types of folks congregating around the energy that’s attracted them. With all the changes happening in the world lately, I don’t bat an eye anymore when I meet another energy worker who used to be in finance. This is exactly the type of transition Sonia helps folks to make.
Following the same logic, would it be fair to criticize Sylvia Browne for sharing with multiple clients that they had a deceased brother or sister or father or mother who had a particular message for them? Isn’t that basically what she does?
I’m all for a spirit of fairness in the criticisms, claims and arguments we choose to make, regardless of the teacher or figure we’re chatting about. I’d say the same thing in response to comments about any other figure; I just happen to be more familiar with Sonia’s work. One aspect I find refreshing is that she has always been very open about her human foibles, mistakes, and challenges along the way and when younger, never claimed to be anything other than a human sorting out how to manage and best use her gifts.
It’s one thing to say, for example, as Ryan has put it so beautifully, that he wouldn’t choose to work with Sonia because it doesn’t feel like a good match to him.
It’s another thing to criticize the work of a practitioner through placing responsibility and expectations on them that, in all fairness, really aren’t rightfully theirs.
Yesterday I had a surge of Kundalini energy that disabled me for most of the day. I just realized that I know how to recognize high levels of Kundalini in other people, although I did not have it in my inner dictionary until just now. Sonia Choquette has very strong Kundalini energy. This would explain why I perceive her as being a very energetic person. Elaine Aron has fairly strong Kundalini also.
I think what I find fascinating about this particular dialogue is the conversation it opened about just one psychic. I think it’s great, and I think if people applied this level of attention and discernment to all aspects of their lives, we would live in a totally different world. I would argue a better world!
I agree, Anita.
I was reflecting on your comment after rereading Rose’s reading and the entire conversation and am realizing what an education in discernment it has been these past few years as I’ve studied with Sonia and have developed my own psychic abilities and how much it has helped me in all areas of my life.
I have pushed myself to be disciplined about how I handle the information in a reading. The hard to hear must be heard and the encouraging and positive still requires work on my part. I have had the experience of allowing a comment in a reading to override my experience of the reality of another person’s behavior. That was a tough lesson to learn. I had to take complete responsibility for it.
All in all, what I’ve done that’s been great fun and that’s worked for me has been to recognize this particular person as an incredibly inspiring spirit who lives life in an unconventional yet highly successful way (not solely materialistically speaking). And so I’ve simply tried out what she’s suggested to do and have experienced major changes along the way. Come to think of it, it’s also gradually changed my entire view of life, the soul, karma, and how the universe works. If everyone gave a bit of thought to all of those topics, then yes, we definitely would live in a better world!
I am so grateful for the lessons I’ve learned directly from Sonia. I remember at one low point a few years ago in a reading when I came out and asked her to tell me what to do and she pushed back hard saying, “I’m not going to tell you what to do. YOU decide! That’s your biggest problem. You want everyone else to tell you what to do. You decide.I’m just telling you that where you are now is a dead end.”
It’s very rare to experience honesty, even brutal honesty, told from a place of unconditional love. I’m grateful for the experience, have grown as a result and now can recognize that vibration. And now I don’t want anyone to tell me what to do!
I gueess she is telling everybody she’s a psychic because some people, especially Christians wouldn’t want to have their problems to be solved by ‘spirits’ or would have some resistance to being led from the spirit world.
I came upon this blog via Google – I am scheduled to have a personal reading with Sonia this Tuesday Jan 22, and actually have reservations based on Carmel’s comments. I am wondering how much of the reading will really be ABOUT me, since it is quite a lot of money, and how much will be general material from her books.
I saw Sonia speak 12 years ago in person and decided if I ever really needed psychic help, I would contact her. I am hoping she puts her full energy toward specifically helping her clients during a reading.
I would appreciate hearing more from AnnH and anyone else who’s experienced a reading.
Thank you!
Karen, welcome to the blog. I would appreciate hearing from you in the future as well as this very first time! But I do have a favor to ask of you, and our other Blog-Buddies.
Please, no future threads here, or comments, where you are discussing the merits or problems with different practitioners. I know there has been a bit of this about Ms. Choquette, tangentially, in the past, but I really am interested in having this blog being about reading people, learning about them, discussing that.
By contrast, having people do a kind of consumer report critique of my fellow healers and psychics (or me) isn’t quite the same thing.
I’m still finding my way having a blog. It’s still new to me. Please forgive my inconsistencies, folks, as I do find my way.
I’ll be able to navigate the difference I have tried to articulate, delicate though it is, when enabling comments. Meanwhile I would like to invite you, Karen, to do a future comment where you leave an email address where people can contact you off-blog with their experiences. That way you can have the feedback you’d like, from this wonderful community, and I can have peace of mind.
KATIE, thank you for that sharing. You might be interested in my two-part blogging, started today, about Caroline Myss. She, also, has gone through a superstar kind of career, and it is an ordeal for many of the most famous people in all walks of life.
For someone who is, by disposition and also by profession, a sensitive — well, it clearly is a huge challenge.
My heroes in the mind-body-spirit community are Donna Eden and Marianne Williamson, among the superstars. I’m very impressed with Dr. Christiane Northrup, as well, but don’t know her work as well as that of the other two.
