Does Aura Reading Make Me a Snoop?

Recently I received the sweetest question from an Aura Reading Blog-Buddy. Nandi’s question was so great, I want to write two blog posts about it. Today, let’s consider this part of what she wrote: As a newer intuitive, I’m curious [about] your perspective on reading people who have not given us permission to read them. Golly, if you’re going to wait for people to give you permission to do Aura Reading, you might be waiting an awfully long time. Most people still don’t really know what an aura is, and if they think of Aura Reading at all they will say something like, “Tell me my color.” I feel strongly that you have the right to read anyone’s aura at any time. You don’t necessarily have the right to tell the person, especialy if it is negative or deeply personal. Giving unsolicited advice, at any level of perception, is just plain rude. With Aura Reading, you don’t necessarily have the right to put all your findings on Facebook or otherwise make them public — unless that person has put his/her photo out in public. Oops, that’s just about everyone today, isn’t it? And I’m not even considering something as extreme as sexting. If YOU put your photo online for others to see, why shouldn’t your aura be read as well as everything else about you? Let’s go more deeply into Nandi’s excellent question, starting with…

A SHORT HISTORY OF SNOOPING

Ask your great, great grandparents. (Call in a medium if necessary.) Long ago, it was considered really extreme to check out a woman’s ankles. What made this shameful, exactly? Has ankle viewing ever brought on an orgasm for you? Has anyone you know ever suffered terrible trauma, or some kind of psychic attack, or physical harm, just because another person took a quick peek slightly above the foot? How about viewing a woman’s legs? Or back among the Elizabethans, what about checking out a man’s gorgeous gams and those cute panty hose, or whatever it was they were wearing? Do you dare look or not? Customs change about what constitutes snooping. As you may know, plenty of Islamic women living now (or their husbands) consider it absolutely necessary for a self-respecting woman to wear a veil in public. It could be considered oh-so-horrible to view her chin. Personally, I don’t think it ever is kind to ridicule another person’s squeamishness. I wouldn’t recommend dancing around a veiled woman, giggling and singing, “Nyah-nyah, I saw the bridge of your no-ose.” However, I don’t believe that somebody’s else’s fears or limitations must become your own, either. Inquiring minds want to know. And don’t they have the right to know?

AURA READING AS A HEALER

One of my favorite people in the world is my friend Donna Eden, founder of Energy Medicine. She’s a superb aura reader. And she instructs her students not to do Aura Reading without permission. But consider the context. Intention matters for every action in life. Even at the surface of life, your purpose matters. And when you’re reading life deeper, that level of life is more powerful and, therefore, your purpose matters even more. When your purpose is to heal someone, sure, you’d better ask permission. To do Aura Reading as a healer means that you start to access information about a person’s body, deep down — whether inner systems of the body or the psychological causes of an illness. And that’s extremely personal. Moreover, just the intent to heal someone else, combined with perceiving that person at the level of Aura Reading, could start to cause change. (Heisenberg’s Uncertainty Principle, right?) It’s like when I studied Reiki, Level 2, and practiced a technique for having a conversation with my client’s subconscious mind. The very first thing you must do is ask permission. But that’s having a conversation for healing. Doing an Aura Reading doesn’t have to be about healing. Nandi (and other Blog-Buddies), Aura Reading doesn’t even have to be about being an “intuitive.” Deeper Perception simply means holding a magnifying glass up to life. And why would that require that you beg for permission?

HOW MUCH SNOOPING IS DONE, ANYWAY?

We don’t just live in an Age of Information. We live in an Age of Snooping. Try Googling on “gossip” or “celebrity.” Hey, just try Googling. People who don’t yet read auras have plenty of other ways to snoop. Say that Joe and Gladys are watching the Academy Awards on TV. Think they might just possibly be checking out things like this on their favorite actress?

• The body
• The gown
• The hair
• The makeup
• How the clothes fit
• Any increase to the implants?
• Other surgeries?
• Her mood
• Her qualities as a person
• Every detail of her body language, voice, expression
• Whom is she sitting with? How do they seem to be getting along?
• And if she actually gives a speech to accept an award, omigod! Every word, the underlying meaning, what she didn’t say but clearly meant to; what is she hiding?; did she write that speech or was it really spontaneous? etc.

When it comes to snooping, all of us do it. At the level of Aura Reading, information sharing happens all of the time. Yes, on the level of Aura Reading, everyone is constantly reading everyone else’s aura. It’s a festival of Free Aura Reading. It’s non-stop. Only problem: It’s not conscious. When you learn Aura Reading techniques, that means you gain the ability to access  the information consciously. You know, where it can do your conscious mind some good.

