Quick, think back to when you first heard of Energy Healing. Or tried it as a consumer. Or, maybe even, learned how to do it.

  1. Before 1980
  2. Sometime between 1980 and the end of 2012
  3. After 2013

Which Answer Applies to You?

Feel free to use a comments box below to share your story.

  • Which of these three answers applies to you? Answer 1. Answer 2. Or Answer 3?
  • What did you start doing for energy healing?
  • Are you still doing it regularly now? Why?
  • If you’re new to commenting at my blog, please know this. You can always comment anonymously.

Using a pseudonym, or different name, is an honorable custom. How can you do that here? Tell the blog monitor (me, Rose Rosetree) the name you prefer. Like, “Call me Ishmael.”

Let me know in the first line of your comment what you would like for your pseudonym. My only request here? Use a real name, not “Anonymous” or (if you’re familiar with my naming custom here) “Gladys” or “Joe.” Whether you’ve read this blog for years or your new to it… Either way, my aim in this blog is to bring more truth into the world. And also, not bore us all.

Interpreting Your Quiz Answer

Answer 1.

You’re a long-term seeker, aren’t you. Ahead of the pack, you discovered the possibility — and the power – of energy healing.

Once you were a leader about personal growth. Have you continued to seek out the best resources around? Or have you, perhaps, not seriously considered anything new? So glad you’ve found today’s blog post!

Answer 2.

You discovered energy healing during the New Age Years. Any time from 1980 until the Shift into the Age of Awakening on 12/21/12. (More about that Shift to come in this article. Including what it could mean for your personal growth. Including how you use today’s resources for energy healing.)

Answer 3.

So, you learned about energy healing during the Age of Awakening. Many of today’s professional healers don’t know much about the fulfillment of the Mayan Prophesy about this time.

Did you know? Mayans called that Shift, “The end of life on earth as we know it.” (My bold-bolding, here.)

Think about it. If you first became an adult, in your own right, after 2012, your answer might well be #3.

Whatever Your Answer

Here’s what I aim to do during this post… and the four in this series that follow.

My contention is simple: Very likely you’re carrying around assumptions about mind-body-spirit. Like a smudges on your eyeglasses — a conceptual kind of overlay related to whether you’re in the Answer 1, or 2, or 3 category.

See comments below where I’ll provide some examples. Inviting you to start thinking about your own story, and maybe sharing some of it here.

Through Most of Human History, What Was Energy Healing?

Think about it. Throughout human history, there have been shamans and psychics, channelers and oracles, medicine men and women. They made their life work energy healing. (And sometimes they also provided guidance.)

When did I first encounter energy healing? Reading a book, back in 1968. It was a book about America’s hugely popular channeler, Edgar Cayce. Most notably, Jess Stearn’s book on “The Sleeping Prophet” gave excerpts from his readings. Often they included medical cures, what today we might call “energy healing.” Like how and why to use a castor oil pack. Today the A.R.E Foundation continues to laud Cayce’s work.

Shamans and psychics, channelers and oracles — what do they have in common? All of them gained their healing power through spirits. Meaning: Astral entities. Or ghosts. Sometimes Extra-Terrestrial Entities. All of them, discarnate beings. Supposedly wiser.

Yes, Supposedly “Wiser”

You see, by now, I’m a skeptic. Back in the New Age Years I wasn’t. But since 2012, I’ve learned a thing or two. Haven’t you also progressed a lot on your human journey since then?

These days, I wonder: How could spirits help us to live more humanly? Do they have noses or feet? Can they even relate to the everyday human sense of smell?

If not, why would we trust them to help us and heal us?

Before 12/21/12, humanity lived in the Age of Faith. For the vast majority of people, either you used state-of-the-art medicine or you died. And how great was that, in antiquity?

Do you know what Greek and Roman doctors used for anesthesia? Standard practice, they’d punch the patient in the jaw. Yep, a good, trustworthy knockout punch!

Otherwise folks went to alternative healers, medicine men and women of their time. One way or another, these healing experts received astral guidance. This is what gave power to their healing.

And this age-old dependence on astral beings for alternative healing… held true before 1980. Even if the healer made vague references to God or “spirit.” But wow!

Popularity of these Ancient Energy Healing Methods EXPLODED During the New Age Years

And why wouldn’t it? Everybody became energy sensitive, aware of auras and even chakras. At least, everybody who wanted it, did become energy sensitive. (Still true today.)

  • Some of us became really proud of our newfound insights into energies and healing.
  • Others of us began to rely on gifted energy healers.
  • And so many folks learned Reiki, Pranic Healing, Eden Energy Medicine, Janet Mentgen’s Healing Touch, etc. Ever since those New Age Years, you’ve had access to a dazzling variety of experts.

