Deeper Perception Made Practical

House Representative Gabrielle Giffords, a Comparison Skilled Empath Merge for Contest Winner TERI

Aura reading of Rep. Gabby Giffords

Aura reading of House Rep. Gabby Giffords

Blog-Buddy TERI won a recent contest. Whom was she going to choose for me to profile with energetic literacy? TERI emailed:

“This was a difficult decision for me….

“I chose Michelle Obama. Then, voila! There she was in your newsletter. I chose someone else but decided that an unknown person from Egypt wouldn’t encourage readership at your blog. I settled on Gabrielle Giffords because she has been through so much personally and professionally and she should be well known to your readership. Thank you so much for the opportunity!”

And thanks back to you, TERI. You politically aware American readers may know that Rep.  Giffords was an up-and-coming member of the national House of Representatives when she was shot, along with 18 others, during an attack by a 22-year-old man with severe mental health problems who was sentenced to life in prison without parole.  Six of those people  died.

Giffords was shot in the head, critically wounded. She had to work hard to regain her ability to talk, walk and handle other everyday activities. It has been a struggle to do these even haltingly and with obvious great difficulty.

In honor of TERI, I will do a comparison aura reading, and do this research the deepest way possible, through Skilled Empath Merge. At the end of today’s article, you can find resources for doing your own Skilled Empath Merge , allowing you to use the very same photographs I will here. Plus some background links will be provided for those of you who are still learning the difference between being born as an empath in contrast to learning, or using, a skill set to make the most of your lifelong talent.

Aura Reading Databank at the Root Chakra for Making Contact with Physical Reality

Gabby Giffords before the shooting

Fills the room plus two inches. This degree of glow isn’t usual for Rep. Giffords. But on this occasion physical reality is special. This moment, for her, life is full of “First day of school, ever” joy and pride.

Life seems so full of promise. Gabrielle Giffords feels ready to engage fully, to do her very best. Hopes are high, with optimism taken for granted.

Gabrielle Giffords now

10 feet. Very fragile, yet holding. Remember the nursery rhyme about Humpty Dumpty, who couldn’t be put back together again?

In this chakra databank, Gabby Giffords demonstrates that she has managed to put herself back together again. An amazing achievement. Tremendous pain alternating with unyielding persistence.

Aura Reading Databank at the Belly Chakra for Coordination Between Thought and Action

Technical note, Blog-Buddies: This is not a chakra databank I often read. It’s not usually a big deal. In this case, I’m curious what will show by way of contrast after the brain damage Giffords suffered, and how far she has been able to re-establish stronger mental functioning. My interest in choosing the Solar Plexus Chakra databank to follow? Similar.

Gabby Giffords before the shooting

14 feet. Eager. Again, the glamor of the occasion is strongly felt by the newly installed congresswoman.

A naturally fast reaction time is primed to go faster than ever. Joy galore!

Gabrielle Giffords now

29 miles. Ability to think in the localized way of normal adult humans doesn’t come easily. Thinking and understanding are actually expanded beyond what they were before Gabby Giffords’ brain injury.

But stepping down her speed of thought now, and localizing energetic vibrations, to inhabit her body and physically move it? That’s very hard for her to do, with the body seeming stupid and unresponsive.

Someone else would have given up. Gabby’s relationship to her own body reminds me of the relationship she developed in congress for being a consensus builder.

If she didn’t have such persistence at not giving up on relationships, personally, I doubt she would be walking or talking today. And I write that because of the quality in this chakra databank, not as mere theory.

Aura Reading Databank at the Solar Plexus Chakra for Everyday Thinking

Gabby Giffords before the shooting

24 feet. Mentally clear, Representative Giffords shows a beautiful balance at this chakra databank:

  • Strong awareness of objective reality, where political action can make such a difference
  • A sisterly, heart-based caring about the people she was elected to serve
  • Analytical abilities available, when she is ready to swing into intellect mode. (This chakra databank has a natural coordination with a person’s Solar Plexus Chakra Databank for Analyzing Work Projects and also the one for Analyzing Life.)

Gabrielle Giffords now

7 inches. And also out to the moon.

An amazing kind of coordination is the gift to human adults with normal physical and psychological functioning. We take this for granted, how we think and integrate thoughts right away, with new discoveries over the years supported by neuroplasticity in the brain.

