When People.com gushes over “a photo of Gosling with the most adorably crooked smile,” I react strongly.

I must admit this. As a face reader, I am not thrilled to see a crooked smile on anyone. Even otherwise adorable Ryan Gosling.

Well, yes, I do believe that assessing Enlightenment is one of a human being’s inalienable rights.

My Profiling People Bill of Rights is short. Astounding though this might be to Sarah Palin, nothing is included about the so-called “right” to carry guns. Instead, these are the rights that matter to me:

1. We have the right to read anyone’s written words via Gutenberg literacy.
2. We have the right to read anyone’s energy field, via energetic literacy.
3. We have the right to explore the who-you-be about anyone we like.
4. We have the right to read body language, facial expression, or even do physiognomy (reading faces for character).
5. If it is a public figure, someone who has a website as a teacher, writer, or healer; a movie star or reality show wannabe; a politician or political activist, we don’t only have the right to read that individual privately. We have the right to comment in public.

Face readers, what do you see on Maria Shriver?

When I saw the photo, I felt that I just had to read her.

There was Maria Shriver, pictured in the Washington Post. A big wide smile flashed out at her audience. Cleavage was on display, just a tasteful amount. A very, very good hair day was being had, stylishly long tresses with perfect curls.

Yes, beautiful Maria Shriver looked for all the world like one more famous celeb on stage, joining Oprah’s merry band of famous and rich and inflential and almost inhumanly positive.

Only this face reader could clearly see Shriver’s left eye. The Wariness Index, in my system of face reading, means the shape of the lower half of the eye. The Wariness Index goes from 1-10, with 1 being straight and 10 being really curvy.

Maria’s left eye? Minus 2.

For face reading, the meaning was clear: In her personal life, extreme loyalty to those she has loved. Plus intense distrust of letting anybody into her heart right now.

Shriver recently had one of those most public of infidelity scandals. Her husband, the former Governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger, cavorted around with their housemaid of 20 years, begetting a child that is now a teenager, born just a few days after the birth of Maria’s own child with him.