PRACTICAL REASONS TO READ AURAS

Such is the understanding of Aura Reading that most people have today, you have undoubtedly heard people think that this kind of thing is what Aura Reading is good for:

• Telling the purpose of your life with Aura Reading
• Telling if you are good or evil with Aura Reading
• Telling if someone is a psychic vampire or not with Aura Reading
• Telling “what color” a person’s aura is with Aura Reading
• Telling if someone is special or ordinary with Aura Reading
• Reading the future with Aura Reading

If that’s what Aura Reading really was, maybe there would be good reason to avoid doing it without permission.  But, to me, these are kindergarten ideas. For example, even if your whole gift set for reading auras was only a certain kind of clairvoyance (highly unlikely). In this very hypothetical, unrealistic case, if you could only read auras as colors, you would find that a person’s aura contains way more than one color. A human aura isn’t just a color. It is an energy field filled with information. You can read gifts of the soul, STUFF that gets in the way, etc. If you check out my how-to book on Aura Reading Through All Your Senses (See the LINKS section after this article), you’ll find a Table of Techniques listing more than 100 techniques. Same with my other books about Aura Reading, skills for Empaths, etc. – loads of practical applications. Aura Reading, done with skill, will show you the truth. So I would consider it irresponsible NOT to do detailed Aura Reading about things like this:

• Any politician I might vote for
• Anyone I might date
• Or kiss
• Friends of my son, when he was young and impressionable
• Any contractor I might hire
• A physician or acupuncturist or massage therapist
• Any friend who asks to borrow money
• Any business partner
• Any relationship where the person’s honesty matters to me

How detailed would my Aura Reading be? Depends on the situation.

• Before letting my son have a playdate, back in the day, I might just check out basics like “Does this parent take drugs, get drunk a lot, or have a big sexual problem?”
• Before dating, back in the day, I might want to preview that guy as a lover. Why not save both of us some time?

THE BIG REASON IT’S OKAY TO DO AURA READING

If you’ve studied Aura Reading with me in any way — reading this Blog, reading one of my books on the topic, doing phone mentoring with me, having me do Aura Reading on you during a personal session, etc. — you know that loads of information is available.

And you know that I consider it simple ethics that you don’t necessarily make an Aura Reading public, not unless you are reading someone who is a public figure. Steven Colbert complained about my reading his face and aura in an article for the Chicago Sun-Times. He went on to spoof me on his show, but he clearly loved it. (Check out his aura from this video clip.)

Apart from all the practical advantages Aura Reading can bring you, however, here is the very biggest reason why I believe you have the right to read auras anywhere, any time. I teach Aura Reading in the context of spiritual growth.

That’s an important technical point. Many students who come to me are much more interested in psychic development than spiritual growth, and that’s okay. But let’s be clear about the difference. (Which many folks are not.) Psychic knowledge is different from spiritual knowledge.

• Psychic knowledge is about angels, guides, spirit guides, ghosts, mediumship, channeled messages, etc. A person could spend a lifetime exploring astral-level phenomena.
• Spiritual knowledge is about God, connection to God, Oneness with God and all life, living in a state of bliss, unfolding your full potential in life, being of greatest possible service to humanity. Experiences of a spiritual nature are at the etheric level, not the astral level.

One reason my Aura Reading students do so well is that I teach Aura Reading all the way through to the spiritual level. By contrast, most systems I’ve encountered teach Aura Reading only up to some or all of the psychic level. So that Aura Reading isn’t as complete as it can be.

And if a student is involved with what I call “The Romance of the Astral,” that student won’t have much help for progressing beyond that. Aura Reading could become one more reason to stay in that colorful playground.

Here’s a tip. If you want to evolve quickly, commit to human life or to spiritual life. Astral life is more likely to keep you in a holding pattern.

Inherent in all my techniques of Aura Reading (Also the techniques for Skilled Empath Merge), there is a certain kind of intention. My purpose is to help anyone who reads auras to position consciousness in such a way as to be able to grow spiritually, to become more awake inside.

Aura Reading can definitely help make that happen, depending on how the Aura Reading is done. Think for a minute about how you connect with God. Or whatever name you prefer to give to That. (Yesterday, I had a client who wished to call it “Something Great,” and that worked just fine for her session.)

God is present everywhere. God is always available to you, whatever your level of consciousness. But, from your side, wouldn’t you like to have the clearest experience possible?

You can call on God, or pray, while half asleep. Alternatively, you could do it while wide awake. And which way do you think you’ll experience that divine presence more clearly? Aura Reading is the deepest level of perception, tucked inside Earth School reality, like a secret pocket or hidden staircase.

Aura Reading, energetic literacy, brings you to the level of direct experience of angels, of God, of the very deepest human secrets. These are not secrets like gossiping about a movie star. These are secrets that wake up your soul, and the very deepest compassion.

Want to learn about the human heart? Or mind? Or will? Then read auras. Think that God will scold you for paying such close attention? This is a world designed for a game of Peek-a-Boo with God. And you’ll have a whole lot more fun playing that game when you give yourself license to do Aura Reading.
