Deeper Perception Made Practical

New Age Versus NOW Age, The Age of Awakening. Part One.

new age v ersus now age

New Age Versus NOW Age — quite different approaches to protecting yourself.

New Age Versus NOW Age? Well, yes.

Last day, first week, of 2017, this educational blog is moving forth boldly. I’m tackling differences between New Age versus NOW Age with a little Think-About-It Series. Ooh, controversy alert!

New Age Versus NOW Age?

Seems to me, in many respects, some great-sounding New Age ideas, no longer work so great. Definitely, they worked just fine back in the day. Now these same sweet ideas might get us into trouble.

If you’re into protecting yourself energetically, or simply having a better life, take a look at what follows. What doesn’t work in this NOW Age, The Age of Awakening?

So many profound ancient ideas were discovered — and rediscovered — during the New Age Years. (BTW I’d peg that transitional time period lasting from 1980 until December 20, 2012. Afterwards came The Age of Awakening.)

Many beautiful spiritual seekers think, “Let’s keep it all. New Age beliefs still apply. Maybe we can add a few different updates and then we’ll have  Now Age.”

I don’t agree. They’re radically different. Thinking New Age versus NOW Age could help you more than thinking “It’s all so pretty. And really, it’s all the same.”

  • Granted,  most people don’t yet appreciate anything much about this time since The Shift, this so-called “Age of Awakening.”
  • And admittedly, I don’t understand it all yet, either. However, I’ve got some ideas, tested through teaching and helping clients for sessions of Rosetree Energy Spirituality (RES).
  • Looking back over 2016, seems to me that entire year was mostly devoted to publishing a practical book about how to thrive during THIS time, this NOW Age, this Age of Awakening. Bringing through knowledge, helping folks adjust better to our new vibrational freedom. In ways that New Age thinking couldn’t do for us.

So there’s no animosity in my “Versus.” Merely the desire to bring clarity and appropriate discernment.

“Choose Love Over Fear”

Today I’ll share with you a guest post submitted by BERT. Gorgeous spiritual writing with New Age flair. And it contains so much truth. Seems to me, though, a great deal is left out.

What’s left out?

Really important parts, if you’re interested in thriving in this Age of Awakening.

NOW Age ideas. Sometimes they outright contradict the New Age-flavored ideas.

Accordingly, you’re invited to take a look at the following and give it a think (as our British Blog-Buddies might say).

New Age versus NOW Age… Today, what are we to make of inspirational ideas like “Choose love over fear”?

Here are BERT’S thoughts, so beautifully put, and written in such a heartfelt manner. Gee, why could Rose possibly think that much of this could get a person into trouble? Any ideas? (Please comment below. Especially before I share my own views, in our Part Two of this short series.)

(And yes, I wrote the topic headings, just to give you’ all some hints.)

Choosing Love over Fear in a Dangerous World

It’s common knowledge among those who are awake that life is always a choice between love and fear.

In today’s world, however, it appears to be a bit more complicated than that.

  • What if we discover that there are unseen entities that can influence us, entities that resonate with and amplify our fears, and feed off of that fear?
  • What if we discover that some of the most prominent people in the world are in thrall to such entities – astral entities, ET astral entities, and all manner of icky beings?
  • And worse, what if those people develop a mass of followers and admirers who give them energy, and these icky beings feed off that energy and leave the followers ripped off?

Doesn’t that make the world a dangerous place, a messed-up place, a place that needs to be fixed before we can feel safe?

New Age Versus Fear

Well, actually it doesn’t. This is nothing new.  Life has always been symbiotic and multifaceted.  Knowingly or not, unseen life forms have always  influenced us.

It’s sort of like discovering that there are more bacteria in our gut than the total number of human cells in our bodies. And these bacteria feed off of us.

  • The good ones help us to digest our food, and produce nourishing output.  The bad ones produce rotten output.
  • If we eat junk, the nasty bacteria grow and multiply.
  • If we indulge in negative emotions, this creates a chemical environment in our gut that favors the nasties, and they multiply more. They produce more poisons.
  • What’s worse, they release chemicals that make us crave more junk. Thus, the downward spiral continues.

New Age Good Choice Versus Bad Choice

We have a choice, though. If we eat healthy food and engage in healthy emotions and actions, the good bacteria grow and multiply.

They release healthy substances that foster well-being.  Our tastes shift more and more towards what is genuinely good for us.  We become stronger and healthier, which nourishes the good bacteria.

More and more feel-good nourishment is produced. We enjoy life more.

A New Age Equating Astral Beings to Negative Emotions

The same principle applies to unseen (or seen) entities of all types. There are indeed negative entities who feed off of fear, hate, anger, and revulsion:  Stuck spirits, E.T.s, and all manner of ickies.

Not surprisingly, they are fearsome, hateful, and loathsome.  We may not see them, but we can feel them.

