Campaign 2008 Aura Reading, Face Reading — Mark Shields

When I grew up in the 1950’s, one of the biggest compliments you could give was calling someone “sincere.” Gee, who cares about that any more, in a word gone post-modern and ironic? As if!

Well, I do, actually. And it’s particularly refreshing to find a sincere public person who also happens to be a political pundit. Reading auras, reading faces — these activities also require sincerity as part of a carefully chosen intent to gain true knowledge.

 Always, when I do these posts, silly jokes or not, I’m mindful of the motto of my college, Brandeis University: Truth even unto its innermost parts.

As with our first reading in this trilogy, where I read Doris Kearns Goodwin, here I’ll explore databanks that seem most relevant to the rather strange job called “Political Pundit.” And the end of today’s post will list links that you can use to do similar readings.

Reading the PBS News Hour regular, I’m going to compare his “just being Mark,” as in the photo above, with Mark in action, as shown below.

If you blow these pictures up — copy onto a blank Word document or email and then drag the corners — you’ll have a great view of Mark’s in-drawn lip texture.

It’s a pretty safe bet this man doesn’t go for regular lip injections to plump his mouth up. And, again, I do find it refreshing to find a major TV personality who doesn’t mess with his face. Sure makes it easier to do face readings.

When you make comments to this post, feel free to read his face as well as his aura. Here I’ll just comment on that rare lip characteristic that, to my knowledge, money can’t buy. You can plump ‘em up but you can’t pin them in.

In-drawn lip texture goes with a talent for speaking because of conviction. It’s one of the greatest physical face traits related to honesty.

The potential challenge is difficult with embroidering the truth or, altogether, faking it. Gushing, especially, would be hard with Mark’s lips. But, then, when was the last time you heard this man gush

Talent as a Public Communicator databank at the Throat Chakra

• Just being himself: Mark has a finely honed sense of humor, an ironic and detached take on the world, and the heart of an unabashed idealist.
• On the spot, before millions of viewers: Mark takes his role very seriously. The gravitas isn’t an act but more a sense of responsibility that when he speaks before viewers his opinions must be sound.

And maybe its just my perspective as someone who does Energy Release Regression Therapy but I feel distinct undertones of a past life as a statesman in Rome. No, I’m not saying that Mark Shields was Julius Caesar but that he has been a workmanlike politician himself in the past, just as today he is a workmanlike pundit.

Personal Belief While Speaking Publicly with Other Pundits – Ones Whom He Personally Dislikes databank at the Throat Chakra

• Just being himself: Partly, Mark tries not to take himself too seriously. (Honestly, I’m reading this from his aura, not extrapolating from the man’s choice of ties.) Also, I notice that charity is a strong value.
• On the spot, before millions of viewers: Shields holds firmly to his truth. Besides that, he has learned to win the inner struggle over whether or not he will allow himself to become angry in the face of conduct that he considers unprofessional. Disagreements don’t rile Mark Shields as much (it seems to me) as when people knowingly twist the truth, situations when they can do better but knowingly choose the low road.

Staying Calm and Poised Under Pressure databank at the Solar Plexus Chakra

• Just being himself: This is a most familiar role to Mark Shields. Any of you Blog-Buddies know anything about his childhood? Seems to me that he has had to be the peace keeper since he was quite young, being the one to de-escalate family drama and “be the man” even when he still was a boy.
• On the spot, before millions of viewers: Mark sets his ego aside. He speaks as an act of service and gives up his personal ego to better allow expression of the facts, the truth, the history. Mark is absolutely scrupulous about having his TV career not puffing him up.

Spiritual Clarity databank at the Third Eye

• Just being himself: Mark Shields is a good Catholic boy. He doesn’t wear his faith as a facade but as a fdefining act. This religious commitment is a basic part of his identity.

Although I noticed something similar in the aura of Doris Kearns Goodwin, and have found it blaringly obvious in (unlikely or not) Steven Colbert, Mark Shields is the one who could win my award for “The most devout Catholic on television.”

Why? He has struggled a lot. (Just look at those VERY down-angled eyes.) Whenever struggling, he has used his religion to pick himself back up. His aura shows that he has done this again and again.

• On the spot, before millions of viewers: Spiritual clarity about political matters — this is where Mark Shields shines. He isn’t looking for Catholic doctrinal allegiance. Instead, he seeks the ethics, the road for goodness.

Remember the “What would Jesus do?” movement. Long before it was popular, and long after it ceased being a fad, Mark Shields has applied a standard like this to political life. His yardstick isn’t the expedient but the good.

Soul’s Reaction to Doing This Work databank at the High Heart Chakra

• Just being himself: In a life where there has been a great deal of private and personal pain, Mark Shields is so very grateful that he gets to do his sacred work.

It is a very strong feeling of grace, uplifting his human life. Mark has endured enough personal suffering to make it easy for him to stay humble, even if humility were not one of his steadfast ideals. But the ease and flow of doing his work leaves its trace, even while he’s not working. Life IS good for Mark Shields, due to this work.

• On the spot, before millions of viewers: Being a first rank political pundit is a high-pressure job. You’re not only competing against all the other talking heads. You’re not just routinely paired with someone of contrasting political beliefs. Your opinions must be delivered on the spot, before those millions of viewers. Moreover, you’re expected to bring up names, dates, specifics, to be as familiar with speeches from 40 years ago as you are with your own name.

 Mark Shields is in his 70’s, for heaven’s sake. He has been at the top of his profession for decades, and that brings extra pressure.

Yet, speaking, he’s cool as a gourmet salad bar, organic cucumbers and all. One glimpse of this chakra databank helps to explain it. The flow of this work, for Mark Shields, is a state of grace. He surrenders into it and, somehow, time stops and pressures ease far into the background.

Speaking truth to power –it is his communion wafer.
