Aura Reading Oscar Nominee Richard Jenkins
February 17th, 2009 by Rose Rosetree
For me, preparing this Aura Reading, involved one small surprise and then a big one.
First, I was surprised since I had never heard of Best Actor nominee Richard Jenkins. And here he was, competing with the superstars.
The biggie was that in Richard Jenkins we have the most attractive Best Actor nominee by far. Not in this picture, of course. Jenkins turns out to be shockingly handsome in the role as himself.
You wouldn’t guess it from his role in “The Visitor,” where he plays Walter. The lonely widower finds two illegal immigrants who have been living in his apartment.
Honestly, take a good look at “Walter” and then scroll down to our shocking picture of Richard. Is he cute or what?
This is going to be fun, doing my Aura Reading Film Pundit thing.
This annual Oscar ritual began with an article for the Chicago Sun-Times. I developed the technique we’ll use here, assessing whether an actor changed all the way down to those deepest human databanks of energy stored in the chakras. Aura Reading is the way to get the info.
So far, I know nothing about Jenkins except that he’s a character actor. Finding photos to use for this reading, I saw that he has played a number of movie roles where he didn’t necessarily look like the character pictured above. But he always looked unremarkable… so the photo of him I found for this reading was especially shocking.
Check out this photo of Richard Jenkins playing himself. You can see it here. (Is the man cute or what? By comparision, Brad Pitt looks like a leftover toy made of plastic.) Or use this Aura Reading Link to Richard to display the photo in a separate window. This can help you to read along with me.
Plus, when you click and pull on the edges, Richard looks even more handsome, if possible.
Likewise, you can use this Aura Reading Link for the Walter character. Open it up and compare as you explore with me, doing Aura Reading at the most sophisticated level.
Acting is tough. Movie acting in a major film is tougher. Changing all the way down to the chakras is the signature of acting greatness. To do this, the actor must inhabit a really different human personality and do it thoroughly enough to change at this very, very deepest level.
That’s what I’m seeking here, and awarding Chakra Change points only if appropriate.
Remember, your comments are most welcome. When you do your own Aura Reading, don’t feel shy about sharing your insights. As for you readers who don’t have skills yet for doing this kind of reading, you can develop them for sure. The LINKS section at the end of this post can get you started.
The Reality He Lives in
Aura Reading Databank at the Root Chakra
- As Richard: His senses are vivid, helping this actor to naturally live in a heightened reality which is more like that of your typical eight-year-old. Soulful and emotional qualities are well integrated with his physical awareness.
Intellectually analyzing things comes last in his usual sequence of noticing people, conversations, interactions. This is strikingly different from many character actors who lead with their minds.
- As Walter: If you think that character’s face looks pinched, that’s nothing compared to his reality. Middle age has turned his life into a cage of predictabilities. Walter’s reality is safe enough, but he’s tame, bitter, and judgmental. Plus, how funny is this? He mostly lives in his head.
Score one brilliant Chakra Change point for Jenkins.
Sex Appeal
Aura Reading Databank at the Belly Chakra
- As Richard: This is one sexy, enthusiastic, fun-loving guy. And guess what? I checked out a related Aura Reading Databank at the Belly Chakra, Real-Life Sexiness. It’s about what a person is really like, sexually, in contrast to the Sex Appeal Databank which is more about what that person projects as his image. For Richard, what you see is what you would get.
Another great thing about Richard’s sex appeal is that it comes with no price tags. Even non-actors can be tempted, when they have great sex appeal, to “work it.” (Is that what women today are told to do when choosing clothing, as if plying our trade?)
Aura Reading would be worth learning just for the fun, and practical use, of learning how to tell when sex appeal is — more or less — for sale. How refreshing that Richard’s isn’t. If he’s way more sexy than most mortals, that’s his business, thank you.
- As Walter: Is this character able to perform? Sure. But he’s absolutely no fun. Unlike Richard Jenkins, this fellow seems quite incapable of giving much of a ride to any partner.
Chakra Change point has been well earned. It’s tempting for a super-sexy actor to keep on full sex appeal, just because sex sells. (See my readings of the Oscar Nominees for Best Actress.) Richard made a stronger choice artistically.
Note to readers: At this point in writing my Aura Reading, I began to worry. The difference between these two versions of the actor couldn’t be bigger. Could the actor really be that good? Or did I just make a mistake and choose the wrong actor’s photo?
So I went back to Google Images and searched yet again. The photo of Jenkins we have here is younger. But many other photos of him reveal that he does look like that man I’ve been reading. He also has the ability to change appearance a great deal.
As a face reader, I note that some characteristics, like brow height, have evolved through the years. Still, it’s him, alright.
A more contemporary photo shows Jenkins and his wife. I’ll add it here just for fun, and then back to the Aura Reading.