They embody–  and are designed to engender — the emotions that they feed on.

When we have fear or hate or anger, they resonate with it, amplify it, and feed on that energy.

Assuming that Astral Entities Are Motivated By Human Emotions

Some astral beings are tricky.

They influence leaders, even spiritual leaders, and feed on the energy of their followers.

The negative emotions may not be so obvious as terror or anger or revulsion.

Ego also comes from fear – fear of not being loved, not being worthy, being abandoned, etc.

Some movements and leaders appear at first glance to have a positive message, but ultimately it is about feeling unworthy, unattractive, unsuccessful, unloved, unrespected.

What happens when the message is “The world is a mess and we need to fix it” or “You are a mess and you need to fix it”? All this is fear based, and the fear-eating entities feed on it.

New Age Creating Fear Versus (See Part Two of this Series)

Unknowingly, many well-meaning teachers, teachings, and movements are creating more fear in the world.

Then the followers must try to rectify the situation by doing or buying or thinking what the leader or movement is peddling.

All that is fear based, and the fear-eating entities feast on it. Resonating with insecurities, amplifying fears of the followers. Feeding off that energy. Gathering more followers in the circle of those affected.

Sounds like a dangerous world, a world that needs to be fixed before we can feel safe, right? In reality, no, not so. We have a choice. We have free will.

Comparing Astral Beings to Humans

The first thing to recognize is that unseen entities of various stripes – stuck spirits, Extra-Terrestrial beings, even astral beings living in a celestial heaven (not in an incarnation) – all of these are really a lot like people.

  • Humans who indulge in fear, hatred, and anger will find themselves surrounded by other people who embody these same emotions. (Low self-esteem, negative self-image, ego, and trying to look better by degrading others are in this realm too.)
  • When we fill our lives with love, joy, and delight, and share all that, we are surrounded by people who embody these realities.

So it is with unseen entities. Like humans, they fly with birds of a feather. The demons cannot grab you and drag you down to Hell.  They can only resonate with you and amplify your negative emotions if choose to go there of your own accord.  They can also push you to find evidence that that downward spiral is the best (or only) choice you have, always because of some external circumstances.

The angels won’t pull you through the gates of Heaven on Earth. They only resonate with the love, joy, and delight you create in your life.  Create love, radiate love, delight in life, and the beings who live on love and delight will be attracted spontaneously.  They will love basking in your radiance. In turn, you will get to bask in theirs.  You will nourish them, and they will nourish you. Sing a celestial song, and the angels will sing along.

Given This New Age Model, What’s Our Choice?

We will always be surrounded by unseen (and seen) beings that feed off the energy we create. The choice we have is what kind of energy to create in life.  That will result in the kind of beings who hang out with us.

We can always find someone to love, someone to appreciate, someone to enjoy, someone to share our delight.

I’m talking about humans here.

We can always find something to delight in, something to enjoy.

We can always find a way to share that joy and delight.

In so doing, we’ll attract not only humans who love living this way, but all the celestial beings who are nourished by the same.

Adding a Related Choice, Still From a New Age Perspective

Back to the ickies for a moment.

We don’t have to pretend they don’t exist.

If we show only compassion for the entities that feed on fear, anger, and hatred, they cannot touch us. They have no sway over us.  We don’t give them anything to feed on.  They’ll go looking for another feeding trough.

Their fearsome appearance and vibes don’t work on us if we choose love and delight in life.  In this case choosing love doesn’t mean we have to like them or even pay attention to them – only that what little attention is paid comes from compassion, not fear.

Are Humans Just Part of a Flow of Entities?

It’s not like we were here first, and then these entities showed up and started interfering with our lives.

Entities of all kinds, and worlds of all kinds, existed before we were born and before the earth was born.

We live in the middle of our own world in time and space, but we only appear to be at the center of the universe from our own limited point of view.

Recently the unseen world and the entities that populate it have become much more visible to many more people. But the astral world and its inhabitants have been there all along.  So have the celestial world and its inhabitants. Humans and the energy they create have always been food for various kinds of unseen beings, whether they be bacteria or astral entities or whatever.

The choice we have is what kind of beings will hang out with us and feed on our energy.  If we choose love, we’ll always be nourishing the angels.

Love Versus Fear, From that New Age Perspective

Choosing love over fear means recognizing that the universe is a well-organized place.

Everything functions according to natural law. There will always be darkness and light, love and fear, up and down, good and evil.

We don’t have to live in fear and trembling that the baddies will take over our lives or take over the world or gain control of the universe.  That only feeds the fear-eating entities.

We have a choice.  We can always choose to create the energies that attract and nourish the beings of light, including ourselves.

What Makes No Difference? (Again, from a New Age Perspective)

The choice of love or fear does not depend on the environment or circumstance.