That kind of coordination was smashed with Gabrielle Giffords’ near-fatal gunshot injury.

Although Gabby Giffords has made enormous progress by the time of this photograph, her thinking is a bit faster and bigger and more comprehensive than adults ordinarily have, almost closer to an out-of-body experience.

Meanwhile, the human circuitry for everyday thinking isn’t working less strongly than normal, requiring huge effort. Even small projects of mental focus bring fatigue that makes her feel numb, weak, nearly dead. Not that she lets that stop her from daily try, try again.

Consequently this circuitry is working somewhat strongly by now, with all the triumph over struggle recorded in this chakra databank.

Aura Reading Databank at the Heart Chakra for Emotional Growth

Gabby Giffords before the shooting

Fills the room plus four inches. Such gladness! Enthusiasm for her new work creates an inner cascade of emotional growth.

It’s as though subconsciously (and maybe consciously, too) Giffords is renewing her commitment to be a better person, more worthy of a responsibility that she holds sacred.

Gabrielle Giffords now

18 feet. Gee, it never occurred to me that I would find this. It’s as though this brave woman’s emotional functioning has been brought back to the level of a young girl, maybe about six years old.

The emotional complexity of an adult? It just isn’t there. Gabby Giffords has one emotion at a time, just in the moment; evidently she can only feel what is simple. Certainly she can overload emotionally quite easily.

I don’t know if emotionally it is possible for Gabrielle Giffords to come back much further either. Although with Gabby Giffords, who would dare to set limits?

Anyway, the emotional experience in this chakra databank at the time of this photograph includes positive feelings, like excitement about being with the POTUS and a girl’s very simple feeling of wonder.

Having such an experience, this empath feels such sorrow and loss. Ahough who am I to know the full picture here?

Aura Reading Databank at the Throat Chakra for Verbal Integrity

Gabby Giffords before the shooting

Fills the room. Stifling a giggle. Trying hard to speak and act in a suitably dignified manner while, inwardly, Gabrielle Giffords feels so excited.

Part of the solemn commitment I described in her, researching the Heart Chakra Databank for Emotional Growth from this official photo about becoming a congresswoman. That same sense of sacredness about the political office colors her verbal integrity here.

It is not that she’s prepared to lie. More that she feels held to a higher standard than ever before.

Gabrielle Giffords now

20 feet. Ernest communication places very, very high value on telling the truth.

Aura Reading Databank at the Third Eye Chakra for Connection to Spiritual Source

Gabby Giffords before the shooting

Out to the stars. A strong Divine connection permeates this chakra databank.

It’s a little like what I wrote about in Aura Reading Through All Your Senses in the chapter on sacred ceremonies like marriage. Because this is a sacred ceremony to Rep. Giffords, the light show is magnificent, including this particular Third Eye Chakra databank.

Gabrielle Giffords now

Out to the moon. Divine presence is actually stronger, much stronger, than in the previous photograph.

It’s as though this soul knows that her human experience is being supported very directly by the Divine. As though some fragments of her still remain on earth, living out her human role, while at least one very major portion of Gabrielle Giffords resides elsewhere, vibrantly whole and alive.

The human identity of Gabrielle Giffords, here on earth, brings enormous spiritual grace. What does she give to anyone, just being in a room and shining out this auric modeling?

The energetic broadcast from this chakra databank is heroic , simple, so strongly connected now to Spiritual Source.

Conclusion of this Comparison Skilled Empath Merge

What was I thinking, choosing to do an empath merge when I might have just done aura reading research?

Well, I wanted to know what it was like from the inside,. What was the difference between being Gabby Giffords before she was shot in the head… versus after, so many days into hard-won recovery?

This wasn’t an easy comparison reading for me to do, one chakra databank at a time. What I found wasn’t what I sort-of expected, either, based on earlier experience researching the late Christopher Reeve. But I’m so glad I had the privilege of dropping in for these experiences, this research.

More people than Gabby Giffords have undergone this heroic kind of contribution to collective consciousness. One of our long-time Blog-Buddies, a friend of mine, had to do this after an illness.

Such heroes walking among us, Blog-Buddies. Maybe being reminded of this will inspire the rest of us anew.

Inspired to make each day count, and to keep doing our reasonable best, and to keep gratitude in our hearts.

