    Empath Protection on Election Day

November 4th, 2008 by Rose Rosetree

If you are an empath, here are some words of advice for Election Day.

Before you leave home, for mercy’s sake, do NOT just think about where you are going. Important though that is! Yes, voting today is extremely important. But now we’re talking about you, the voter, as an empath.

(Incidentally, the skills in this post would also be helpful to some degree if you are a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP), not an empath. If the reason isn’t clear to you, put a question in the comments box below and I’ll do my best to answer.)

Typically, an unskilled empath leaves himself/or herself out of the picture. But you’re a teachable empath, right?

As a skilled empath, you leave home with a basis of being strongly present to yourself. And not just your feelings, please! Because if you’ve studied with me at all, you know that there is way more to being an empath than noticing feelings or not noticing them.

Similarly, a skilled empath will NOT waste time with elaborate shields, protection by means of walls or affirmations or other add-ons to yourself. They bring a false sense of security.

A fully shielded empath is just an unskilled empath with walls. If you use an invisible shield, you’ll create an invisible wall. If you use a complex, elaborate shield, you’ll create that kind of wall instead. Either way, shields won’t protect you from taking on other people’s STUFF.

Instead, big shields just make an empath seem phony. Meanwhile, STUFF from other people will lodge just fine inside your beautiful empath’s aura. So you become an unskilled empath, carrying loads of STUFF, only now more phony to the degree that you use a big shield.

BEFORE YOU GO TO VOTE, A SKILLED EMPATH WILL…

Give yourself a minute or ten to make contact with all the layers of yourself. Because every empath is a person, not just an empath.

Do this exercise in the deepest way you can, bringing in full spiritual connection. One way to do this is the “Coming Home” technique that you can learn from Empowered by Empathy. (See LINKS at the end of this post.)

Whatever technique you use, make it a good one, and be sure to wake up at each of these levels:

    • Social connection at the level environment
    • Physical body
    • Level of the mind
    • Level of the intellect
    • Level of the emotions
    • Level of the soul
    • Level of the spirit

Come out of this exercise in a quality way, making sure you are fully back. With practice, a skilled empath can do Coming Home in two minutes. Every minute of every day is important. But for an empath, those two minutes could be among the most important ones of your day.

Awake inside as yourself, hooray! Now you, the empath — and person — are ready for that trek to the voting site.

    YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD VOTING SITE

You don’t need an elaborate strategy there, as a skilled empath. Just remember to use your Space Dial and turn it to 1. Then use your voting equipment.

Remember, you have control over how you hold a space as an empath. So don’t slip into the familiar habit of holding a space with your empath circuits switched all the way ON. The single most important skill for an empath is to develop the habit of keeping your circuits — every empath gift that you were born with — turned OFF most of the time.

As someone becoming skilled as an empath, you may need to give yourself an occasional light reminder while you’re at that voting site. “OFF.” Remember what you learned in Empowered by Empathy about holding a space. Well, use it.

All you need is the tiniest, most subtle shift of consciousness.

In addition, do remember that you are not there at the voting site as an empath. You are there as a voter.

Frankly, your job is to vote, not to turn on your empath circuits and energetically boost the process along by taking on other people’s STUFF.

The fate of the country does not depend on your coming home laden with STUFF, emotionally, intellectually, physically, etc. That is not a wise use of your gifts as an empath.

If you still are determined to bring healing to the voting site, say a prayer and let God do the work. A skilled empath knows how make a vibrant and flexible connection to God. (Think back to the various techniques in Empowered by Empathy. It’s in there.)

Don’t mistake yourself for God instead. As a human being, each of us has finite resources of energy, personal balance, wisdom and even — Dare I say it? — intelligence. This means no disrespect to the God-in-me aspect of being human… and an empath to boot.

(To learn more about the relationship between healing as yourself versus the much better results of co-creating with God, you might want to take a look at the last chapter of Cut Cords of Attachment.  For more ideas and techniques that could make a difference, check out Let Today Be a Holiday, soon-to-be-released as a Kindle book at Amazon under the title 365 Days to a Stronger You: Balance Your Human Life with Helping Others as a World Server.)

The main point is simple. Go to the polls like a regular person. Don’t go as an empath. Go to vote.

Do it, and then go home, healthy and balanced, a skilled empath — rather than a Voting Day wreck. Nobody should need four years, or even a single day, to recover energetically from a presidential election.

AFTER YOU  FINISH VOTING, A SKILLED EMPATH WILL…

Remove any STUFF that popped into your aura, despite the use of your empath skills. It happens! So use the First Aid technique after you leave the voting site.

Ta da! You’ve voted. You’re ready to get on with your life… as a skilled empath, your own person, moving forward to accomplish what you desire in life and also feeling great on your own when you’re just being.

On Election Day, you may spend hours watching election results come in. Again, prayer is very appropriate. Hanging out with friends is fun. But just because you’re an empath, that is no reason to supplement the regular voting-day activities with taking on other people’s STUFF.