I also love my mentors, not yet that famous yet (obviously, in my opinion, and for me), the very best teachers America has to offer: Bill Bauman and Tantra Maat. I am thrilled with the career of my friend Chrissie Blaze, who is moving more into the mainstream with every passing year, and carries full integrity intact.
All these heroes of mine (and forgive me, others, for not naming you here, because I’m sure I could think of more New Age heroes, if pressed to do the once-and-for-all kind of list), among their other stellar qualities, they have managed to keep their purity 100%.
It isn’t just the temptations of money and fame that celebrities must deal with. It’s the crackpots, the people who suck energy, those who see one person’s success as reason to try to tear that person down. And in this line of work, more of them may appear than in professions like politics.
Hold Sonia high for how she has helped you. That’s my advice. Take all that you can and let the rest go and go on to find others who will be great teachers for you, for as long as they can help.
You’ve already shown, by your comment, that you know that other people only serve to teach you for as long as you have something to learn from them. No obligation to anyone, ever, you know?
Thank you Rose. I agree about holding her high and believe me, I can’t imagine being in her position – it’s difficult enough for me being overly sensitive to everyone around me, if they were actually focusing their beliefs and projections on me as a public figure I can’t imagine myself doing quite so well as she! In fact, in hindsight I’ve learned huge stuff from the conference about my own projections and an excitement about following my path without anyone’s permission – a central theme to her conference.
I shall read about Carolyn Myss – I read the face reading and, having those same eyebrows (I do get impatient)I’m interested to hear more.
Ooh, Katie, and any other Blog-Buddies who can identify with that label of being “overly sensitive” — no fair. That is just “overly talented, underly skilled.”
Teaching those skills is the point of EMPOWERED BY EMPATHY. If you read around at my main website, like the FAQ section, or click on the cover of the book, you’ll find out that I teach a set of skills that use the power of your consciousness to become more yourself. This is completely different from the things you have probably tried to avoid being sensitive, put up walls, have boundaries, avoid toxic people, etc.
Please consider learning skills that are not that hard to learn but are totally, wotally (okay, I made up that word) different.
Hmm.. thank you so much, usefull information
One thing I have noticed is that a spiritual teacher may start out very genuine and powerful in accuracy that is sustained for several years until they get caught up in their game and money. This is the hardest thing when money and fame become your reality. I am a fan of Dr. Judith Orloff and Dr. Mona Lisa Schultz because they have managed to stay board certified while being intuitive healers. This is a mark of integrity.
She came to my attention a few months ago, I heard a couple of interviews with her and looked briefly at her site and came to this conclusion:
I think she’s probably a very skilled psychic, and authentic in the desire to be of help. I feel that she’s not very considerate of the emotions of others, and her ego probably rules a lot of her decisions/readings in a way. Not a typical mememe primitive ego, but one more developed, that wants to leave its’ legacy, and can be detached from the emotional effect of her actions upon others. She’d probably dismiss it as “their stuff” or ego, which I think is a bit of projecting. (I did read the comment earlier about the experience of her calling people out, which validated my initial feeling about her) I don’t know that she dives into her emotional subconscious very much, and when you don’t do that, you’re influence by subconcious issues no matter how psychically advanced you are.
NEONARTEMIS, what a perceptive gem you throw in right at the close of your post:
“when you don’t [dive into your emotional subconscious sometimes], you’re influenced by subconcious issues no matter how psychically advanced you are.”
Brava! Worthy of a goddess who shoots arrows in full bright color!
I suspect that some psychics may be in real need of psychological help to get their own healthy ego in order before giving advice. Psychic and psychotic are not too far off from one another.
Curious about that comment in Russian? I was. For several years I have had two books for sale in Russian editions, “Aura Reading Through All Your Senses” and “The Power of Face Reading.”
Over the last year, I’ve noticed with fascination that “Cut Cords of Attachment” is being sold online in English through a major Russian publisher. (Same thing is happening in China. Just this one book, out of all my seven in print.)
Long story short, I asked a friend if she would check out this comment and here is her reply:
What can I say — it has nothing to do with the blog/discussion or even close to the subject.
Must be some sort of mistake.
The elevator version of what is said is that this person (osobo = very much) is worried about who is going to be selected for the major of a small suburban town close to Moscow called Khimki.
The point he is making is that all people who paid money to the fund of the candidate not supported by main government (=Russian President) are being audited (personally and business-wise).
Then, as very Russian thinking goes, he says that the President is just (before the Tzar) was just lol, and that the laws prohibit this kind of auditing and that they should watch TV when President is talking and explaining law.
So – not much about Sonia…I wonder if “osobo” person knows English and what was said before him/her… Or may be he/she was reading a couple of blogs at the same time and posted to the wrong one…
Regarding Sonia, she is the real deal – human as all of us, with a strong devotion to unconditional love and helping others. I have read some of her books and attended her Six Sensory Certification level I workshop and plan to attend Level II. I’m not a devotee, but do find she is at ground zero exactly where I am – figuring out how to be the best human I can be and loving the process.
It’s not always easy – one minute I am a very spiritual being, the next I am getting upset because someone is tail gaiting me on the highway. If I can flip that quickly, so can Sonia. The important thing is to keep moving forward and to help others the best way I know how. Aren’t we all in the same boat?