Sure, the world of today looks much scarier than it did in the past.  We now know more and see more of all manner of fearsome negative entities.  In reality that makes no difference.  We have free will.  We can always choose love over fear.

If you are a candle, or a beacon, or a supernova, it doesn’t matter how dark the surroundings are, there will always be light where you are.

You will always attract beings of light who resonate with your radiance and are nourished by your energy.

Beyond that, you will always resonate with the radiance of the beings of light you attract, in the human and all other realms.

They will always nourish and sustain you, and share your delight in life.

Even in this messed-up world, choosing love over fear is really just as simple as that.

    Hello Bert 🙂

I can see that Rose has put this up as a start point for debate and I do hope this is OK with you, because it can be tough to have our ideas debated.

  2. 2
    Amanda says:

I am looking forward to hearing her side too.

For me, my first impression is that this is all a bit ‘thinky’. That is to say, clear ideas expressed well but a little theoretical.

  3. 3
    Amanda says:

My second response is that it seems to give enormous responsibility to a person to monitor and alter their emotional state.

Which is impossible. We’re all humans and have negative emotions as a natural birthright.

Telling yourself or anyone else that their negative emotions will feed bad bacteria and create entity involvement is not the best way to reassure yourself that life’s actually pretty easy and simple!

    Amanda says:

Being a happy bunny is great but scaring yourself into being a happy bunny just doesn’t work.

Reading this (it was just a skim read) Ikind of want to ask you just to relax and not monitor yourself and life and go and have a nice day.

    So those are my responses.

    🙂

Update: having had a chance to get beyond that initial reaction.

What I am saying above is that we can create quite a lot of resistance to useful facts.

The facts themselves may not be in question but the degree of intensity we bring to them makes a big difference to our quality of life.

  6. 6
    Amanda says:

I would say phrasing them in ways which don’t give a sense of casual choice or using emotionally intense words is, on the whole, unhelpful.

After all, this is an incredibly small part of our lives!

    Lilian says:

    Thanks Amanda. Agreed!

  8. 8
    Lilian says:

As a language note, I think that in the US people use “sure” and “really?” is a more passive aggressive way than we do it the UK. So in the US “sure” and “really?” are more likely to mean “I think you’re an idiot.”

  9. 9
    Lilian says:

I just mean “sure!” and “really?”. Anyways…

So sure, (as in I’ve experienced this myself) it is easier to be aware of astral activity. And yes, that takes time to get used to. And while I’ve been getting used to it I’ve been using my mind and willpower and ability to self monitor to plough through. And while ploughing through it’s nice to have various theories about what is going on.

  10. 10
    Lilian says:

I think by the time I got to Rose, then I was already sick of theories and back to weight lifting to feel more pumped.

  11. 11
    Lilian says:

But a bit of stuff removal helped me rely less on willpower…

The key is really to take a deep breath and to get on with your life. Rather than thinking purely abstract terms about love and fear and energies, think about career options, money, evaluate friendships, find new interests.

  12. 12
    Lilian says:

Also, I believe that all emotions are powerful and useful.

If you don’t listen to anger or fear then you may be disregarding important information. I’ve found that the way forward is in persisting in taking a practical approach.

  13. 13
    Lilian says:

If something is making you afraid or angry there may be some things you can do to manage the situation.

Maybe you need to “have a chat” with someone, or think about leaving a relationship, or start a new one, or find a new job or whatever.

  14. 14
    Lilian says:

Spending time thinking about choosing a particular energy like “love” and “fear” in an astrally abstract sense, instantly lifts me out of the flow of my human life. And that’s time when I could be practising the art of being a human being.

  15. 15
    Lilian says:

Hope that makes sense. I did get the sense at around 2011 that I should change “everything” and things started to really feel different.

But I’ve found that the best thing to do is to try to integrate whatever new awareness in my life and trust the decisions I’d been making for years and years beforehand.

  16. 16
    Lilian says:

Hope that helps, makes some kind of sense and the writing isn’t too terrible. I’m having a bad case of Sunday lazy mindedness.

  17. 17
    Lilian says:

Final thought is that one mistake is not doing more RES sessions on “astral distractions” when I first met Rose. (Not to freak anyone out, but if they know what I mean they may already be a bit freaked out!)

  18. 18
    Lilian says:

Being persistent in humaning is good.

But Rose can also do specific things to make things easier if you have examples of “distracting” experiences that are really bothering you. If you don’t know what I might mean, then you are not missing out!

    Isabella C. says:

Thanks for the thoughtful guest post, Bert.

What makes me uncomfortable about this is the potential for people to blame themselves harshly when they have some sort of astral icky going on.

  20. 20
    Isabella C. says:

From my perspective as an RES practitioner, the thought of someone trying to be more loving in the face of certain kinds of stuff makes me cringe.

