One Life Contract, Six Resources

Blog-Buddies, I love when one of our threads brings up more threads. Unlike picking apart that skinny stuff caught in a sewing needle, these threads within threads can be — as you’ll read soon from DAVE — fascinating. Our ongoing conversation about The Need for Tenderness is bristling with thread, thread about Life Contracts.

Here is how I defined life contracts yesterday:

Before incarnating, you made an agreement about certain things in this lifetime. You chose your parents, the maximum number of life breaths, and ways that you especially wanted to grow during this particular incarnation.

Based on my work with Energy Release Regression Therapy, I am convinced about this contract business. Earth really is a school, an amazing academy for spiritual growth.

If you aim to grow a lot during a lifetime, you’ll purposely front-load your life contract up to the age of 21 (or for some wildly ambitious souls, 28). Oh, the painful things you’ll include purposely!

You’ll pay back huge amounts of karma from past lives. You’ll set up things like cruel parenting, difficult siblings, family problems with addictions or insanity or abuse or poverty, etc.

Let’s continue to explore ways that your life could have more of that tenderness. Because if you have been craving more sweetness in how people to treat you, there might be some more important put-ins that could end that horrible kind of pain where life seems unreasonably and unpredictably harsh.

Why cut your cord of attachment to God?

God is great! And that’s just the beginning of all of the praise you may have for the All in All.

Nonetheless, it’s possible to have a really disgusting, limiting cord of attachment to God.

This vileness doesn’t come from God directly, of course. It’s like what happens with so many other truly horrible cords of attachment. The degree of being horrible — what I call  “Scoring 10 out of 10 points”  on my Yuckiness Index for Cords of Attachment — is directly proportional to one’s degree of caring about the cordee.

When you’re strongly invested emotionally in a relationship, that’s like driving a car in fifth gear at 80 mph. You’ll respond bigger to bumps on the road.

Compared to what? Compared to a “No big deal” relationship. That would be more akin to driving a car in first gear at 2 mph. Same bump in road, smaller response. You can be quite sure that certain relationships involve major cords of attachment, even if you never think about the cordee usually. That would definitely include at least one form of God.

In the case of God, even an atheist will have a cord of attachment that’s a 10 on the Yuckiness Index. It can be rife with garbage deposited from other sources than God, of course. Same for a cord of attachment to Jesus, to Buddha, to Archangel Michael. Cord items recycle within us 24/7 until the last minutes of a lifetime. We can have horrible messed-up cords of attachment to Divine Beings. Which doesn’t hurt them but us.

For instance, I have had clients who decided to leave the Catholic church. This really, really upset their mothers… to such a degree that these mothers tried seriously hard to re-convert their kids. When this failed, the mothers had nervous breakdowns. For one such client, Joe, guilt from his mother’s emotional breakdown did become part of his cord of attachment to God. Without that bit of cord-cutting, Joe would have kept going through that guilt-ridden dance until the very last minute of his life.

Today, you may notice that the world has not ended – as predicted would happen just a couple of days ago, May 21, 2011. Fear of success, financial self-sabotage… really?

How scary is this?

Yesterday’s guest post by Tracy Tobler was a useful reminder about fear of success. She wrote, “Many desire wealth, but shun it, pushing it away and finding ways to self-sabotage.”

Ouch! This whole topic may be a sore point for you these days, especially if you have been preparing your income tax return. What if your financial news hasn’t been great? For many Americans, the hardest part of filing income taxes each year isn’t the paperwork but the regrets.

How a cord of attachment can stall Empath Empowerment

Decluttering with Energy Spirituality

Oy, I’m such a tosser. I’ll admit it. Both my husband and son are savers. But me, I’m a tosser. So decluttering, physically, has never been a problem for me.

My husband won’t let me forget, when we negotiate seriously over clutter, that once I even tossed the title to my automobile. This resulted in many interesting hours spent with the Dept. of Motor Vehicles in Washington, D.C.
