Aura Reading, How Fame Changed Tom Cruise

When Tom Cruise became really famous, aura and all

Yes, here comes an aura reading won by Blog-Buddy BRIDGET for her nomination of Tom Cruise for our Fame Change Contest for Face Reading or Aura Reading, Your Choice.

She nominated Tom Cruise as candidate for a Fame Aura Reading, meaning research of his chakra databanks, comparing how fame may have changed him. In her Comment 8 at that blog post, BRIDGET expressed curiousity about Cruise’s involvement in Scientology as well. She worked hard to find a photo pre-fame, and came up with “the only high school pic I can find where it doesn’t seem like he’s posing.”

That would be this one.

Tom Cruise with chakra databanks pre-fame

Young Tom Cruise was still posing, of course. Just as an athlete rather than an actor.

Technical points about today’s Fame Aura Reading

Two photos will be used today, Pre-Fame Tom Cruise — that youthful photo where he was merely a school celebrity. You can use the following link to open up the same version of this aura reader’s Tom Cruise photograph. Or click onto the next link for a larger-sized version of the Young Tom Cruise photograph suitable for aura reading.

At the top of today’s post is a still from the actor’s big screen performance in “Risky Business.” Although famous by then, in the 1983 film, Tom Cruise wasn’t nearly as long-time famous as he would become.

If any of you Blog-Buddies would like to do aura reading Guest Post, or personal reading of his aura, in that mid-famous mode, here is a link to the Risky Business aura reading photo at the top of this post, only a larger version. 🙂

What couldn’t I resist choosing for this post, representing a Very Famous Supersized Celebrity Superstar Tom Cruise?

Only the famous Oprah moment of  Tom Cruise in love and jumping on the couch.

Tom Cruise, energy all excited, down to the chakra databanks

Personally, I haven’t watched the famous Tom Cruise Interview with Oprah Winfrey. Of course, I heard about it as a major pop culture event. Here is a summary courtesy of Wikipedia on Tom Cruise, a rather extended summary because you may find it as fascinating as I did:

During his relationship with Katie Holmes, Cruise made several public pronouncements of his love for her, most notably during the “couch incident” on The Oprah Winfrey Show of May 23, 2005. Cruise “jumped around the set, hopped onto a couch, fell to one knee and repeatedly professed his love for his new girlfriend”.[78]

The phrase “jumping the couch”, fashioned after “jumping the shark“, is used to describe someone “going off the deep end” in public in a manner extreme enough to tarnish his or her reputation.[79] It enjoyed a short-lived popularity, being chosen by the editors of the Historical Dictionary of American Slang as the “slang term of the year” in 2005[80] and by the nonprofit group Global Language Monitor as one of its top phrases for the year.[81]

The “couch incident” was voted No.1 of 2005’s “Most Surprising Television Moments” on a countdown on E![citation needed] and No.5 at BoxOfficeProphets.com.[82] and was the subject of numerous parodies, including the epilogue of Scary Movie 4, an episode of South Park, a short on Sesame Street,[83] and an episode of Family Guy. Entertainment Weekly put it on its end-of-the-decade, “best-of” list, saying, “Lesson learned: Tell, don’t show“.[84]

In early May 2008, Cruise reappeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show to celebrate 25 years in the film business. The feature was a two hour special: the first hour showed Oprah spending the day with Cruise at his home in Telluride, Colorado on May 2.

Of course, the Couch Incident showed what a physical person (and physical actor) Cruise is. Would you or I dare to take a leap like that on one of the nation’s top TV shows?

Let’s face it. Like me, perhaps, you are not both super-casual about being a Supersized Superstar Celebrity. Nor are you quite that physically confident that you would stay put on the sofa and not fall off it into some very embarrassing splayed-leg, weeping from pain, accident-inflicted version of yourself. 😉

Here is the Wikipedia link to Tom Cruise during the Couch Incident. This link helps you to dependably have a Couch Incident photo for reading Tom Cruise’s aura .

Anything else technically to note about this aura reading?