Background on Empath Empowerment, Energetic  Literacy, and Photo Links

Aura Reading is easy and available to you, reading this article. If you can do the Gutenberg literacy of reading this screen, you can learn energetic literacy as well. Here are some details that may be helpful for you who alreadyt have learned aura reading techniques for reading the energy field from regular photographs, like two different ways to read chakra databanks from regular photographs in Read People Deeper.

Are you among the 1 in 20 people who was born as an empath? If so, I encourage you to develop your Empath Empowerment skills before doing any aura-level research. When you are ready, though, you will do great with aura reading techniques and also with techniques designed expressly for Skilled Empath Merge.

Currently my only book in print for empath coaching is Become The Most Important Person in the Room. I’m busily working on a two-part how-to book series to replace Empowered by Empathy. And wow, will you find techniques galore for Skilled Empath Merge. Yum!

About what you can definitely find now, Blog-Buddies, here are photos to use with “Magic Picture” from Become The Most Important Person in the Room, a solid technique for Skilled Empath Merge that would be just perfect for researching chakra databanks in advance of reading my particular research results.

ANNE DIAMOND, lovely to hear from you. Happy New Year. And you’re welcome.

    David.. says:

    2 terms here.
For her – astonishing determination. A hero indeed.

For Rose – embodied skill. I would not have touched something like this with a 10 foot pole (although there have been a few spontaneous things). Way too much to have to process afterwards. Being able to not just read clearly but be able to touch in and out without picking up Stuff – very impressive.

I’m currently into Part 3 of the Become book on my 30 day journey of discovery. It’s been an unexpected surprise on many levels. For one, the simplicity of the techniques. Also the shift in understanding, reevaluating a whack of life experiences in a whole new light. And the complete surprise, thinking I’ve been avoiding it. But that was just overtly. Realizing that I’m constantly “checking” – peoples, plants, food, traffic, etc. It was so habitual I didn’t even realize it. Dialing it down? A foreign experience. (laughs)

From that perspective, even greater admiration for your skills.

Thank you so much for this Empath Merge! I am in awe of this woman. I already respected her for so many reasons. But this reading showed so much more than I imagined, I am inspired.

I appreciate use of your skills and talents to give us a deeper perspective. I am anxiously awaiting your new book on empathy coaching.

David, in your comment #5 you mention a “Become” book. More information, please.

  6. 6

You’re so welcome ISABELLA, DAVID, and of course TERESA.

TERESA, the empath journey DAVID is referring to is related to Become The Most Important Person in The Room: Your 30-Day Plan for Empath Empowerment.

This is a simple-to-use book for empaths in order to help you become skilled as quickly and comfortably as possible. The system, Empath Empowerment(R), has a lot to it. Even though the tone is light and the writing is casual, this is a powerful skill set that has changed many lives. I’m so glad you are expressing interest.

The how-to for empaths is one toll-free phone call away if you live in the U.S. or Canada: 800-345-6665

Ebook editions are available to, for multiple formats like Nook and Kindle and I-whatever that thingie is.

  7. 7

DAVID, I really want to give you a big thank you for that Comment #4.

First, I always appreciate when people take that bit of time and (effortless) effort to learn to become a Skilled Empath.

Second, thank you for acknowledging the system you have been pursuing. With the increased understanding about empaths since that first English-language how to was published, the good news is that many more people are learning that they are empaths.

Not so great? All sorts of ideas are proposed to help. So it seems to me the next step of serving as empath coach in pop culture is to help people start to think about results and, even, even rigor.

  8. 8

Third — and really a fascinating thread to observe here at the blog courtesy of you, DAVID…

Here is a man who lives with Enlightenment, a state of consciousness. A man who happens to be wired as an empath. An Enlightened man who is getting skills.

Granted, this may totally make sense to you and me, and other Blog-Buddies who are both empaths and on my personal Enlightenment Life List.

But consider the implications! Do any occur to you, DAVID and other Blog-Buddies?

  9. 9
    David.. says:

You’re welcome, Rose. And thank you for pointing us in the right direction. I’d not found such a rich resource around these subjects as yourself. Found out about 8 years ago I was an empath (I can be a little slow 😉 but the instructor only ever talked about it around her specific gifts. I didn’t relate to that.

