Deeper Perception Made Practical

Billy Porter, as Himself and Also When Playing a Drag Queen on Broadway. A Comparison Aura Reading.

Kinky and courageous, Billy Porter, ready for his aura reading

Blog-Buddies, you’re in for a treat as I play catch-up on our most last contest, What Could Possibly Make This Person Tick? The treat named Billy Porter, one of the stars of “Kinky Boots,” which has won the Tony Award for Best Musical.

Let me give you a warning early on, though. If this were a movie it might be rated a PG-13. Sexual content (of a metaphysical sort) will be included. Oooh!

Also I do get a bit technical when reading the first chakra databank… ’cause I really had to in order to do Billy Porter Justice.

But once I explained that aspect, I didn’t have to keep repeating that sort of thing again and again for the Billy Porter part of the comparison aura reading. So just skip over that part if you find it a snoozer. The rest of this reading shocked me, humbled me, inspired me. Let me know what you think, Commenters!

Porter’s personal Tony Award was won in 2014 for his performance of Lola, the drag queen. Currently he is not in the cast.

Billy Porter was nominated by Blog-Buddy ZELDA. She wrote:

“He’s an amazingly talented Broadway performer, pop singer, film and television actor, and vocal coach.

“After seeing the show, I listened to an interview with Billy Porter and was very impressed. At one point in his career, he was getting sort of typecast as the flamboyant drag queen, but tired of that, which resulted in a bit of a career slump.

“He grew a lot personally and eventually the role of Lola, his dream role, came to him. There’s more to this character and it seems like one of those full-circle kind of experiences. He’s done over 750 performances in the role.”

Bring on today’s aura reading of Billy Porter

Blog-Buddies, if you would like to research Billy Porter using your own skills of energetic literacy, scroll down to the end of today’s article for nuts and bolts.

If so, I’d recommend you do that before reading my aura research, so you won’t be influenced by it. Your perceptions are just as important as mine for learning about the multi-faceted diamond that is ANY human soul.

The photos that Zelda supplied (linked to above) will be used for my comparison reading of this spunky performer.

Root Chakra Databank for Connecting to Objective Reality

Billy Porter as himself

Noting first: In this photo he’s posing, not performing (the way he is in our comparison photograph of him as Lola).

2 inches. Billy Porter is a complex man with a complicated relationship to objective reality. According to this chakra databank, at this time, he doesn’t connect much to reality directly (As, for instance, this chakra databank could function after a bit of aura-level healing, RES-style. Or after this chakra databank would do after any aura-level healing that would be effective for this man. Sigh!)

For now, what is the main reason why this chakra databank is nearly shut down? There is a well established, complicated, energetic subroutine.

(An energetic subroutine is like having a bug in a person’s subconscious computer software. The skill set within RES called “Vibrational Re-Positioning®” addresses this form of STUFF.)

  1. Billy Porter first notes how he feels within himself.
  2. When that’s reasonably okay, he has awareness to spare for how any other people view him at this time, assessing how they might be relating to him.
  3. Only when this is going reasonably well does he have enough presence of mind to especially notice where he is and which physical objects are in the vicinity.

Regarding that sense of self, much of it evidently involves sex.

  • Struggles to be himself and accept himself, sexually.
  • Sexual shame overcome, with “scar tissue” galore.
  • Reacting to how other people see him, and whether or not they have contempt for him, or whether he has become a hero or heroine to them.

In short, Billy Porter is dressed up super-cute here in this photograph, standing in the spotlight. But he doesn’t feel that great being himself.

I have a hunch that he’s one of those actors who really comes to life when he performs, and that’s when he feels most alive. We’ll see what the rest of today’s comparison aura reading reveals.

Suprisingly shy, while not performing, in this particular photograph,

Billy Porter as Lola, a drag queen, in “Kinky Boots”

80 miles. As Lola, ta da! Billy Porter, is performing — in the true Broadway style, giving her performance all that she’s got.

