Deeper Perception Made Practical

Chakra Databanks, Nadis, and Collective Consciousness

In Joy’s Way, Dr. Brugh Joy recounts a famous moment in the history of New Age. As he recounts in “Joy’s Way: A Map for the Transformational Journey,” the physician had begun exploring the energy fields of his patients. Later, browsing in the Bodhi Tree bookstore in Los Angeles, he chanced upon an illustration in a book on Tantra Yoga.

“My God,” he exclaimed aloud, “I have discovered the chakras.”

Why was it a such big deal that the New Age leader had re-discovered the chakras? Here was 10,000-year-old knowledge, from a venerable tradition of Sanskrit speakers. A tradition dominated by Enlightened sages, renunciates who devoted their lives to meticulous study of vibrational frequencies.

By contrast, Dr. Joy was a post-modern American physician, Western trained, and practiced in techniques that demand results super-quick. As a doctor, he had demands for productivity in terms of householder life.

Although a specialist in internal medicine, Brugh Joy became a teacher of the art of “beinghood” — caring a great deal about the subconscious mind and self-actualization in very human terms.

Evolution for humanity’s collective consciousness

Dr. Joy’s aha! moment amounted to more than a personal milestone. This was an East-Meets-West moment of great significance.

Collective consciousness had shifted to the point where it became possible for an independence-oriented American to integrate a mystical, renunciate-oriented Asian exploration.

Maybe “Collective consciousness” or Jung’s concept of “The Collective Unconscious” seem way too mystical for your tastes. Then you might prefer the more intellectual Western concepts like “The History of Ideas” or “Morphic Fields” or “The Hundredth Monkey Effect” or even the “Sociology of Knowledge.”

Bottom line: Ways that we humans think are intimately personal. Nonetheless, we live in a historical context that includes concepts and understandings that are largely limited by collective consciousness.

Check out how the concept of “childhood” has changed over time. Just this weekend I read a fascinating article by Jonathan Yardley in The Washington Post about Jane Austen’s England. A smelly, dirtier place than I had ever imagined. A society where childhood was over by age 13. (If a young person had even those many years of comparative luxury.)

You Blog-Buddies are pushing the leading edge of human consciousness whenever you learn skills as an empath or do face reading in a humanistic way (rather than as a quick way to judge people or to do fortunetelling) or any time you develop Stage Three Energetic Literacy and use it in everyday life.

So, Blog-Buddies, you may know how it doesn’t feel, moving collective consciousness forward. It feels like nothing. Like no big deal, particularly.

It sure doesn’t feel as though you are doing any big deal kind of pioneering. Yet every bit of that progress adds up in collective consciousness.

Hey, I can relate.

Funny side note about precedents at the storied Bodhi Tree Bookstore in Los Angeles, now gone the way of the dodo. I gave a lecture-demonstration at Bodhi Treethat was described in an article in the Los Angeles Times. In the excerpt below, can you find the distinctly non-glamorous part?

Students “sat in rapt attention —despite white molded plastic chairs — for almost two hours, listening to her describe her craft and watching her read the faces and auras of audience members.”

Since I was reading chakra databanks at the time, the reporter might have noted the historic precedent. Wow, reading nadis in human terms for the first time ever covered by a newspaper reporter? Hey, I didn’t know from nadis. I was just doing my job. No wonder Mary McNamara missed the scoop.

You want glamour? Go to the movies. You want to help to evolve humanity’s collective consciousness. Be willing to do the work, that’s all.

So how did I discover chakra databanks, anyway?

It began around Y2K. For years I had been reading auras with the start of Stage Three Energetic Literacy.

Not quite Stage Three, but what led up to it. You see, Blog-Buddies, I was using the techniques in “Aura Reading Through All Your Senses.”

By then, the method had been trademarked — as it needed to be in order to delineate many points of difference between reading auras in this way and other techniques, especially traditional “See the colours” approaches and lovely (but very different) forms of psychic reading.

By 2000, I had been reading chakras overall, just like other aura readers who had Stage Two Energetic Literacy. Only distinctive components of Stage Three Energetic Literacy had become my regular standard for reading:

  • Making an Energy Sandwich — positioning consciousness at Human Plus Divine
  • Researching crisply and efficiently, with aura reading made flexible by a range of techniques
  • Using aura reading for everyday life, in practical ways

Around that time — not quite sure when, since I was hardly keeping track — I discovered that every major chakra has 50 chakra databanks.

Thus, I started researching these tubes within auras, these open-ended tubes that contained practical information about emotional and spiritual growth. (The field that would later be named “Rosetree Energy Spirituality.”)