Of course, I am going to use a technique of Energetic Literacy for this aura reading. You are invited to research as well, and definitely feel welcome to add your comments below. Even if you do Stage One Energetic Literacy so far, and it is more of a general energy reading, that would be your energy reading, and worth noting here. Personally, I will be using a variation on the “Plug In with a Photo” technique from “Read People Deeper.”

Aura Reading Databank at the Root Chakra: Personal Presence When With Others in the Room

  • Tom Cruise, Pre-Fame

8 inches. Never feeling good enough. Insecure in a way that causes him to seek attention and external validation.

  • Tom Cruise, After Decades of Extreme Fame

90 miles of power. By now, Tom Cruise has been very famous for a very long time.

Wielding a sense of authority and superiority, Tom is used to having his orders followed. He is used to getting his way. He is used to receiving “Yes” from people, and without having hard to work for it.

In this couch incident, Tom Cruise knows he is hamming things up a bit. At this chakra databank, though, Tom is only exaggerating the well-established kind of presence he has enjoyed for years:

A celebrity. Famous. Admired. People around him turn gooey.

“If I say it, believe it, because it must be true” — that’s the quality here.

Aura Reading Databank at the Solar Plexus Chakra: Social Status Awareness

  • Tom Cruise, Pre-Fame

90 miles. This is, after all, a posed photo. (You know what I mean, BRIDGET.) Student Tom is posing with athletes, a big opportunity for social status in the big, small world of high school. I suspect this moment of posing accentuates an imbalance Tom usually has to a lesser degree.

Certainly, it seems to me, Young Tom Cruise has an exceptionally large investment in how others see him. In this chakra databank at the time of this photo, his ambitions are huge. Cruise aims to be admired, idolized, mega-famous, up on a pedestal.

Even aiming in this direction makes him feel better than when receiving little crumbs of attention in real life. He lives for a certain intensity of admiration directed towards his important self that the world will eventually recognize.

  • Tom Cruise, After Decades of Extreme Fame

90 miles. Being cute, acting playful.

Yet this hamming up is done by a guy who feels like one of the most powerful men in the world.

No longer does Tom Cruise worry about his social status. His top-level status is taken for granted like a foot or an arm. Cruise feels celebrity-comfortable, even when joking around.

He is like a king who waves his gem-studded crown in the air, joking, before he returns the crown to his head. All the while, he sits at his throne, well aware that courtiers will applaud his every move.

Aura Reading Databank at the Heart Chakra: Emotional Awareness of Others in Personal Life

  • Tom Cruise, Pre-Fame

10 inches. The purpose of others he knows is to appreciate him, Tom Cruise. That’s what they’re good for, really, being honest about it.

To the extent others feed his sense of importance, he bestows upon them the favor of some emotional attention.

  • Tom Cruise, After Decades of Extreme Fame

9 inches. Mr. Cruise still doesn’t notice other people much. By now he is, however, an actor. His persona as an actor demands that he have “Big, personal relationships.”

At the time of the Couch Incident, Tom Cruise is doing an actor’s performance about having and caring. However, he isn’t terribly convincing at this. (See more about this in the “Conclusion” of today’s post.)

Aura Reading Databank at the Heart Chakra: Emotional Sense of Self with Others as a Performer

  • Tom Cruise, Pre-Fame

The chakra databank isn’t installed yet. As you may know, aura readers, about half of a person’s chakra databanks are standard issue for a human being. Like the next one I’ll read here in our Fame Aura Reading. By contrast the other half depend on the person’s spiritual Ph.D. program, lifestyle, etc. He isn’t a performer yet, so related chakra databanks aren’t installed yet.

  • Tom Cruise, After Decades of Extreme Fame

45 miles. He shimmers, he shines, he sends out such charisma.

Tom feels secure, even graced.

This is the first chakra databank where I notice something unusual that could, perhaps, be related to his Scientology practices. Certain components of emotional STUFF have been blanked out, numbed out.

Emotions like fear, insecurity, sadness, self-doubt still are present in the form of STUFF. However, there is a kind of habituation, or numbness, that causes these to be pushed into a long-term type of denial.