Lola is like the great mother. She proudly embodies the mystery of feminine energy: A creator, a nourisher, a compassionate mother to all.

She is also sexy. Actively sexy.

Really, to be blunt, Blog-Buddies, the simplest way to describe the way that Lola connects to objective reality at the time of this photo is a single word: Vagina.

Picture that word up in lights at the Broadway theory. Top billing, bright as can be: Lola Stars as THE Vagina. 😉

Throat Chakra Databank for Verbal Integrity

Billy Porter as himself

4 inches. Billy Porter is in hiding.

This dear man has had so much experience at being in hiding, sexually, that this is powerfully encoded in his aura as an ongoing drama.

Extremely fascinating! Drama can erupt at any moment! Public hiding is part of it. Public revealing, too! In Billy Porter’s personal relationships, while not performing, there needs to be even more hiding and revealing.

So Billy Porter isn’t exactly a virgin, not when it comes to verbal concealment.

What’s in it for him? Billy Porter is leading such an exciting life, playing with nuances about degrees of hiding himself and his feelings and thoughts.

Then come the ancilliary dramas about how he feels and thinks about each bit of life dialogue.

Speaking to people, not in a theatrical role, Billy Porter has freedom galore to:

  • Hide himself
  • Enjoy exquisitely interesting ways that his feelings and thoughts are complicated by the degree of hiding in that particular situation.

Endlessly fascinating and educational, all this is to Billy Porter.

Billy Porter as Lola, a drag queen, in “Kinky Boots”

Fills the room plus five miles. Loud and proud, that is how Lola communicates truth.

Not just the truth of a scene or a song. Lola is communicating her existential truth as a woman.

Only this isn’t exactly a woman, not along the continuum of feminine energy that I have read. This is a something else. To clarify, let’s start with

The usual continuum of feminine energy

To get the idea of this continuum, picture a line that starts with a very shy, demure, maybe Victorian-style, maiden.

Usually the continuum of femininity would end at the opposite extreme, as a big, brassy woman of experience who has learned how to be active in the world while maintaining a fearless acceptance of her ways of being, knowing, loving, sharing, giving.

Blog-Buddies, I have researched auras of women at so many points along this continuum. And haven’t you encountered many of them in everyday life?

Billy Porter as Lola is far, far out. Lola lives waaaaaay beyond that outrageous end of the continuum. Best I can put it, picture this combo:

  • A strong, proud woman
  • Mixed with an archetypal otherworldiness superimposed on a human form, maybe like the Sphinx (with its lion’s body and human head)
  • Plus add the out-there quality of the biggest parade you have ever seen — maybe a football season parade or the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade or a Mardi Gras parade in New Orleans.

All wrapped up in a sexy red costume, sparking with sequins.

Solar Plexus Chakra Databank for Power Integrity

Billy Porter as himself

2 inches. Considerable rage, resentment, and indignation are stuck in this chakra databank.

At the time of this photograph, Billy Porter doesn’t feel that he owes anything to anybody. So if he says he will do something, honoring that commitment is up to him. I’d expect his default position about this to be “No,” not “Yes.”

Unless someone is actively watching him to make sure that he does what was promised, Billy Porter has zero interest in that other person’s expectations.

Sometimes the motivator for this disconnect is a bit of hatred. Other times it’s contempt.

Often (seems to me) a dynamic occurs in the functioning of this chakra databank, an energetic subroutine where Billy Porter’s conscious awareness moves into the past. How he was badly treated. And that feeling comes to replace conscious thoughts he might otherwise have about saying something he is expected to say or accomplishing what he’s supposed to do (in objective reality).

Billy Porter as Lola, a drag queen, in “Kinky Boots”

40 feet. Always noble, always courageous, Lola always comes through.

No matter how insurmountable the struggle might seem, Lola heroically faces all obstacles and refuses to give in.

She triumphs, a model of efficacy at gaining results in objective reality, admirable fortitude.

