• God in the form of an angel.
• God in the form of synchronicity.
• God in the form of your guardian angel.
• Jesus, as in having Jesus ask you, “What would YOU do?” (A riff on the movement called “What would Jesus do?”)

Self-Centered Fear, a transitional concept from Narcotics Anonymous

I applaud anyone who has gone to Narcotics Anonymous even once. This 12-Step Program is a lifeline for so many courageous people in recovery who seek to break free from substance addiction.

One of my cherished long-term clients is GLADYS. She has a history that involves substances. One session at a time, we are moving out STUFF and putting in new understandings, choices, and social skills in alignment with her soul, her strongest individual qualities of Who You Be. (This 50% of move out STUFF and 50% of put-in is, of course, a working definition of Energy Spirituality.)

Today GLADYS mentioned in passing an important concept in Narcotics Anonymous (NA): Self-Centered Fear. And today’s post is a response to this concept, which can be very helpful at a certain stage in recovery but later, well, how often is a human idea useful at every level of consciousness?

Self-Centered Fear

Life grows over-subjective if you smoke marijuana or center your life around cocaine or heroin. The concept of Self-Centered Fear includes false, or irrelevant, concerns that keep the former addict from engaging fully in life.

Speech and action in objective reality always come with risk. As I understand it, Self-Centered Fear is a form of “stinking thinking” that is especially common among people who would seek out Narcotics Anonymous.

At one time, the Self-Centered Fear label really helped GLADYS. She used the concept to identify behavior patterns that were related to her former dependency upon substances. Painful though these patterns were to acknowledge, she needed the clarity as she sought to rebuild her life.

“Get over yourself” is good advice at a certain stage of development. It’s along the lines of Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway. Move from subjective reality into objective reality. Use speech and action, rather than dwelling on fear. However…. Read More »

Because Blog-Buddy Sabine asked a fascinating question that opens up connections between cutting cords of attachment, karma, pursuing Enlightenment and something I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned before, the Yuckiness Index.

If you would be left with no karma in your relationships, would you come back again?

Psychopath-Inspired Quiz for Empaths and HSPs, ANSWERS 1-7

Since psychopaths amount to 1% of people in the world, there’s some consolation in considering that they exist to inspire their polar opposites, Highly Sensitive Persons. Who happen to outnumber them 20 to 1!

Born empaths are even more opposite-ey than Highly Sensitive Persons. A subset of HSPs, empaths have at least one lifelong gift for directly experiencing what it is like to be other people. Unskilled empaths suffer a lot, due to continually taking on STUFF belonging to others. Skilled empaths don’t suffer that way at all.

Unskilled empaths are LESS effective than non-empaths, psychopaths included. While skilled empaths are MORE effective than non-empaths.

As I aimed to show in our Psychopath-Inspired Quiz for Empaths, HSPs (and, especially, empaths) are way different from psychopaths. Before you read the answers, you might want to use that link just provided to take the quiz. (Although just to be clear, that’s only my suggestion. No way will I point a loaded salami at your face, smear you with sauerkraut, guilt trip you, or take other psychopath-type measures, intent on bending you to my will.)

How could God let this happen to me?

Life is either bliss or lessons, sweet key lime pie or puckery lemons. At the time, we may not even consciously know what those lessons are.

That’s when we really feel clobbered. One of the deepest expressions of pain at such times is the question, “How could God let this happen to me?”

An example is the problem described by MYRNA at Comment 280 in our Q&A thread about cords of attachment:

“I have had a very strong affinity for a man. Felt that hankering, borderline-obsession with thinking he is ‘The One.’”

So many of us have been there, just like MYRNA. The craving feels wrong, seems weird, isn’t what we would consciously choose to “work on.” Yet we can’t stop it. Gotta keep thinking about “Lover Boy”…. gaaaaack!

When you stop smoking pot, a Guest Post from Arlene

As a practitioner of Energy Spirituality, I’ve developed some specialties. One is helping people to release addictions. Over the years, I have helped clients release addictions to marijuana, other recreational drugs, alcohol, and sex (the last of these more fashionably called “love addiction”).

No, I’m not an addictions counselor. But I have developed some skills for helping people to permanently move out STUFF, astral-level debris  which otherwise would make it far harder to release an addiction.

Coping when something is wrong energetically

There’s good news and bad news.

You Blog-Buddies are developing energetic literacy.

• You’re becoming aware of the promise of Energy Spirituality, removing STUFF.
• You’re learning about cords of attachment and frozen blocks of energy removed through Energy Release Regression Therapy (an unusual form of Past-Life Regression that directly targets STUFF).
• You’re now aware of various other forms of astral debris, including the skill set I call “Spiritual Cleansing and Protection” for removing psychic coercion, astral entities stuck onto an aura, etc.
• All this is the practical side of interest in New Age and interest in the paranormal — finding ways to heal problems, not merely observe them or speculate or seek the greatest possible psychic-level flash.

Yes, this is very good news. The bad news is that you don’t necessarily own all this knowledge yet.

It’s as if a new type of college major became available and you are college bound. And you want to be a graduate, already. Frustrating!