It is now vastly more clear why becoming skilled is so much more important. Just today a friend wrote, mentioning they’ve stopped healing work because they kept picking up others Stuff. They beautifully described the empath experience but clearly have no clue.

But it’s very much still discovery – not skilled – yet, as i work through the 30 Day program in Become the Most Important Person. (and yes, she does explain the very relevant title) Will also be getting Empowered by Empathy when it’s available again. Amazing what a different light it shines on my life. Struggles that were signs of unskilled gifts.

And yes, it’s obvious this would have been very beneficial to know much sooner. And yes, lots of incomplete or erroneous stuff out there. And lots of people learning energy techniques before they even understand how they are with it.

  10. 10
    David.. says:

Well – enlightenment has nothing to do with skills in the world. We won’t know how to be an astronaut, just because we’re the divine. But skills can certainly enhance it.

The trick with empathic skills is we’re born with them so we develop ways of being with them early on and typically leave them largely unconscious and habitual. I’ve had a lot of subtle experiences, so was a little surprised I didn’t even notice some of the patterns. But they’re so innate and normal that they’re “hidden in plain sight”, ignored as background.

Then when we compare notes with a few of Rose’s simple exercises, it becomes obvious. Lots of doh! moments.

An obvious implication is a much richer, smoother experience of life on the surface, along with that inner peace and happiness. Yummy!

But frankly, I’m still in the taken aback stage @ Day 25. It’s so obvious once it’s pointed out. (laughs)

  11. 11
    David.. says:

I can amplify my admiration for your skills, Rose. Just looking at the photo, there is visceral wince. To be able to do a merge and come out unscathed is impressive indeed.

That Gabby is standing there with a smile on her face and experiencing as you describe, also mighty impressive.

  12. 12
    Suz says:

You have outdone yourself, Rose. How utterly amazing. Thanks for taking such pains to explain what you see.

    Kylie says:

I loved this reading–I have always admired Gabby Giffords, and now admire her even more. I was surprised to find that her emotional functioning took such a hit. But not surprised to find that her spiritual connection is stronger than ever.

My mother died in 2002, of ALS and dimentia. The year before she died, as her caretaker, I experienced how the loss of her mental functioning was surprisingly a gain in other ways. Many traits I thought of as belonging to my mother fell away–uptightness, judgemental behavior, etc.–and what beamed out stronger than ever was her essential lovingness, her mischief, her sense of fun and humor. It was impossible to describe than, as it is now, to people who saw what happened to her as a complete tragedy, but it didn’t feel tragic to me.

I’m not saying what happened to Gabby isn’t tragic-but there are gifts there as well, as your reading shows.

  14. 14
    Kylie says:

The implications of an enlightened person gaining new skills as an empath…I think David hit that one on the head–enlightenment has nothing to do with skills, just as it doesn’t mean one is always right about everything (for example, the Pope, our wonderful president.)

It’s actually a relief to know that there are lots of levels of enlightenment, and always new hills to climb or depths to discover.

  15. 15
    Kylie says:

David, you are inspiring me to read Become the Most Important Person in the Room. It is amazing how simple and powerful the shifts that come about as a result of working with that book.

I just read a book by Michelle Tea, a very poetic lesbian author. She so clearly describes the empathic experience, I felt like I wanted to send her Rose’s books. I’m sure she must be a powerful empath, and I’ll bet she’s tried all kinds of useless methods to handle that experience.

I also had an experience recently of meeting a nurse who I think is going to burn out and choose a new profession soon if she doesn’t learn empath skills. I told her about Rose’s work, hope she will read it.

In my own life, I sometimes wonder how my own experience of living in an ecovillage intentional community would have been different if I had had empath skills before moving there.

For empaths, enlightened or not, mega-talented authors or not–having those skills makes a night and day difference to life.

  16. 16
    Kylie says:

    I meant, re-read!

  17. 17
    Teresa says:

    David and Kylie,

Thank you for your postings. It helps so much to hear your perspective.

I have just recently admitted I was empath. Fortunately I have a mentor that helped me. For a while I denied having empath skills because I simply believed that everyone else had the same experiences I did. I was constantly merging with others, so much so I didn’t know what my own opinion was.