It would just make it worse.

  21. 21
    Isabella C. says:

I’d much rather my friends and clients feel what they feel and find ways to use their POWER in the face of such challenges.

  22. 22
    Isabella C. says:

Many of the things going on ARE troubling.

Developing power (including power of command) is what can turn us from snowflakes whipping around in the blizzard to spiritually powerful humans commanding (or settling) the storm.

  23. 23
    Lilian says:

    Isabella, yes!

  24. 24
    Isabella C. says:

Before continuing, I want to note that I am not arguing directly with Bert here, but using his guest post as a jumping off point to share some ideas.

Thanks again to Bert for getting things going.

  25. 25
    Isabella C. says:

About ridding ourselves of fear – I don’t believe in this, really.

Not to be too contrary here, but is running away from fear not just a fear of fear itself? When do we stop running?

  26. 26
    Isabella C. says:

Accepting fear and sometimes facing it (when noble and necessary, not as a hobby) builds courage, strength, resilience, maturity, inner peace and silence, a sense of safety no matter what comes… all manner of inner reward comes from facing things as they are.

  27. 27
    Isabella C. says:

Humbling accepting that you’ve got human emotions like any other.

I speak from a very human-y based value system.

  28. 28
    Isabella C. says:

I really, really, really value the human evolutionary path, which- as so many of us around this blog know- has been so denigrated for so long in so many ways by spiritual seekers.

To the point where having one of the basic human emotions could be considered the problem.

  29. 29
    Isabella C. says:

To the point that it’s considered a humble path, when really it’s quite glorious. For the bravest of the spiritual warriors.

You do have to be humble, but only because right now so many think so little of human beings.

  30. 30
    Isabella C. says:

Bert, I love your emphasis on free will, I think that is so true. I think it’s easy to underestimate our free will at times!

What huge, huge consequences it can have!

  31. 31

    Gloriously true, ISABELLA CATES.

    Thank you.

  32. 32
    Helen says:

I appreciate the perspective that this post provides.

It feels fitting for me, especially since I had a spirit attachment for two decades, from 13 to 32 years old.

I am experiencing life differently, with fresh eyes and mind and emotions after the spirit releasement (facilitated by Isabella) almost 2 weeks ago.

  33. 33
    Helen says:

What I know now that my thirteen year old self did not is that it would be wise not to indulge or wallow in emotional extremes.

Not that I am advocating a lack of acknowledgement or experiencing of emotions.

Just not to let myself get mired in a violent rage or indulge in too much sorrow.

  34. 34
    Helen says:

2017 is truly a new year for me, and I do feel 13 again in so many ways.

Thank you Isabella (And Athena LOL) !!!

  35. 35

HELEN, it’s so sweet of you to share this.

Learning emotional self-acceptance and also emotional balance — these are ongoing opportunities here at Earth School. Important for just about everyone.

  36. 36

As Blog Monitor, ever vigilant about “Whatever impressions are folks getting from reading comments here,” I also would like to add a little technical clarification to HELEN’S Comment #32. In RES we do not call this “Spirit Attachment,” which could be understood in many ways, including what we mean by a “Stuck Spirits Healing.”

Sounds as though you’re referring to “Spirit Releasement.” So, FYI, this healing centerpiece is quite rare in RES sessions. For me, in 2016, I facilitated only 13.

Although I haven’t looked at the stats yet for last year, most likely I did far more than 1,000 session hours. What percentage of that is 13? Not exactly huge.

  37. 37
    Emily T says:

I don’t see life as a choice between love and fear. This dichotomy doesn’t quite make sense to me.

  38. 38
    Emily T says:

We incarnate into animal bodies that have a lot to fear. Death, sickness, injury, the cold (I hate the cold!) and so much more.

Fear is a natural response for humans.

It’s a healthy response in certain situations and to not want to ever experience it could put you in dangerous situations.

  39. 39
    Emily T says:

For me I see fear can push me to protect myself, or take preventative action.

Fear of entities was, I think, a natural response when I just had just heard about it. When I learned skills to prevent this kind of issue and also knew that I could have RES sessions to combat it, the fear subsided as it was no longer necessary.

  40. 40
    Emily T says:

I don’t agree that the parasitic nature of certain entities on Earth right now is a natural, normal thing that we just need to accept.

Our human identities and lives are valuable things that are worthy of being protected and cherished.

  41. 41
    Emily T says:

Of course I want to defend myself from such intruders.

Same as if someone was trying to burgle my house I would not think about loving them but instead call the police.

  42. 42
    Emily T says:

For me life is about learning!

Thank you Bert for bringing up this important topic and being willing to discuss it.

  43. 43
    Julie says:

    Gorgeous comments, here.

Emily T, I love this and have read it several times over:

“Our human identities and lives are valuable things that are worthy of being protected and cherished.”
