Yes, JORDAN. That was delightful.

Blog-Buddies, comedian David Letterman was pretending to stir up sibling rivalry with ELI MANNING's brother PAYTON MANNING.

Because evidently ELI now has two Most Valuable Player Rings. But then ELI came back and said his brother has four MVP rings.

Some family!

BTW, JORDAN and other Blog-Buddies, "MIKE" in Comment 712 is actually my husband, and Appointment Scheduler and Workshop Coordinator and Webmaster, MITCH WEBER.

This was his first nomination for the Enlightenment Life List. He gave me permission to use his name. Originally I thought he just gave me permission to include his nomination.

MITCH is a long-time fan of the New York Giants football team.

AMANDA, so glad this matter is going to be resolved soon, as it has been hanging for quite some time. That alone can be cause for a lighter heart.

And I'm so glad the latest post has been relevant to your handling this.

You know, a light heart DOES help. And paying attention to objective reality, in contrast to subjective reality, adds to that lightness.

Amanda, with her terrifying comments? LOL

Amanda's perpetual, incessant talking about demons? LOL

Even your horse doesn't do that, right? Not in objective reality. ;-)

Aw, I loved watching that interview. Funny when Eli didn't take the bait about taunting his brother with his multiple Superbowl rings. He's so completely unconcerned with trying to impress anyone by being anything less than genuine, and clearly he's not interested in being mean!

ROSE, another wonderful post, thank you.

Timely as well. I am currently engaged in preparing a defence against a spiritually addicted teacher who, when I and my fellow students complained about their unprofessional standards on a course we attended two years ago, slapped us with accusations of slander and defamation. Entirely untrue I might add :)

What I'm mainly praying for is lightness of heart so that I don't get caught up in anger, repulsion, etc as I deal with these unpleasant complaints.

(An example from her court deposition: "Amanda scares me with her comments, constant talk of evil and demons etc. I want her to keep away from me")

Keeping a light heart, noticing but not allowing these barbs to get caught in me, and dealing ruthlessly with the objective facts of the matter in an appropriately professional manner - these are the techniques I am realising are most helpful in difficult situations.

So, thank you for this post which I found supportive and wise over the last few days.

Wishing a light heart to all of us on this blog :)

Well, it's not easy to be a sometimes-critic of something you also love. It's a tough balancing act, and it's bound to ruffle feathers occasionally. Goodness knows I'm not very good at it — I ruffle feathers all the time, even when I don't mean to. So I can understand and empathize. I think the best of us New Agers are feisty as well as compassionate. ;)

CHARLES, you are so welcome. You know, I find myself very proud to be part of the New Age community worldwide. I want very much to help us to move forward.

Sometimes it is difficult to draw distinctions or say no to certain bits of New Age culture and, as we both know, sometimes I have struggled with seeming to draw a hard line, even when I'm just trying my best to bring truth and self-authority into one same conversation.

Reading a comment like this is very heartening to me so, again, thank you.

Okay, since you asked (in another thread), I just wanted to say I think these recent posts about guidance have been absolutely wonderful. In fact, I think it's one of the most important topics you've written about. I wish everyone with an interest in spirituality and metaphysics would read these. It would be such a big shift for a lot of folks if they could really "get" this.

I guess I was fortunate. Relatively early in my metaphysical education, I was trained in intuitive methods that emphasized neutral observation and a choice-centered approach over guidance. In fact, offering clients any guidance at all was discouraged. Ironically, the word "psychic" was used a lot in this methodology, but not in the same way you define it. Philosophically, I think it was very similar to the kind of approach you teach.

Over the years, I trained in a number of other modalities, including some that were all about astral-level guidance (like, for example, the one created by that famous authority on angels you mentioned). ;) But the principles of self-authority I learned early on stayed with me, and consequently I always viewed guidance as something to consider rather than something I needed to follow. No matter what spiritual being the guidance is coming from, it's someone else's opinion. Useful? Possibly. But each of us has to decide that based on our own values and desires.

So thank you very much for saying this: "Total surrender to astral-level guidance is NOT the same thing as Enlightenment. It is spiritual addiction." Sadly, in the metaphysical community, it also seems to be very widespread.

Eloquently put, CHARLES. Around the time you were writing this comment, I was doing aura reading research for my client GLADYS.

She was baffled by behavior of a significant other, JOE.

By pulling out an energetic hologram, I was able to research what motivated him. Unlike for GLADYS, JOE's level of consciousness was almost completely geared towards external validation.

By contrast, GLADYS is awake inside in a way that allows her to be far more interested in (and able to process) internal validation.

One hunch I have, CHARLES, is that sometimes -- not always ;-) -- those New Age cliches appeal to people who have enough consciousness available to begin to pay attention to external validation and notice it AS validation.

A next step for many people would be to start to seek internal validation.

Meanwhile, I think the absence of internal validation helps to explain why so many folks NEED external validation in the form of synchronicity or taking assignments in life from immediate circumstances (as in the "mirror" idea).

Anyway, thank you so much for sharing your thoughts about this thread. Anything more to share here? Seems as though you have more up your sleeve....

SANDRA, thank you so much for representing me and other Blog-Buddies who weren't able to participate this time.

I love that Mommy Earth too, for sure.

When Catrien let me know about this service project I told her that I didn't feel called to participate, as I'm already doing the 60 hours or so per week, so when not fulfilling my various World Server abilities I really need to just hang out these days.

I was hoping that by posting this, some of you'all would be able to participate. SANDRA, thank you so much.

"No, everyone in your life does not have to be re-interpreted as your mirror." Thank you for saying that! I too get tired of the new age habit of interpreting absolutely everything as a "self-issue" of some kind.

It seems to me that a lot of folks just take spiritual observations too far. They notice that something is SOMETIMES true, and then they want to make it ALWAYS true. Like the mirror thing. Sometimes a person will show up in one's life and act as a mirror, and if that happens and you recognize it, wow! What a valuable insight! But the leap from "this is something that happens sometimes" to "this is the meaning of every single encounter with another person" is huge and silly.

Same thing with coincidences and synchronicity. Meaningful coincidences happen sometimes, but that doesn't mean "there are no coincidences." Oh, how I grit my teeth every time I hear that one! There ARE meaningless coincidences. There really are! They happen every day. In fact, lots of totally meaningless things happen all the time in the universe. Every little thing that happens is not some kind of secret, encoded (but undoubtedly profound) guidance from the Ascended Masters or the Pleiadians or even one's Higher Self.