Third Eye Chakra Databank for Spiritual Integrity

Billy Porter as himself

6 inches. Billy Porter’s life (so far) isn’t about seeking God or serving God or even serving others.

Instead his life has involved a struggle around personal identity and daring to be himself.

Spiritually, the beauty of his life emphasizes becoming himself. Fearlessly. Not serving people any more than serving a God.

In general, from researching chakra databanks so far from this photo, it seems to me that Billy Porter lives in a highly subjective fashion, making relatively little contact with objective reality. He’s doing this so beautifully, thoroughly, memorably — what a great time he is having with this particular life journey!

And at this displays at a chakra databank that, usually, is about how a person lives his or her highest ideal.

How fascinating that I find his subjective sense of self, injustice, struggle, bravery, etc. — that isn’t just the dominant focus of so many of his chakra databanks. It feels real, as real as a shoe or a boot. As real to him as the cross that a Catholic might place on the wall as a constant call to worship (in a rather different way).

For Billy Porter, spiritual integrity is about this personal focus. Others might call this being “Wrapped up in himself” but to Billy Porter this highest ideal for his life is utterly sacred. And his integrity in living up to this ideal is impeccable.

Billy Porter as Lola, a drag queen, in “Kinky Boots”

80 feet. Noble. Idealistic. Lola will do whatever it takes to accomplish things in the world.

She is the ultimate standup, follow-through, courageous heroine.

High Heart Chakra Databank for Soul Thrill (Expression of Soul)

Billy Porter as himself

80 miles. Billy Porter is having the time of his life, doing just what he has come to earth to accomplish.

More than most people in this world, Billy Porter does have a pretty well defined life purpose.

This is it. Exactly what he does:

Performing and raising consciousness about gender identity, caring enormously about the sexual aspect of life, overcoming sexual shame, claiming his share of human pride and self-respect.

The crowning glory to this chakra databank is a gorgeous saturation of Divine presence. Yes, Billy Porter is living a very specialized kind of lifetime, and like any great theater performer, he is giving this performance absolutely all that he has.

Billy Porter as Lola, a drag queen, in “Kinky Boots”

80 feet. Lola triumphs at being herself and inspiring others.

Always and only, she is herself, authentically herself, fully accepted in this world on her own terms.

Again, I notice that distinctive golden ray of Divine blessing in this chakra databank. It brings an acknowledgment that I can best put into words this way:

“In this human world, ultimately, all is sacred. (Always sacred, that is until each of you no longer requires to participate in these illusions of earth.)

“Yet among the sacred things of this world, and given the spectacularly wonderful creations of every human soul, this one’s expression of soul is especially dear to me.

“Truth is proclaimed by him-her so purely and boldly. This version of truth is needed in this world now.”

Nuts and Bolts about Today’s Aura Reading

Whatever your current level of energetic literacy, you Blog-Buddies are invited to join me by doing your own aura reading, using the same photos used here.

  • I’d recommend the “Reading Auras from Photos” technique in Read People Deeper (Start on Page 35 if you are using the paperback. For the eBook, just search. )
  • Or substitute a Skilled Empath Merge, using the “Magic Picture” technique in Become the Most Important Person in the Room (Start on Page 201, if you’re reading the paperback rather than the eBook).
  • Many of my students who want to use their lifelong talent for reading auras prefer to start with the 100+ techniques in my how-to, Aura Reading Through All Your Senses.

One way or another, isn’t it fascinating to use energetic literacy skills to learn about people? Each and every one of us is so very complex, fascinating, who we are for life (at that level of personal potential that shows in gifts of the soul) and ever changing (as our chakra databanks reveal, moment by moment and day by day).

    Fascinating as always!

    Rosanna Tufts says:

I can see why this would blow you away, how the same chakras are completely different onstage vs. offstage.

It speaks to the dilemma of many performers who become outrageously famous for their onstage or onscreen personas, and then people expect them to be the same in real life, only to find that it’s too much to live up to.

    Marilyn Monroe comes to mind.