Regularly researching those chakra databanks

Researching chakra databanks became standard in my sessions with clients, whether aura research or aura healing and transformation. Reading chakra databanks allowed me to develop the skill sets in books that I wrote about:

Not only have chakra databanks been foundational for my books, sessions, and workshops for some dozen years. But chakra databanks have spread across the world in authorized editions of my books, most recently a contract signed this summer with the Russian publisher Ekxmo for “Use Your Power of Command for Spiritual Cleansing and Protection.”

You get the picture, Blog-Buddies. A picture with loads of skinny little tubes of researchable energy and INFORMATION.  I kept along, reading those tubes in the tradition of Dr. Brugh Joy, exploring energy fields on his patients. When suddenly…

Nadis entered the picture

Similarly astounding moments of East-Meets-West awakening continue to happen, including a recent one at this blog.

Yes, a big aha! moment here at the blog came courtesy of Blog-Buddy David. For any of you historians in the history of ideas, David’s Comment 17 happened on August 5, 2013. He wrote:

“From your work, I’’ve realized there are 2 kinds of tubes, called Nadis in Sanskrit. There is the relatively closed internal network that branches off  from the major and minor chakras. These are sensitive to the environment but are primarily internally referencing and underlie the later nervous, circulatory and lymphatic systems. Kundalini systems primarily focus on the major channels of this network.

“The other type is the open ended tubes that are externally referencing that you call the chakra databanks. These seem to have more to do with the uniqueness of our expression and vary much more than the others. Both kinds of tubes can get plugged up in various ways, much as our blood vessels can get plugged with “plaque” or constriction, for example.”

Thank goodness, David has the kind of intellect to research in this scholarly sort of way. I sure don’t. How I admire David’s erudition, his commitment to depth study, creativity at making syntheses, and that massive analytical clarity!

Sure enough, pursuing his idea, I had a moment not unlike “I have discovered the chakras.”

Nadis are very much like chakra databanks, although the ancient sages did not have access to photos, so they couldn’t come up with cute illustrations like this one from “Magnetize Money with Energetic Literacy.”

Illustrating chakra databanks and, it turns out, nadis

More insights about nadis and chakra databanks

Later David commented here, at “What is Vibrational Re-Positioning in Rosetree Energy Spirituality“:

“I had a download and saw the structure underlying the chakra databanks,– not the colours or content yet. But it put them in some context of what I already knew and a bunch of things gelled.

“Thanks for pointing the way to that, Rose. I look forward to more information than a Christmas ornament.

“While I’’m certainly no expert in nadis, I’’ve never heard a reference to the chakra databanks elsewhere. So yes, I suspect you have made a modern discovery of these very specific structures. There is also some intriguing correspondences with natures alphabet and the long described chakra petals and their related skills.”

What makes it so practical to read chakra databanks?

Nadis belong to an energy medicine approach. Now, I have the highest respect for energy medicine, but this is a method of holistic healing that addresses a person’s needs through the physical body. Even though a practitioner may be absolutely brilliantly perceptive about the human heart, the glory of energy medicine is fixing.

Fixing means that the practitioner brings healing. The client, even for self-healing, approaches the body to physically fix it, with side effects being very possible emotionally. Yet the modality of healing does not specialize in exploring and identifying the human heart. Just as all physicians are not psychiatrists.

Historically, nadis belong to an approach for gaining Enlightenment that also is more about fixing, purifying, making the human machinery run right.

Given how collective consciousness has unfolded, this makes sense. Depth exploration of human individuality and personality are relatively recent refinements.

Even when householders taught or sought Enlightenment in ancient times, the approach didn’t say, “Personal self-actualization.” Renunciate was the ideal, if not the lifestyle.

Renunciate paths, wonderful though they can be, emphasize the Absolute. Models of Renunciate Enlightenment minimize human individuality, drives, yearnings and sacred distinctiveness to each human life. That is what I now characterize as “Renunciate Enlightenment,” anyway, in contrast to my Third Millennium interest in the field, Householder Enlightenment.

Researching chakra databanks allows you to address, and bring healing, to important aspects of householder life, such as:

  • Root Chakra Databank for Making Money
  • Belly Chakra Databank for What One Is Like as a Lover
  • Throat Chakra Databank for Verbal Integrity

Sure enough, traditional work with the nadis is way less personal

Check out how the nadis were used historically! Nadis were explored in an energy medicine kind of way, treating the human energy field as a mechanical system to fix. Here are results of a relative superficial survey I made online:

In Hinduism,  the goal of many of the hatha yoga practices is to purify the nadis, and then to cause the prana and apana to meet and rise up through the sushumna.

In Buddhism, nadis matter for having the body be pervaded by psychic energy.

In Kundalini Yoga, nadis are revered and mysterious: “It is through these Nadis (Sukshma, subtle passages), that the vital force or Pranic current moves or flows. Since they
are made up of subtle matter they cannot be seen by the naked physical eyes and you cannot make any test-tube experiments in the physical plane.”

