Deeper Perception Made Practical

Grand Canyon Changes You

Grand Canyon Changes You!

Here, Blog-Buddies, is a rare occurrence. A poem, yet it’s not my annual one about Christmas. Back from seeing the Grand Canyon!

Waking there at sunrise changes you.

Another time, if you’re lucky, you will chance upon a sunset, freshly painted

just as a full moon rises.

This will open such a chasm

beneath your heart

yet instantaneously bring such healing, such new hope

that you may never recover.

*

Now, what if you should be more fortunate still?

What if you could stand on the Grand Canyon’s rim?

How high might your heart rise then?

Might you fall into nowhere?

*

Canyon space dropping down before you

until your mouth opening, cheeks all emptied,

your eyes open wide as flying saucers:

Thus, it dawns within you

how, suddenly,

you are here, here, here

and everywhere now.

Oops, I mean, to Martin St-Amant. His photo is lovelier if you use this link to see it: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:32_-_Grand_Canyon_-_Ao%C3%BBt_2006.jpg

Also, I recommend this gorgeous photograph of the Grand Canyon:

Oh, I remember all those feelings when I first stood at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. It’s truly awesome. It is timeful and timeless feeling. I was so struck with how long in took to build those layers of rock and then how long it took to erode down, through all of them.

A magnificent place to be face to face with all concepts of time and self. So happy you are finally experiencing that breath taking wonder of the world, Rose!