    Julie says:

I have learned a lot from this reading. Thanks for the detail, Rose.

I found the continuum of feminine energy interesting, and the theme of hiding.

  4. 4
    Julie says:

It would be interesting to see how RES could help with the subroutines.

Very intriguing, the one at the solar plexus, about being treated badly in the past getting in the way of expected follow-through.

It makes me realize I may have many such glitches in the system. I may be only halfway aware of them.

  5. 5
    Julie says:

“Spiritually, the beauty of his life emphasizes becoming himself. Fearlessly. Not serving people any more than serving a God.”

I can see how this could be just as compelling a focus. And in becoming himself he does a service to others and to God, in the process.

    Julie says:

It must be enormously liberating for him to play this role of Lola, and fascinating, as well. To do the hide-and-reveal, hide-and reveal.

Almost like being Clark Kent and putting on the Superman outfit, then back to Clark Kent:)

  7. 7
    Julie says:

And fun, too, to play the role of heroine – where the heroine comes out in every respect, in every databank!

    Zelda says:

Thanks, Rose, for this reading! It’s fascinating on so many levels.

One is the way in which the themes of “Kinky Boots” mesh with Billy Porter’s life.

  9. 9
    Zelda says:

It’s about being oneself, acceptance of others, a bit of the back story of Lola and how she came to so confidently live out loud.

  10. 10
    Zelda says:

Your reading of Billy as Lola is just spot on in terms of how that character is played in Kinky Boots.

I saw the touring company version of the musical, so another actor played Lola, but the character was absolutely played as you read her performed by Billy.

  11. 11
    Zelda says:

How eye-opening to consider this service Billy Porter has done in playing Lola.

It really makes sense, but I never thought of it in the way you described.

  12. 12
    Zelda says:

I probably would have been stuck on how unfortunate it was that he wasn’t really being himself. But then, what a service he’s done through these performances.

    Such auric modeling!

  13. 13
    Zelda says:

Yes, the continuum of the Divine Feminine is very interesting. I do live near the land of Drag Queens (San Francisco), and though I haven’t hung out with any or been to any shows, I’m struck now by the difference I notice in the Lola character compared to those I’ve seen in clips of performances.

  14. 14
    Zelda says:

There really is a sense of the Divine Feminine that comes through in Lola.

I think it’s in part why Kinky Boots has been so successful. It’s bold and out there and over-the-top, but really very loving, with a lot of sweetness and tenderness. I just love the show.

  15. 15
    Zelda says:

Just reflecting on Billy playing this role as a service, I remember the fun I had preparing 2 Chinese college students I was charged with helping to understand it.

We met to discuss the story and the pertinent vocabulary (stilettos, sequins, drag queens, etc.) and I accompanied them at the show (an acting class field trip).

  16. 16
    Zelda says:

It was very cool to discuss the themes with them and to learn that they thought it was great that Lola was just being herself.

What a great opportunity for discussing some very important, eye-opening ideas with students from another culture.

ZELDA, it was generous of you to share such a gorgeous range of comments. JULIE, perceptive as ever! And KIRA, a delight to hear from you… as always.

ROSANNA TUFTS, thanks to you, too, for commenting here. It is a big deal, I agree, when an actor changes all the way through to the level of a chakra databank. Most don’t manage that though, not even those who are nominated for top Academy Awards for acting.

We’ll be having our annual fiesta of those reviews early in 2016. Meanwhile you can see what I mean by researching these aura readings that are Age of Awakening Movie Reviews.

  18. 18

For a powerful performance there still is difference aplenty right on the surface, such as the qualities emoted, changes to body language, etc.

That is enough to shock audience members who believe in the portrayal of a character and then meet the performer.

  19. 19

That more superficial way of noticing an actor, not necessarily caring much about the auric modeling so long as the more superficial components of a performance seem comvincing — that helps ME to understand why many years the Oscar goes to an actor who didn’t change all the way down to the chakra databanks.

Of course there are plenty of political considerations, personality considerations, as well.