Oh, really? 😉 I do experiments, complete with Before-and-After Pictures about chakra databanks in every 55-minute session of RES Energy HEALING in Rosetree Energy Spirituality!

In Tibetan medicine, nadis and their structure were the equivalent of today’s energy medicine.

You get the idea!

By contrast, today’s energy spirituality is about personal development and even a path to Enlightenment (for those who desire it).

Collective consciousness has progressed that far. Chakra databanks aren’t just tubes to align or balance. It is very personal, to bring healing to how JOE has withdrawn from making money but could heal the underlying STUFF and receive PUT-IN that aligns with his soul.

Take the example of my client GLADYS. Having nadis work properly is a big deal for GLADYS, even if she will never have the career of Beyoncé.

Only GLADYS would see it in human terms. Forget discussing her Belly Chakra Databank for Sexual Self-Esteem as some mysterious, abstract, sort of tube of energy. Let’s use human language, instead.

GLADYS’S really bad sexual self-esteem isn’t “Just her” but results from specific kinds of astral-level STUFF, which can always, always, always be healed. And can be, in one session of Rosetree Energy Spirituality or maybe more than one, but not that many. And definitely bringing GLADYS into more self-actualization in love for the rest of her life.

Let’s give DAVID the last word here

… before you Blog-Buddies add your comments.

Thanks already to JILL ERIN who were quick to jump on the significance of relating chakra databanks to the nadis in her Comment 7 at a guest post (one she wrote on an entirely different topic).

DAVID has written a brilliant article called “Foundations.” Mostly scholarly in tone, it does include this practical observation:

Reading “the chakra databanks is much superior to just reading the general state and feel of the chakra as a whole.

“You may be able to hear the song but can you correct the false note?

“It is 50 times more precise to read one databank, but most people read only the overall chakra at best.”

    The last word? Oops. 😉

Thanks for highlighting this, Rose. I think it’s significant, moving the energy system from woo-woo mysterious to practical and applied.

I agree that for some years, the renunciate approach has dominated eastern thought. I’d suggest it was part the times that we’ve now moved past. But it’s worth noting that the earlier texts were not like this. The Rk Veda was written mostly by householders (including women) and is full of references to cows, children and even sex.

The energy channels, as you know, can also be used to track progress to Enlightenment. The Hindi example you mention around kundalini is an all-to-common attempt to try to create the effect of progress when the means has been forgotten. The rise of kundalini in the shushumna nadi happens naturally as the Stuff is cleared. Pushing it is the hard and rough way. Preparing the way is the smooth…

I always felt that those cute photo illustrations of the chakra databanks were most effective….they live on in my minds eye long after I viewed them.

And now with their new nadi-esque significance – even more so.

    Bravo, Rose.

    And Bravo David.

Thanks, all. It was great to be able to share the insights. Sometimes, when I post such articles on my blog, I get dead silence. Readers tell me later they didn’t know what to say. 😉

Rose, in your book Aura Reading, the Analytical Awareness gift describes this rather well. Explains why I’m seeing the structure and mechanism before I read them effectively. Better at the abstract than practical. (laughs)

    Rachel says:

    Hi Rose,

I’ve been wondering about chakra databanks and how changes in their strength and quality might affect one’s outer life.

For example, if your chakra databank for ‘Making Money’ is puny and weak, and then you get some healing or you make better choices that strengthen it, does that mean that you automatically attract more opportunities for making money due to your better functioning aura – or does it mean that your strengthened aura is better positioned to support you if you should choose to deliberately and actively seek out opportunities for making money?

I guess it’s a question about the fabled Law of Attraction! Does your strengthened ‘vibe’ work for you automatically, without you having to do anything, or does it just make it easier to go out there and get what you want and have less STUFF holding you back?

Thanks – my apologies if this is another pedantic question arising from that overactive mind of mine….

  11. 11

Great question, RACHEL, and not pedantic at all.

Quick answer, related to your paragraph two: The latter.

If you would like a longer answer, I have good news for you. I wrote an entire book on this topic, Magnetize Money with Energetic Literacy: 10 Secrets for Success and Happiness in the Third Millennium. Available in ebook format as well as paperback!

    Hi All
If you’re interested, I just posted a followup to Foundations, the article linked at the end of Rose’s post. It’s pretty wildly abstract but addresses such questions as why the nadis follow the pattern they do, the process by which we may discover this for ourselves, and on soma, a refined fluid that massively enhances the functioning of the nadis, including the chakra databanks.

    David says:

This is very very very exciting!

The Rose Veda – hah! – David, I love it. Maybe it’s not only Rose who has a talent for naming things! 😉