Basically, the Scientologist’s STUFF doesn’t bother him much subconsciously or consciously. Deeper down, oboy, that STUFF still exisits, with all the emotional and energetic limitations, chemically and structurally and karmically.

However, Tom is free for most human purposes.

Fascinating! If I wind up referring to this elsewhere in today’s Fame Aura Reading, I will refer to it as “The Scientology Haze.”

Aura Reading Databank at the Heart Chakra: Emotional Sense of Self in Personal Life

  • Tom Cruise, Pre-Fame

25 feet. On a good day. And the moment of being photograph counts as “on a good day.”

Young Tom Cruise goes up and down a lot in his sense of self. Identity is very related to having people pay attention to him.

In this moment, athlete Tom feels as though some of his wishes and dreams for himself are coming true. He feels real. Indeed, he feels as though life is worth living because he can make his dreams come true.

Note that emotional sense of self in his personal life is still (and already) mixed in with how he is viewed in public. Interesting!

That’s an interesting educational experience at Earth School. You, for instance, Blog-Buddies, may not have been involved ever in such an experiment. Personal life can be just about personal life. Sense of self emotionally can be based on internal validation. So many possible experiences available for us while being human!

  • Tom Cruise, After Decades of Extreme Fame

17 inches. Tom’s “Cruise Control” — his sense of control over himself — was discussed in the last chakra databank reading of him post-Scientology. Here we get to see a combination of the after effects of that, plus the impact on him of the extreme fame.

In his personal life, Tom has moods that he winds up acting out. Why? It feels like expressing himself.

In a way it is. Only I think the Scientology Haze buffers his recognition of how icky the little moment of bad mood could appeaer to others.

I suspect, from the quality of this chakra databank, by this time, when in private, Tom is prone to pretty intense bursts of temper and pettiness. These moods just have to come out — that’s how it feels to him — and so he has to act them out. In Cruise’s personal life, acted-out negative moods have probably come out more and more in recent years.

To others, it might seem like he is having a temper tantrum.

But really this chakra databank is just one of the vulnerable parts of his aura where repressed and denied feelings pop out. Like having a shadow self briefly be expressed without the person’s consciously knowing exactly what’s going on.

Reading Tom’s aura I would like to make a distinction between the common expression of shadow self, that happens often, versus the particular pattern of numbness related to the Scientology Haze.

Aura Reading Databank at the Throat Chakra: Communication as a Celebrity

  • Tom Cruise, Pre-Fame

Tom does have this chakra databank installed, or a similar version, more like “Communication as Someone Who is Popular.”

10 feet. He is experimenting with being serious and a bit inaccessible, a mysterious person whom other kids would like to get to know. The experimenting with his image, as a communicator, is part of the Tom Cruise drive, already established, that he absolutely must “Be somebody.”

  • Tom Cruise, After Decades of Extreme Fame

Fills the room. Tom is trying to act cute, playful.

However, he can only control the communcation to some degree. So the sequence within this chakra databank does start as playful, endearing, communication. Yet there is an edge. The edge comes from his long-term habit of being listened to as “Tom Cruise, the Supersized Superstar Celebrity.”

Expectations of power have become habitual. Expectations of being listened to, applauded, indulged, even groveled to.

It sends a mixed message, trying to add “Endearing and cute” to the mix. By analogy, picture a battle-scarred lion, fierce and striding. Then imagine him pretending to be a cute little cub.

Only if he were at home with his own personal cub, and he really felt lion-like love for his cute baby cub. And probably not if this lion was not also on one of America’s biggest television shows.

Aura Reading Databank at the Throat Chakra: Communication in Personal Life

  • Tom Cruise, Pre-Fame

11 inches. Anger and defiance are strong qualities at this time, especially directed toward authority figures and people of any age who do not appreciate him. Tom knows how to stuff down chronic frustration that he isn’t being treated as the important person he feels himself to be.

He works to control what he expresses out loud.

  • Tom Cruise, After Decades of Extreme Fame

11 inches. Like many a long-time celebrity, Tom Cruise is diminished in personal life. This chakra databank is a perfect example.

