    Such a Great Birthday Present

March 20th, 2009 by Rose Rosetree

Blog-Buddies, you know that special feeling on a birthday, right? Today’s mine. I proudly and gratefully turn 61. (Yes, March 20 is the last day of the zodiac, as well as the last day of Pisces.) And, yes, this morning the Washington Post gave me such a fine gift.

Although the story won’t appear in print until tomorrow, online there’s an article “Science Fair Honors Student Accomplishments.” And with it, a not-bad photo of my son, Matt.

Reporting on a county-wide science fair, the Post reporter wrote:

“Academy of Science student Matthew Weber explained his model for predicting the impact of socioeconomic factors on the spread of influenza in the United States.

“Following his manipulation of data on the virus, Weber said he believes it is possible to predict future influenza breakouts based on a model incorporating socioeconomic variables. His research earned him first place in the competition’s mathematical sciences category [one of many categories for which prizes were awarded].”

Note: Like me, my son is NOT a psychic. And like both me and his Dad, Mitch, Matt IS an empath.

All along, I’ve been coaching him in how to become a Skilled Empath, not merely talented. (When I wrote the chapter in “Empowered by Empathy” on “How to Parent an Empath” he was my inspiration.)

Matt has also had a little instruction in Aura Reading. About 10 years ago, he posed for a photo that was used on the back cover of “Aura Reading Through All Your Senses.”

In less than two months, he’ll have a birthday, too. Turning 18, he’ll finally be eligible for a birthday gift where I give him a Face Reading. Before then, and not only when he’s competing as a Young Epidemiologist, Matt is a gift to me.

Mitch and Matt, my cosmic M&M treat! I’m grateful to have them in my life, and also grateful to you, my Blog-Buddies. Sending you all a fine chunk of Birthday Darshan!

    Happy Birthday, Rose!

Congratulations to Matt that his work has been recognized. Homeland security can really use his talents with their biological warfare programs. You and Mitch, I am sure are really proud.

As your lovely family continues to support one another, may you have many warm memories in the days and years to come.

GAYA, I don’t think that concern about helping poor people receive better health care (the inspiration for Matt’s research) really has anything to do with biological warfare. Nor is anyone in my family interested in working for the Department of Homeland Security.

Text on a screen doesn’t necessarily communicate emotion. To the extent that your wishes are sincere, I do warmly accept them.

You should have called your son ‘Math’ instead of Matt, but it’s phonetically identical, at least in other languages than English.

    Rose,

My sincere apologies! I certainly didn’t mean to offend you or your family, especially on your Birthday. The inspiration to help all people to receive better health care is a much needed in the world today. I think it is wonderful that Matt’s work has been recognized. I only wish the best for you all.

Perhaps, I need to adhere to my father’s advice and steer away from religion, politics, and money in polite company.

    Dear Rose,
    HAPPY, HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!!!

Congratulations/Kudos to Matt on being honored for his science fair project. It is not so surprising…look at you and Mitch!

I think it is wonderful for Matt to have the combination of mathematical ability as well as empathic ability. The awareness of both of these gifts is just what is needed to provide innovation and change in this world. I know you are so proud!