At times the merge was so powerful I was disoriented. I began to believe I was literally insane. I sought out an acupuncturist as a last resort and stumbled onto one of Rose’s apprentices at the time (now a graduate). Linda has taught me to “dial down” and is patiently helping me to heal.

The implications for me is realization that I am not crazy (OK, maybe a little….but in a good way). Getting off the emotional roller coaster of other’s emotions has been the best thing that could happen to me. It has given me…….me! Someone I had never known before.

  18. 18
    David.. says:

Thanks, Kylie and Teresa. Always nice to hear of others experiences. Surprising what is reevaluated.

There is also a certain irony in discovering who this person actually is after all these years and when I’m no longer that.

(in enlightenment, we shift from seeing ourselves as this me or person to our cosmic nature. The me becomes part of the vehicle of expression, kind of like your baby finger.)

It’s sort of like thinking you’ve been driving around in an old Buick and then going through a car wash and discovering it’s actually a Porsche. (laughs)

    Dana says:

What an interesting and inspiring aura reading of Giffords! It’s hard for me to imagine fighting back to regain mental and physical functioning and still not being the same person you were before. I’m so glad she has the divine connection and support she does.

  21. 21
    Kylie says:

Tereza, I’m so happy you found your mentor, and are gaining skills as an empath. I’ve been feeling so good for so long now, that sometimes I forget what I used to feel like–and you described it well. I used to live with a level of brain fog/confusion and distress that is unimaginable to me now.
David I love your description “The me becomes part of the vehicle of expression, kind of like your baby finger”–this is exactly how I feel. I think I am fairly close to enlightenment although not there yet.

I had a close friend visiting this weekend and she was talking about the enneagram and I was thinking that I just don’t strongly relate to any of those types. I realized then that it’s been a long time since I thought about myself in the same way that many other people do. I used to be obsessed with astrology and with finding out who I am through it. I still have a birth chart but it no longer means anything to me. I’m not a Scorpio or a number and it’s not very interesting to me to think about my traits.

I’m so much larger than that and at the same time just part of the cosmos.

Your analogies are perfect also–I especially like the tuned in radio…

  22. 22
    Kylie says:

Thank you Rose! And it’s thanks to you, that that is so.

  23. 23
    Kylie says:

What it means for me…is that even though I am underemployed (I’ve been hunting for a professional job since May) single at 44, have money troubles, and am a warm-loving person who lives in a cold city in the middle of an arctic month…joy can always be found.

  24. 24

KYLIE, close to Enlightenment? Yes, I’ve been telling you that. 🙂

  25. 25
    David.. says:

    Hi Kylie
Thanks. Just keep in mind that it’s not you who is enlightened. It is the awareness that is aware of you that wakes up to itself. The larger sense of self becomes directly aware of itself.

Sounds like you have a good sense of that already, shifting into the larger sense of self, beyond the details.

But it’s one stage deeper. There is the observer that is aware of the person. Then there is the observer that is aware of the observer. You can notice you’re noticing a me. A little more general sense of Self. That is what wakes up to itself, through this apparent form.

(and I’m not describing different things here – just different layers of focus)

  26. 26
    Lara says:

Lol David, I don’t think I have ever experienced what you describe. Either its a language issue, or I am just not so analytically or experientially discriminating. I have never been aware of being an observer of myself.

  27. 27

LARA, lest other Blog-Buddies are laughing out loud or laughing silently or grumbling or even worrying…

I hasten to add to your comment. In my opinion it is totally possible to be spiritually Enlightened and never think of personal identity or life experience in this manner.

DAVID is not just a consciousness nerd, like me. He has a huge background in Hinduism, metaphysics, philosophy, and the finer points of finding consciousness interesting. Far beyond me.

Good for you, if you can relate to DAVID’s Comments 19, 20, and 26. Personally, I do not. I can kind of twirl my awareness inside out and squint and then maybe kind of relate.

But that would be one way complicated internal asana to do for more than a minute.

  28. 28

Does Hillary Clinton experience as described here by beloved and brainy Blog-Buddy DAVID? Or fit many other descriptions you can find on the Internet? Or interviews conducted by Rick Archer at his website, Buddha at the Gas Pump?

Does Hillary emphasize shifts in her consciousness. Or Bill Clinton? Or President and Michelle Obama?

Do other householder folks from my Enlightenment Life List share this sort of experience?

    Not necessarily.