Mostly he lives, and communicates, large. This chakra databank, revealing Cruise’s personal life, is not as prized by him. Attention is not paid to it.

Over the years, his personal life is showing more and more of the negative implications of fame and what I have referred to already as the Scientology Haze. So a pettiness takes over his communication when he is “just” with people like his wife or friends.

People around him who aren’t awed by Tom’s gigantic fame might find him pretty unstable and unpleasant to deal with.

Aura Reading Databank at the Third Eye Chakra: Compassionate Appreciation for His Human Life

  • Tom Cruise, Pre-Fame

18 feet. Ah, this is the loveliest chakra databank I have read so far in Tom Cruise.

Deep within him, Tom Cruise has a spiritual recognition that he has made the best of some big difficulties in his life so far. He has a sense that something better awaits him if he can just keep himself together. (Any of you Blog-Buddies know about Tom Cruise’s early years? Seems as though he has gone through some very harsh experiences. Do share what you know….)

  • Tom Cruise, After Decades of Extreme Fame

9 inches. Spiritually, Tom Cruise is pretty numbed out and empty now.

It has crept up on him. Not so much because of the fame, I suspect, but more a consequence of the Scientology Haze.

Seems to me, Tom Cruise lives with a very limited, hollow version of compassion for himself during this phase of this human lifetime. Reminiscent of how some elders become stiffer and stiffer over time.

The Scientology Haze, a side effect of his spiritual practice, has stiffened him beyond ways in which that practice used to be convenient, numbing his pain away.

Aura Reading Databank at the Third Eye Chakra: Connection to Spiritual Source

  • Tom Cruise, Pre-Fame

This photo is also pre-Scientology, I suspect. Again, I don’t know much about Cruise. I just checked with the Wikipedia article mentioned earlier, according to which he didn’t begin Scientology practices until 1990.

40 feet. Tom has a vulnerable quality of spiritual connection, but it is large in size, reflecting a strong need for inner support.

Young Tom Cruise doesn’t feel spiritually secure, but he does reach out regularly. He wants very much to find a spiritual connection he can depend on more. The biggest motivator of this spiritual yearning, at the time of this photo, is how disappointing he finds humankind. The Divine offers the promise of a source of caring about him to a refreshing degree, a cosmic caring that he can trust.

  • Tom Cruise, After Decades of Extreme Fame

9 inches. There isn’t much of a relationship between Tom and God, right now, neither in terms of his conscious experience nor his subconscious habits.

Of course, nothing can really erase that Divine relationship. Even if it seems blotted out during a lifetime, once that human incarnation ends, the soul gets cleaned up on The Other Side and then proceeds to an amazing heaven. (My belief system, anyway.)

Meanwhile, back at this chakra databank, money and prestige and looking good have usurped the position of God. Worldly delights like these have become stand-ins.

Not satisfying for Tom Cruise, yet more securely experienced than what he had in that earlier reading of the same chakra databank in Tom the athlete.

That warm, loving, experience of the Divine could come back stronger than ever. Of course! Where there’s life, there is hope of the Divine. Only this isn’t the experience which has become everyday life for Tom the Supersized Superstar Celebrity.

Conclusion to Fame Aura Reading of Tom Cruise

What is the difference between being a movie star versus being a great actor?

People come to see the movie star play himself. Whereas people come to see the performance of a Meryl Streep or Colin Firth or Tom Hanks or Helen Mirren.

Tom Cruise is definitely an actor of the former kind, a big personality movie star. Has he ever been convincing, acting in a role where he pretends to be someone else? Why bother?

Loads of movie watchers enjoy that one big role belonging to Tom Cruise.

He has a lot to teach his fans about loving fame, dealing with fame, being important, physical courage and daring.

