Deeper Perception Made Practical

Grounding Personal Energies. Required for Success?

Grounding Personal Energies. Could this New Age goal now be obsolete?

Grounding Personal Energies. Supposedly it’s the key to success, spiritual evolution, energetic protection, & sex appeal!

Well, happy day! Today we’ll question “being grounded.” Because you just might learn something that could serve you far better.

Although let’s face it…

“Grounding” Could Be One of the Sexiest Words for New Agers. (And Recovering New Agers)

Blog-Buddies, you lived through those years. At least some of them. That’s when so many of us were told that grounding was really, really great. Here’s a typical promise about the alleged wonders of grounding:

“Grounding is the mecca of energy medicine and should be the cornerstone practice of your repertoire of healthy energy habits. I qualify grounding as mandatory for highly sensitive empaths but it certainly holds value and promise for those who don’t identify as such.”

(Blog-Buddies, feel free to comment — or complain — about any of this.)

Anyway, those New Age Years began in 1980. Lasting until the Shift into the Age of Awakening on 12/21/12!

During these wild and zany years, grounding became one of the sexiest words around. At least for New Agers who were also spiritual seekers. And many of us still care about grounding, just as we care about “picking up messages.” But we’re living in a different time now. Neither psychic work on the fly nor “grounding” will help us at all.

This article, of course, aims to debunk grounding. What if you’re curious why not to pick up random messages from spirits? Or constantly search for synchronicity? Or keep checking the time, hoping to be part of the 11:11 movement… You might wish to check out articles I’ve written about limiting Technique Time. Since now we’re no longer in the New Age Years. And more than 20 Daily Minutes of Technique Time will likely bring on spiritual addiction.

Back at grounding…

Here’s My Favorite Tale of Grounding Personal Energies

Some of you know may know this from my Spiritually Sparkling Online Workshops. Or from my related how-book for energy healing. Either way, you’ll learn: Back in the day I studied with the religion called Teaching of the Inner Christ. (TIC)

When traveling in Seattle, I realized that I could actually go to one of their church services. So I attended a lovely Sunday service. Who was the minister? Rev. “Gladys,” an adorable young woman.

Simply put, I loved that service. Especially fascinating was something Gladys did that I’d never seen before. Repeatedly, she’d pause during the service. Gracefully, she’d tell us all, “Better check my grounding.”

Then she’d close her eyes and do something taught by TIC: A little visualization intended to ground herself energetically.

What an enchanting role model! Supposedly, this was what we all should do. That Rev. Gladys had the prettiest, daintiest way of getting grounded. And, really, it took her only half a minute. (Presumably, again and again, all her waking hours.)

How inspired I was! For several days following, I’d pause every hour or so. Copying what she did. “Check your grounding,” I’d think.

Maybe that would make me pretty and dainty, totally confident, and seemingly perfect. Just like Rev. Gladys!

Lucky me, though — I couldn’t use my willpower to make myself do that incessantly. And it wasn’t until years later, when I wrote blog posts here about visualizing a golden bubble for “protection”… Only then did I realize that this was a way to create a thought form about personal security.

  • Providing an illusion of safety.
  • Plus sweet-seeming energy busywork
  • Definitely, in hindsight, a total waste of time.

Yoicks, the things we spiritual seekers can do for love!

About Grounding Personal Energies, How’s It Supposed to Help You?

Golly, thus far into this article I have assumed that you know the meaning of the word. But maybe you don’t.

Supposedly energetic grounding involves connecting with the universal flow. Or “restoring your aura colours.” Perhaps visualizing lasers to heal yourself physically. And then there’s always the approach of visualizing protection to keep you safe.

Sigh! What’s my perspective now, informed by certain Really Effective Skills?

“Grounding” means considering your physical self as a kind of ideal. And actively pursuing that ideal.

The notion of grounding invites us to use awareness. Doing some form of Technique Time to watching ourselves and make sure we still have a body. Maybe Mindfulness Meditation.

Some non-duality Enlightenment coaches encourage their followers to “witness” themselves. Detaching from their bodies and realities. Ouch! Then maybe balancing that with some extra grounding work, of course.

Here’s the Big Irony about Grounding Personal Energies

The more time we spend trying to ground ourselves energetically, the more we space ourselves out.

Honestly, it’s just ridiculous. Seeking to be grounded assumes that you’re not already living in your body. Quite spontaneously!

Ridiculous except that I sure know why a person could desperately seek better grounding. Personal experience, in the past.

Why seek to improve your grounding? Because feeling uncomfortable about one’s body is common.