And yet, did you notice? Their hands on healing was usually far more effective than their remote healings. Like, you were really smart to go in person.

Like it or not, many expert energy healers were pretty much interchangeable. So why not choose a Reiki healer near you? Some were better than others, but basically all of them used the very same skills.

But What Changed about Energy Healing after 2012?

Mainly, the Age of Awakening happened. Which means, a lot changed. Look, I spent 3 1/2 years figuring out how to summarize all those subtle changes. Telling it like it is. Emphasizing practical skills: How to not just handle the changes but thrive. And folks have told me that my book about it, “The New Strong,” helped them a lot. (For instance, see these examples.)

For today’s article, I’ll mention just one of those very subtle but big-deal changes.

  • Used to be, back in the Age of Faith, energy healers had to work with spirits. That was the best those beautiful energy experts could do.
  • But now, we can facilitate energy healing in a very different way. We can learn how to co-create with God. Including self-healing skills like these.

And that can be a whole lot more effective. Energy Healing today means co-creating with the Divine.

Also, today’s Energy Healing aims to help you self-actualize as the individual you are.

Not just considering you as an energy machine to fix.

When It Mattered, Having Energy Healing Near Me

Before the Shift into the Age of Awakening, it was really smart to go in person. Same as you’d get a haircut in person.

You see, New Age Energy Healing, originating before the Age of Awakening, didn’t stop after the New Age Years. Thousands of energy healers never got the memo. They’re still doing the same skills, and working with spirits, as if nothing has changed.

But I have a different perspective. Since my skills include Rosetree Energy Spirituality Energy READING. All the way to Stage 3 Energetic Literacy, which is the minimum for reliable perception. Something discovered after the Age of Awakening. Like this quote from the Los Angeles Times, describing my work in 2013.

With Age of Awakening skills for Energy Healing, who needs to find a practitioner in your neighborhood? Those in your neighborhood are still using antiquated skills, like “Energy Clearing.” (See more at the YouTube video at the end of this article.)

Consumer tip: Probably you assume that your energy healer has up-to-date skills at reading auras.

Really? Here’s one way to tell. Next time you have a session, ask this: “Would you please read a few of my Root Chakra Databanks?” (Just remember to use the word “databank” and keep it plural.)  Then see what happens.

In my opinion, any effective energy healing today should include this: The healing facilitator must be able to read your chakra databanks.

Today, Better than Energy Healing Near Me? Phone or Skype Sessions

Because today’s experts at Energy Healing don’t need to stay in the same room with you. And they don’t probably don’t drive a horse-and-buggy, either.

Phone or Webcam or calls through Skype? Either way can put you in touch with an expert at today’s energy healing. A high-quality expert, who probably has far more effective skills than the good, sweet people in your neighborhood. Well meaning energy healers using old-fashioned skills.

Seeking energy healing that’s near to where you live? Turns out, it’s outdated.

Maybe today’s quiz challenged your habits. Like it never occurred to you before: When you learned about Energy Healing mattered so much. And how you might be stuck in the old ways. Just as you might have some friends now who got their look together … back in the 1980s or 1990s. Today they still dress like that. Even might have the same hairstyle and makeup.

Perhaps no longer such a good look! Because, hello! It’s 2019.

But once you’ve sampled today’s energy spirituality-type healing? Chances are… you won’t want to go back.

    Ethan says:

As a RES client now for almost 5 years I cannot imagine going back to old New Age anything.

I recommend RES to anyone who wants real life changing results packed with truth value.

  2. 2

Ethan, thank you for being the first to respond. If you have time, I wonder if you chose Answer 1 or 2 or 3.

Each of us living now has a vibrant, interesting story of how we made the passage from the Age of Faith into the Age of Awakening. Historians of the future may be curious hundreds of years in the future. I, for one, am very curious about you Blog-Buddies.

  3. 3

All of us went from an epoch on earth when very few people, statistically, were able to move into Enlightenment. And when self-actulization was an unheard of concept (until some 50 years before the Shift on12/21/12).

Compare that to until now, when millions of people are getting ready to move into Enlightenment, and maybe do it within our lifetimes.

  4. 4

In particular, I’m curious about how each of us came to inhabit an Age of Awakening reality where we know that mind-body-spirit are dynamic and potentially evolving for each of us.

And I do think we’ll discover together, as we move through this thread — elaborated through this blog post and the next four I have planned — that central to living as people of mind-body-spirit… we’ve got some clarity to gain.

  5. 5

Clarity to gain because Age of Faith understandings about MBA aren’t predicated on a distinct sense of sell.

