Guest Post on Pot and Sunscreen by Jim Curry
March 11th, 2010 by Rose Rosetree
Jim Curry is a student in my Face Reading Correspondence Course, as well as a long-time student of energetic literacy. The timing of this blog post is amazing to me.
Some of you Blog-Buddies may know that close to a year ago, National Public Radio did a segment on “What If Pot Were Legal?” or a similar name. I emailed a comment that was read on the air.
Recently, I had a first session with Gladys. She told me:
“When I heard that comment of yours, it got me thinking. The idea of weed depositing STUFF made sense. I thought about it some more. Long story short, I’ve stopped smoking for a couple of months now. I thought you’d like to know. I had been a pothead for 20 years.”
And now, here’s our Guest Post from Jim.
I think Ms. Rosetree’s article on the effects of marijuana on the user were quite good and useful. It seems to me an excellent idea if she would expand upon them in one of her coming books. It could make a fascinating chapter and, of course, I could get even more details.
You must understand that this marijuana idea doesn’t just apply to marijuana. You see, having trained in mathematics and engineering applications of mathematics, I was never famous among my fellow students as a person attuned to the subtle energies and the insights of –intuition about people. Nonetheless, I have sought systematically to improve in many ways, and that includes attempts to become more intuitive regarding people, too.
Along that path, I have met and dealt with quite a large number of reasonably high powered “new age” or “subtle energy” or “aura sensitive” people. To my surprise, I have found that most of them are quite unpleasant people to deal with. I find many of them quite harsh and arrogant.
This is a puzzle, of course. Why would a person of higher perception actually be harsh and arrogant—these are not higher qualities, and a person of learning should know better than that.
So, I have always held the quandary. How can these people from whom I wish to learn something important actually be so primitive and unaccomplished?????? How can this BE? Shouldn’t greater perception mean greater wisdom???? Greater wisdom is not arrogant. In fact, one of the surest and deadliest synonyms for the most abject ignorance is simply—self-righteousness.
My own answers come this way: First, there are genuinely gifted people who are very insecure. They have a gift and wish to use it, but they are very insecure and unprepared for questions. So, they become harsh as a defensive mechanism. These, I think, are not in short supply.
Second, there are people who are cynical. Such people exert powers that they don’t really possess or that they have corrupted to the point of uselessness, and they are harsh for different reasons. I have found people of both sorts.
Mrs. Rosetree points out that a person who has very long contact with the astral can easily come to feel more highly informed, and this can, in itself, cause this sort of reaction.
So, I get to add another to the list. Some people are simply a little bit “burned” by the light of other realms.
They needed sunscreen they didn’t have.
It should be clear to the slowest and most ineffective student that improved perception is not an improvement if it leaves a person morally impoverished.
Mrs. Rosetree has not succumbed, in my presence, to this sort of harshness or to arrogance—and I think that’s good. There are obviously characteristics in my “energetic makeup” that are unwelcome to sensitive people. So, she does well—and she’s one of very few “energetically skilled ” people who are willing to exercise a high degree of forbearance regarding outside learners.

Jim,
Great post, well-stated, articulately presented and argued. I am glad you have pursued learning in energy literacy but have also used your discernment in the process.

Hi Jim,
Thank you for writing your post! I found it very interesting! And I have seem what you speak of! I have noticed that it is very difficult for new agey, intuitive-types to talk to or be around the more linear type individuals such as engineers and such. And to me it seems it is because the linear side of them is so under-developed that it is actually very uncomfortable for them to be around the “engineer/mathematician type energy. I will tell you that more balanced new agers who have a more well developed left hemisphere of the brain are better able to handle being around engineer types.
I am a highly intuitive person but I also really like facts and proof! I really like being around engineering/mathematician types because I find they have a very orderly energy that is somehow very balancing and calming for me because it deals with the rational.
One of the reasons that I really like Rose and her work is that she is highly gifted in the perception of other realms and she is also very practical and pragmatic. She is working to make things quantifiable. I personally thing this is very important!
So, I think energy medicine needs people who walk in both worlds. And right now there are not as many of those people as there could be. But it is what is very much needed–because it is what will bring legitimacy to the field of energy medicine. So, hang in there!

This is a little off topic but–I also want to say “hello” to Anita! I hope you are well.