By now I’m more interested in helping people to overcome their discomfort, spaciness, physical perfectionism, etc…. without grounding?

That’s my approach in offering the workshop on “Your Sacred Body” on the last weekend of this month. There, I’ll offer many ways to improve one’s way of living in a physical body. You can read about some of them here.

Meanwhile, I’ll devote the rest of today’s blog post to supplying an Age of Awakening perspective. Presenting something better than grounding personal energies.

If you haven’t already chosen to stop grounding yourself, maybe this will help you. Because you can choose to simply live as a human being, physical body included. Whatever else is a problem, given your relationship to your body, at least you can stop doing unhelpful extras.

In Conclusion

What have you started doing instead, Blog-Buddies?

  • At a certain point did you purposely quit grounding practices?
  • Or did you just find yourself with more of a human life.
  • If you do grounding and shielding every day, how long does it take? Does that include examining your aura for flaws. Is it common for you to urgently need energy healing?

And here’s my favorite question: By now, do you stop several times every hour, like the dainty TIC minister? Fastidious checking up on your energies! Accomplishing what?

Finally, when it comes to asking yourself questions like, “Am I energetically grounded?” Is your answer, “Who cares?”

    Oooh!!! Very exciting!

I am looking forward to doing some aura reading on myself and other people for these databanks.

  2. 2

Yes, KYLIE, this is a definite advantage of gaining Stage 3 Energetic Literacy.

You don’t have to learn how to read auras, Blog-Buddies. But that learning is available to you. Meanwhile, you might find it pretty darned fascinating to know even the concepts of these chakra databanks. Most people are stuck in obsolete Age of Faith ideas of “seeing the colors” and “chakra readings.” While they could just as easily master full energetic literacy, all that people need for loads of personal benefits.

  3. 3

Incidentally, grounding is such a big-deal concept to many people, I’ve written articles about it in the past. You can find them at this link.

However, RES continues to evolve fast — just like you’all and me. Today’s article represents knowledge at the leading edge of RES.

Also, to feel like a thought leader (which IMHO you are, Blog-Buddies), here’s something fun to do. Find any blog post that’s at least 6 weeks old — so that it has factored into search engines. Then search on the full name of one of the chakra databanks. Preferably in quotes. To get you started finding chakra databanks from previous articles, this next link will give you a huge amount of chakra databanks to choose from.

For instance, here’s what I just found after researching “Root Chakra Databank for Presence in the Room” — pretty funny.

Hey, Blog-Buddies, and how funny is this? Suddenly we’re just a few comments away from reaching 51,000 comments here.

Here’s a chunk of blog that might help to bring the concept of “grounding” in a human context. Go over to this blog post.

Then read Comments #52-74. And if what you’re reading seems helpful, in general, you might continue all the way down through Comment #86.

Of course, my critique of this one method is meant to help you gain clarity about many similar methods.

In my view, it’s not “being negative” to help you develop consumer smarts about personal development. We’re living in a post-meditation era. Few people seem to have noticed this yet.

    Clarence says:

Rose, I’ve been worrying since our session yesterday. You were doing Soul Thrill Aura Research for me, remember?

In the research baseline, you pointed out that a few of my chakra databanks weren’t doing well. Am I in aura trouble? Should I book a session immediately so that I can get fixed up?

  9. 9

Blog-Buddies, you may know that I don’t usually allow personal requests for advice or help at my blog. But the former question is a paraphrase of an email sent to me today by a long-term client. He was genuinely worried.

I thought I’d share my answer with you. Just in case any of you are worrying about the state of your auras. Or are toying with the idea of becoming aura perfectionists. 😉 The previous question, from “CLARENCE,” is a version of what my client asked me.

  10. 10

CLARENCE, I can assure you that I didn’t find anything concerning about your aura during your session yesterday.

Please know that I have, sadly or not, become an expert on many significant aura-level problems, and also flagging minor problems that could become major problems if left unattended to.

  11. 11

When do I find out? Within about five minutes of any RES session, including the Skilled Empath Merge.

And you can be sure that if I find such a problem, I drop everything – including whatever the client wanted to do during the session – in order to help.

  12. 12

Or in rareish cases, I will end the session and recommend that the client seek help elsewhere, because the problems are beyond my scope of practice.

  13. 13

Note: Ordinarily, as you may know, I do not invite clients or prospective clients or readers of my books, etc. to become my pen pals via email.

However, if I have a long-term client like CLARENCE, who doesn’t lightly correspond with me, of course I’ll read the email and respond to it.