If you are interested in reading the criteria that I use to find (or validate) Enlightenment, check out the links in the main article at this blog about my Enlightenment Life List:

  29. 29

    Whose business is that, anyway?

Enlightenment is part of the great love story. Each of you gets to live your version of it. Along with your version of God.

Enlightenment for you — is it silly? Surprising? Not what you expected? Better than what you expected? Grand? Humbling?

As millions of people living now move into Enlightenment and do it as householders, with a householder emphasis…

    * The plays we will have.
    * The movies we will make.
    * The art we will paint.
    * The dances we will co-create in celebration of it all.

Yet one more reason why it is great to be alive right now!

  30. 30
    Kylie says:

What a wonderful description, thanks Rose.

  31. 31

Bottom line, speaking very seriously in my role as Enlightenment Coach —

You can’t predict what your experience of life will be after crossing the threshold into Enlightenment.

    Only this is likely:

    * You will feel like yourself.
    * That sense of self will be imbued with more Divine flavor than before.
    * You will continue to grow and evolve (especially if you would prefer to do so).
    * Your sense of objective and subjective realities can become crystal clear — if that even matters to you.
    * Something lovely is always within and accessible (unless you are going through something like overwhelming human sorrow or fear.)

  32. 32

Just to clarify from that last comment about “Something lovely”. Meaning something….

    Very personal.

    Could be joy.

Could be feeling loved by God.

Could be feeling as though God is actually looking out through your eyes.

    Could be wonder.

    Could be flow.

Could be a satisfying version of “Whatever.”

Could be something luscious and self-aware about your consciousness.

Could be eternity buzzing in your ears.

Whatever that is may not even matter so much to you, any more than having a hand or fingernails. Right now, Blog-Buddies, aren’t there certain things you are very accustomed to?

  33. 33
    Primmie says:

Oh I love this reading. Or should I write that I love this merge, that sounds odd though. It’s beautiful and moving. Thank you Rose.

Thank you everyone for your comments too. When I have time I must re-read my copy of 30 days.

  34. 34

PRIMMIE, you are so welcome. Appreciated also, your asking about terminology.

What I did could be called a Skilled Empath Merge. Or using energetic literacy.

Or just having fun, in a way that was safe for me because I generally do a maximum of 20 Minutes of Daily Technique Time, Tops. And don’t do unskilled empath merges.

    I use a proper technique.

I love using the word “Proper” to somebody from the U.K.

On one of my trips, I bought a loaf of bread. On the wrapper was detailed copy about how this was a proper loaf of bread and it had been prepared properly.

    Loved it!

  35. 35
    David.. says:

(laughs) OK – outed. And yes, that fine detail may not be noticed at all. But if you’re a nerd about it, some of the fine distinctions becoming increasingly obvious in the mechanics of consciousness becoming.

The key idea is that consciousness wakes up to itself. There is a deeper shift to that larger sense of self that Kylie was commenting on. And it happens, not because a person wakes up to it but because it wakes up to itself.

Occasionally, people who are close to waking catch the shift by hearing this detail. Some incorrect idea has been covering the noticing.

It’s worth noting that when I say “wake up”, it’s different from what Rose means by Enlightenment. In her case, it means waking + clearing the Stuff so the divine can flow. A little more developed.

  36. 36
    David.. says:

At it’s most basic, being an observer just means being conscious that you’re conscious or that you are that awareness. Some people go through a phase where the sense of being an observer is very distinct. For others, not so much.

  37. 37
    Amanda says:

David, I loved reading your description of that carwash shift from Buick to Porsche!

I do understand. For me it’s the shift into the cosmic or Tao nature, rather than identifying with all the heavings of a ‘me’ The identity shifts to that part of us that is outside that, and it’s like clouds parting to reveal blue skies. Lovely.

I like the me bits too though 🙂

  38. 38
    Amanda says:

    Hmm. Or do I?

Often it’s the me bits that get us into trouble and keep us out of being able to really listen, understand and be present in a more compassionate way to life.

I am not against the ‘ego’ but our egoic nature is not us and often provides simply another cloud over our understanding.

My son was close to this yesterday when he complained of people living out imprints rather than being themselves or thinking for themselves.

  39. 39
    Primmie says:

Rose, I’m glad you have fun properly 🙂