Hi Rose, Thank you for that fascinating aura reading. I dug up a book about Tom Cruise and the following is a brief synopsis of his early life:
from a toddler he moved frequently. He struggled to learn all through school only finding out later that he was dyslexic. He described feeling frustrated and humiliated. He is quoted as saying re: school “I felt anxious and angry”. He also suffered physical symptoms. He described how once a teacher” hurled” him over a desk. He was smaller than the other boys and was bullied at school until he “toughened up” in high school and became quite aggressive and protective of anyone being bullied.
His father was cruel and unpredictable. He is quoted as saying” I would get hit and not know why” . Also quoted as saying He always felt he had barriers to overcome. Was afraid of father who he described as cowardly and a bully. His parents eventually divorced and Tom had to get a job at 13 to help support the family. His mother and sisters loved and adored him which he craved. Hope this gives some clarity as to his early history.

    PAIGE, fascinating! Thank you.

Thank you for this reading, Rose! What a great example of how fame (sought-after) can play such a huge part in someone’s life and identity. And as always, the reading was a compassion-awakener for me (now admittedly not a Cruise fan in my non-teenage-smitten years).

This answers so many questions I had about Tom. Why was he so technical & cold in his rockstar musical? Why couldn’t he capture the energy of a troubled artist? Why did he abandon Catholicism?
Why was his family’s poorest Christmas his favorite Christmas?

The numbness connects those dots. Now I know why he always acts with a hard, cold, technical edge. He doesn’t have the warmth musical artists have, that personal emotion they struggle with, have so he couldn’t fake it. Maybe he felt so much at one time he just wanted everything numbed. Maybe the level of personal love and compassion he had for himself and others is buried so far down that all he can do now is cherish the memory of it during that Christmas. Amazing, thank you, Rose. This has taught me to embrace the pain of struggling because if I give up hope I might become numb and stop evolving in this lifetime.

Thank you Rose, this is an incredible reading. I really like your description of the haze.

    Jill Erin says:

What an interesting read, Rose. Thank you.

Personally, I have never like Tom’s “acting” for the very reason you point out. He is just himself in every role I have ever seen him in. The movies were good, but not because of him, at all, in my opinion.

That Scientology Haze is a real good lesson in the effects of striving to always be “positive” and never “negative”. Fascinating.

The contrast of the seeking for fame as an identity, as is seen in Tom, to seeking perfection in ones acting skills just as anyone might seek to do the best job possible, no matter what it is, is pretty interesting. I guess it is like seeking money instead of a fulfilling career.

  • 7

JILL ERIN, you packed so much power and perceptiveness into this contrast.

I’m especially fascinated by the point in your second paragraph. Scientology is a genuine path in life, well defined, with techniques and practices and a way of life.

And with, some would say, plenty of cult mind control.

However, there are plenty of simpler techniques to “always be positive and never negative.”

Rose calls it all, “Ways of lying to yourself.”

I definitely don’t recommend anything like that. Just recently, I helped GLADYS, a client who had quite a spiritual addiction. For her, it was quite typical that she would improve herself during the day to “Be positive.”

I asked GLADYS what she did while with people who weren’t positive. She summed up her habitual technique as “I try to block their energies.”

Well, not only are energies not contagious — like leprosy? But the well-meant act of self-protection caused GLADYS to avoid participating in her own life fully, as a human being.

  • 8

JILL ERIN, and other Blog-Buddies, I wonder what you think of this further conclusion.

I think it is almost by definition… a humbling experience to live on earth. After all, each of us goes from being a fine, stand-up, super-happy angel to incarnating into a world replete with illusions and changing situations and things that appear real. (Our own pain included.)

It takes a kind of humility to un-self-consciously admit, “My human self feels grumpy.” Or “My feelings are hurt.”

Yet these and other negative experiences are perfectly human. They happen even after Enlightenment.

What’s the difference after Enlightenment? The mood is there. Then it passes. Meanwhile, nothing changes about who you really are, and joy remains available to you beneath the surface of life.

Long before Enlightenment, it helps to develop the humility to handle what is not “positive.” Whether in yourself or in others.

The soul cannot be damaged. Fire cannot burn it. Water cannot wet it. (As it says in the Bhagavad Gita.)

I would add, other people’s moods cannot wreck anyone’s soul either, not even the soul belonging to a seriously-quickly-evolving bystander.

    Primmie says:

I love Shakespeare’s phrase “To thine own self be true”. Trying to be positive or changing my feelings has never really appealed to me.
