Just as birdwatchers keep a life list of exotic birds they have spotted, I have begun a list. Mine contains names of people whom I consider spiritually Enlightened. Not just highly evolved or talented or amazing as human beings, but spiritually Enlightened.
Today’s post contains my running list, first published on Sunday, July 18, 2010. I plan to update it over the years. I also hope to be included on that list some day.
But, hey, this is to be a post about celebration, not my personal sobbing.
Actually, I am far enough along in my journey NOT to be obsessed (as I once was) over how fast I can become Enlightened. Panic, racing, etc. tend to show up when someone is either new to a spiritual journey or else seriously out of balance. Read More »

Do you read a lot? I do. I believe it’s important to read books, buy books, and review books for websites like Amazon.com. Here in Japan, I do that just as I do at home.
One of the books I brought with me is an advance copy of Karma and Reincarnation by Barbara Y. Martin. Her co-author is Dimitri Moraitis. The publisher, Tarcher, sent it for possible review in my column for Pathways Magazine. The book has certainly made me think a great deal, though not entirely as the authors intended. Read More »

New female heads of state don’t happen daily, do they? In Australia they have happened exactly NEVER… before last Thursday. So let’s celebrate by giving a Face Reading to Australia’s first female prime minister. (Plus a bit of Aura Reading, too, at the end.)
Background on Face Reading Secrets(R)
As usual, I’ll be using my system of Face Reading Secrets for this short profile. The basics you need to know here are to look at one item of face reading data at a time. Read More »

Energy Hypochondria
Continuing our series about the tricky pleasures of victimhood, let’s consider a related problem. I call it ”Energy Hypochondria.”
Energy Hypochondria means worrying about every twinge of energy, akin to the way a hypochondriac could fret over any proprioceptive experience (i.e., the very subjective, internal feedback system each person has to register information about aches, pains, etc.).
To understand this version of Sweet Victimhood, it can be useful to remember the three stages of energetic literacy. So here we go: Read More »

Can you find the original Heidi Montag?
Thus quoth The Huffington Post about the reality TV star’s 10 cosmetic surgeries in one day:
Maybe she should consider surgery on the one place she needs it – her brain!
Really, what could the 23-year-old kid have been thinking? Her latest publicity stunt got her more than a supplement to 15 minutes of fame. She got herself smaller — as in nose. She got herself bigger in all the places you would expect. Read More »

Alice Hoffman ready for aura reading
Joolie nominated the final winning entry for our Writer Profile Contest. She wrote:
I suggest Alice Hoffman for an aura reading. I like that her characters and places have a magical quality as a matter of course and without a hint of silliness.
Practical Magic is the only Hoffman novel I’ve read so far. I enjoyed and admired it. Not until I went to the Great Alice Hoffman Website, Read More »

Armistead Maupin, Complete with Aura
Jennifer is the second winner of our writer profile contest. I couldn’t resist her nomination of Armistead Maupin, since I’m such a fan. The novelist is best known for Tales of the City, which I enjoyed even more in print than dramatized on TV, with enjoyment being huge in both cases.
Tender and trashy, sardonic and quirky, Maupin is such an original. I keep waiting for him to produce more novels but from his website you can tell that (as I suspected from reading his other novels) the man definitely has a life. Read More »

Rose Rosetree and student
Continuing our conversations about the importance of emotional self-awareness, Blog-Buddy Holly also asked:
Some people don’t value emotions. What are the consequences to this? I’m just wondering, as I was never taught/told/modeled that emotions were to be heeded in any way (and certainly never discussed). Read More »

In “The Blind Side,” Sandra Bullock plays Leigh Anne Tuohy, a suburban mom who takes in a homeless African-American teenager and encourages his talents as a football player.
Bullock, herself, is the daughter of an opera singer. The comparison photo used for this chakra databank, film-critique, aura reading research… comes from her life as a long-time celebrity.
One research item at a time, I compare the role being played with the actress’ own way of playing herself. Read More »

Yesterday I was in session with “Gladys.” She has come a long way, healing problems in relationships with her family. Cutting major cords of attachment for her, one session at a time, has cleared out old patterns of STUFF. So Gladys is now in a great position to upgrade her quality of life.
Yet Gladys still doesn’t have social skills that reflect her well cleaned-up aura.
Who would have taught them to her? Usually we learn our best communication skills from parents. In a dysfunctional home, how can one learn anything but dysfunction?
As we talked, Gladys brought up the popular New Age view that difficult people in our lives mirror our own problems. This is the gist of what I told her, supplying the counter-culture (for now) perspective of energetic literacy. Read More »