Power in Relationships
Aura Reading Databank at the Solar Plexus Chakra
- As Richard: Power is no struggle for this actor. He’s been a charmer as long as he can remember. Just a bit of the old charm will usually take care of problems. If not, Richard Jenkins as learned to avoid arguments and move on.
In this way, he’s like the antithesis of Frank Langella, whom I read yesterday.
- As Walter: Behold the bunker mentality! Walter is used to fighting for what he wants. He’s learned skills to tenaciously hold his ground.
When conflicts arise, this character closes down energetically and prepares to do battle. It’s actually the opposite of the real Richard, who expands and brings forth charm. Score one more Chakra Change point for the actor.
Being in Touch with His Own Emotions
Aura Reading Databank at the Heart Chakra
- As Richard: Emotions aren’t terribly complicated for Richard. He feels one at a time. He knows what’s true. Therefore, he’s the kind of guy who makes contact with feelings but doesn’t dwell on them.
- As Walter: And he’s the kind of guy who doesn’t do emotions, thank you. Partly he’s brittle, partly defensive, and all the rest is habitual denial.
I have a strong feeling about this Chakra Change point. It feels as though Richard really, really deserves this one!
Communication Charisma
Aura Reading Databank at the Heart Chakra
- As Richard: Once again, charm works for him. Face Readers, check out those lip proportions: Extreme Blarney Lips!
Often I have a dislike of charm. My how-to, “Read People Deeper,” has a whole chapter on charm. If you probe it in depth, usually you won’t trust it much either. But Richard is just sweetly charming, without serious conniving or other problems beneath.
- As Walter: The most powerful communication quality this character can boast is his anger. Charm is an unknown (and missing) quantity to this character.
Score another Chakra Change point for Richard Jenkins.
Spiritual Connection
Aura Reading Databank at the Third Eye Chakra
- As Richard: Perfectly in keeping with the other Aura Reading databanks we’ve read here, Richard’s spiritual connection is simple and sweet. Although he isn’t terribly interested in spiritual growth, he honors the connection that comes naturally.
- As Walter: This character doesn’t pray. He glowers. Bitterness pervades his spiritual life, as it does so much else about him.
Of course, we get to score one more Chakra Change point here.
Moral Development
Aura Reading Databank at the Solar Plexus Chakra
What is the guiding principle of this character for making ethical choices?
- As Richard: “I’m willing to be of service to others. I accept the good things that come to me without struggle.”
- As Walter: “What’s mine is mine. Don’t take it from me and we’ll get along fine.”
Conclusion
Perfect 6 out of 6 Chakra Change points tells a lot about the caliber of acting in this nominated role. My only reservation here is that all the changes are quite one-note. By comparison, multi-note performances were done by Frank Langella and many of the women I read in the Best Actress article for my zine.
We’ll see this week, as I complete the Best Actor Aura Readings, whether any of the remaining men nominated manage to score 6 out of 6 with multi-notes. Meanwhile, I’m so glad to have met the charming Mr. Jenkins in that unforgettable way, Aura Reading.

Another way to get experience of Aura Reading databanks from the inside, as if the data were part of YOU, is to do an empath merge. I must admit to having done this when reading the Moral Development Aura Reading Databank in this article.
Develop skills as an empath with this simple, inexpensive tutoring session between pages, Empowered by Empathy. In America or Canada, you can order it 24/7 with a toll-free number: 800-345-6665. Or use this magic empath button to order online. (Just teasing about that name. It’s regular old ordering, with money, that helps to keep me blogging and, otherwise, doing this wonderful work.)
If you prefer audiobooks, you’re in luck with the audio edition of Empowered by Empathy. And you can hear a free sample by scrolling down the page to which this link takes you.
Sometimes an empath-in-training will prefer personal mentoring. This can be done over the phone or in person. Empath Empowerment is a skill set, not just a wish. It takes some learning, and the great thing about study of this kind is that you go one session at a time. One session might do it for you, or maybe you might need several, but either way you will only commit to the time and cost that is appropriate for you.
In 2009, these Personal Mentoring Sessions are still $125 for 55 minutes. To set one in motion, start by ordering a personal session here.
Once you have become a skilled empath, it will be appropriate (and totally safe) to do a dedicated technique to turn your empath gift(s) ON. My name for doing this is “Empath Merge.”
Movie watching with the extra bonus of Deeper Perception — it’s the very best way to see movies.

I think this movie was amazing and I was really impressed by the character’s transformation in the film.
I would be curious to see you read a picture from early on in the movie, to a picture of the character near the end of the film. It’s subtle, but I think his aura changes and becomes so compassionate.
It could have changed more…but it’s a realistic change. He’s less stiff, more human, more open…but still the same character. It is amazing to see the actor’s photo and how very different he is from his character.