Drama is not required. If you find yourself getting sucked into drama or fuming, remember your First Aid technique. Do another round of Coming Home, if you wish.

Your life, as a skilled empath, is not dependent upon election drama.

FOR TRUE ELEGANCE, AN EMPATH CAN ALSO…

Interested in some extra aura-clean-up credit? Then use the different skill set that is your next step as a skilled empath: Cut cords of attachment.

Check out if you have a cord of attachment to any of the candidates, commentators, etc.If you have come to loathe any of them, make sure you are not inadvertently carrying around energy exchanges with them. This is a separate factor from being an empath, skilled or not.

Cords of attachment happen to everyone, empaths included. Even with skill as an empath, your inner circuitry can be distorted by toxic cords. Minor cords are especially easy to cut.

Which is more important to learn to do, become a skilled empath or cut cords of attachment?

Either skill set will change your life in a postive way. Choose whichever appeals to you most. Hey, you could consider it a way of voting for a candidate with the Happiness Party. You!

Loads of free FAQs at my website can help you to learn more about:

Develop skills as an empath with this simple, inexpensive tutoring session between pages, Empowered by Empathy. In America or Canada, you can order it 24/7 with a toll-free number: 800-345-6665. You’ll reach a real, live human being who can answer your questions. Though I can’t guarantee that this person will be an empath.

Or use this magic empath button to securely order online. (Just teasing about that name. It’s regular old ordering, which helps to keep me blogging and, otherwise, doing this wonderful work.)

If you prefer audiobooks, you’re in luck with the audio edition of Empowered by Empathy. And you can hear a free sample by scrolling down the page to which this link takes you.

Sometimes an empath-in-training will prefer personal mentoring. This can be done over the phone or in person. Empath Empowerment is a skill set, not just a wish. It takes some learning, and the great thing about study of this kind is that you just get one session at a time.

One session might do it for you, or maybe you might need several, but either way you will only commit to the time and cost that is appropriate for you. Each session you will become more skilled as an empath until you own all the knowledge.

These individualized sessions for empath empowerment are still $125 for 55 minutes. To set one in motion, start by ordering a personal session here.

Also consider booking one of these sessions also if you’re not sure you’re an empath. I can read your aura, give you info. about empath gifts as needed. And then we can use the rest of the time for either mentoring or healing.

As an empath, or simply a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP), or if you worry that you are really, really bothered by anyone you have encountered discussing the election or watching TV news or reading articles, I would recommend a personal session of Aura Transformation. This will involve healing with Energy Spirituality, probably including  cutting a cord of attachment.

Of course, you can learn to cut cords on your own. Empath or not, you can become really good at it. The book to help you there is Cut Cords of Attachment: Heal Yourself with Energy Spirituality.  In America or Canada, you can order it 24/7 with a toll-free number: 800-345-6665. Or use our magic empath button to order this title securely online.

Another book that is especially useful for empaths is Let Today Be a Holiday, soon-to-be-released as a Kindle book at Amazon under the title 365 Days to a Stronger You: Balance Your Human Life with Helping Others as a World Server.)

The paperback can also be ordered  24/7 with a toll-free number: 800-345-6665. Or use our magic empath button to order this title, too, securely online.

Yes, I’m all for having today be a holiday. And once a year, having today being a Voting Day!

Guess where I’m going next, right after breakfast. :-)

YEY for me! I can finally say I am a skilled empath! I intuitively did what you recommended above while hanging out in line waiting to vote early this morning. I realized that I often have a tendency to go right to the emotion part and get all riled up on certain issues. This time, I was just present, waiting my turn in line. It was pretty cool!

    Thanks for the tips.

if you’re not too sick of political readings, Rahm Emanuel would be interesting. I know his sex appeal will be interesting to read :)

JORDAN, he would be interesting. I’m not sick of political readings so much as very, very busy getting ready for Japan. See the last blog post before I leave…

In addition to packing up for a month there, and doing a bunch o’ sessions for clients before taking that plane, the response to my books at the Frankfurt Book Fair was really exciting. Between that and a couple of other emails, my agent and I received requests from publishers to look at 29 different books.

Each requires attention, a packet, a chunk of attention.

The other thing going on here is that I have just two more books to put onto Kindle, the e-book program with Amazon. Although I’ve worked on this A LOT over the past six weeks, I still have two to go and hope that at least one more will be done before I leave.

So look forward to blogs coming from Japan, the Nov. zine coming out very soon, and my very best wishes, as always.

BTW somebody who works in Hollywood told me to visualize a mirror around oneself to keep off all the trash from other people or to bounce back their energy, especially if one is very exposed to public opinion. I wonder what you think about that? He also recommended this kind of protection for my workplace, which is especially toxic for an empath.

If you ask him Hollywood is one of the worst places in the world to be, even more so for sensitive people.
