“Cut Cords of Attachment” — Includes What?

October 30th, 2008 by Rose Rosetree

A recent comment from Blog-Buddy Ryan got me thinking about “Cut Cords of Attachment.”

What is in that book, anyway? What is involved in the system that I developed over a 20-year period, 12 Steps to Cut Cords of Attachment(R)?

For starters, the original cut cords book IS in English. (Although it’s also in a couple of other languages, my favorite foreign cover so far being to the left. Keep reading to see the wackiest cover yet.)

Writing and publishing this book was a labor of love, honoring the healing abilities of so many of you readers. It is the first full-length book on the topic of cutting cords of attachment in English and many other languages.

My goal with this book is to give you all the how-to information and basic theory that you need to cut cords of attachment with professional-level skill. This will happen whether you are a complete beginner or an advanced healer.

WHO CAN LEARN HOW TO CUT CORDS OF ATTACHMENT?

Cut Cords of AttachmentWhen writing this book, I did have a more specialized audience in mind than with my other books. I thought especially of:

    • Psychotherapists
    • Life coaches
    • Spiritual counselors
    • EFT practitioners
    • Energy Medicine practitioners
    • Healing Touch practitioners
    • Reiki healers
    • Psychics
    • Tarot readers
    • Medical intuitives
    • Consumers of healing services, wanting to know more about the credentials of those who claim to cut cords of attachment.

Basically, it is a book to help you to do what I specialize in: Emotional and Spiritual healing.

Cutting cords of attachment is a great way to extend your reach if you do professional or personal work in any healing discipline.

“CUT CORDS” BREAKS THROUGH INTO NEWSPAPERS — SORT OF

Earlier this month, I saw the first reference in a newspaper EVER to cutting cords of attachment. (If you’ve seen it mentioned anywhere, do let me know. It’s fascinating how “cut cords of attachment” is going from underground healer’s secret to mainstream.)

The mention I saw was in the travel section of my local paper, “The Washington Post.” In an article about going to hot springs, the author displayed much greater affection for mineral waters than for human beings, lavishing ridicule upon the various holistic healers he met along the way while saving his words of praise for bedrock nature.

Still, this writer did refer to a Reiki healer (“Reiki” not capitalized, actually — Hey, Posties, spare no effort to diminish the cherished healing skill of millions, right?) and this healer was “snapping” his cords and complaining that some were tough to “snap.” The writer showed is contempt for the process by leaving mid-snap, proud he had left his chakras unbalanced. Okay……

TO CUT CORDS IS MORE THAN A “SNAP”

Alas, I’ve encountered many mentions, some of them from serious healers, of the “snap” approach to the healing art I call “cut cords of attachment.” To claim that all that’s involved is a snap or snip, on a physical level… is to reveal a certain lack of understanding.

If you want to align the body with a physical approach, if you have no interest in (or talent for) emotional and spiritual healing, by all means DO NOT attempt to cut any cord of attachment. You probably don’t consider yourself qualified to give haircut either, right?

To clarify the distinction between a snap and what is really involved, consider Hatha Yoga. Today, certain people consider it a mark of wisdom, or status, to carry around a yoga mat. To them, carrying this symbol means “I know all about yoga.”

Well, no. As someone who has done yoga asanas just about every day of her life since 1970, I’m pretty sure that there is no quick shortcut to learning about yoga. To “own: yoga to any significant degree, you must actually do yoga. A mat is just a mat.

Similarly, simply cutting or snapping or snipping a cord of attachment is hilarious (or pathetic) as a substitute for the body of knowledge required for a beginner’s level of competence.

Cut Cords of Attachment, Japanese edition, Rose RosetreeWhich is why, at first, I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry yesterday. I finally was sent an image of the Japanese edition of Cut Cords of Attachment. This version is just a tad more playful than the cover at the top of this post, from The Czech Republic.

However, a knowledgeable friend consoled me. Turns out, this is a very popular style for books today in Japan.

True, I still can’t figure out quite what the cartoon person has on her head, but will ask my kind interpeters to help me in a couple of weeks, when I start my Japanese Book Tour and Healing Tour and Teaching Tour #8.