Think about this, for instance: How it’s no stretch at all for you to value your individuality in ways that were unknown (and even unknowable) during the bygone days of shamanic work, Ayurveda, and hands-on healing.

  6. 6

Here’s one example of the vast difference… and enormously vast personal individuation… in energy-related ways of helping people. Namely, the “Nadis.” Known to Enlightenment teachers in India some 10,000 years ago.

In their (for then-) holistic way of helping people to evolve, the ancient sages discerned the Nadis within individual chakras. Different systems evolved — as your favorite search engine can readily show you. On the whole, names for the Nadis were about patterns of energy flow, such as “Ida” and “Pingala.”

  7. 7

How individual was all that? Not.

  8. 8

By contrast, living now, you can learn to read our Age of Awakening equivalent of the “Nadis.” Only they’re called “Chakra Databanks.”

With names like “Root Chakra Databank for Presence in the Room” and “Root Chakra Databank for Making Money” and “Root Chakra Databank for Connection to Objective Reality.”

  9. 9

And you’ve gotta know they’re not just about you as an energy machine, being fixed, in a generic mind-body-spirit way. Since you’ve got a unique “Gift of Your Soul” in every single one of your Chakra Databanks.

Plus you’re evolving minute by minute, and your Chakra Databanks capture that fascinating intelligence about… your capacity for learning here at Earth School.

    Ethan says:

My answer is #2-I was born in 1979 so the New Age hit me pretty quickly and I packed a lot of it in: I did Reiki Level 1, had a psychic on speed dial, read tarot for friends, did a lot of healing teleseminars, had many of the Hay House books, even worked with a shaman in Sedona.

But RES is by far the best thing that happened to me that has me on a productive path.

  11. 11

And so, ETHAN and other Blog-Buddies, it matters a lot (seems to me) about when you first came to understand the concept of holistic health or mind-body-spirit healing.

Times have been changing so fast for decades, consciousness-wise, that you received a powerful first impression. And it could be significantly different from first impressions belonging to the stories of other Blog-Buddies.

  12. 12

I don’t know yet what our Quick Quiz Survey will show up. My hunch is this, for what it’s worth:

If you chose Answer 1, I wonder if your background was deeply spiritual. (Or, maybe sixties-psychedelic.)

  13. 13

Whereas if you chose Answer 2, could be that the New Age interest in astral experience — or deep psychological work — imprinted you. Coloring your sense of where the mbs power originated. And how you could increase that.

  14. 14

By contrast, if you chose Answer 3, maybe you’re used to having a great deal of freedom in how you’ve been using consciousness. And so, for you, the biggest learning about mbs has been to keep on seeking your humanity.

Valuing it. Prizing it. Refusing to be distracted by shallow social connections, like through Facebook, as though these were very deeply human. When they’re so definitely not very human at all. (Curating one’s life on FB, for instance, is a social performance. Not necessarily a strongly felt experience.)

  15. 15

Wonderful leadership twice in one day! Thanks, ETHAN, for your Comment #10. It came in while I was doing some commenting here, as well.

So, it will be interesting to see if you wind up waking up a sense of possibility related to mbs, one that no longer is tinged with the Sedona haze, the Hay House craze for mashing up human aspirations and spirit-guided alternate versions of reality.

  16. 16

I’m looking forward to hearing from more of you, as together we develop a true Age of Awakening perspective that is 0% nostalgia over the real or imagined purity of holistic healing from ancient days.

Perhaps, instead we’ll awaken some 100% soulful and timely understandings; timely because of how snugly they fit the new epoch on earth when we’re living. Each of us finding our way; a way guided by human free will; a way where we grow into our potential stature as God’s grown ups. And, also, an individualistic way to grow in mind-body-spirit that is new for humanity.

  17. 17
    Kylie says:

Answer 2 for me. I first discovered a spiritual bookstore in my college town in 1989, and was thrilled to discover books about astrology and feng shui.

From there I discovered psychological work, eastern religions/spiritual practices, energy medicine, yoga, Hay house authors, crystals, etc.

  18. 18
    Kylie says:

And as Ethan said, I can not imagine going back to New Age anything, after discovering RES around 10 years ago.

  19. 19
    Theodore says:

While I do intend to learn, at this time I don’t have Stage 3 energy literacy.

How aura reading could potentially integrate with and enhance the practice of acupuncture is a matter of great interest to me.

  20. 20

KYLIE, thanks for adding variety here, plus that sweet part about the 10 years.

I find it fascinating that you added such an eclectic range of mind-body-spirit modalities, and in that order. Becoming fascinated with such a range of mbs topics, I’ll be interested in learning some of the easy assumptions and big expectations that peel off… as we go through the next four parts of this blog series.

  21. 21

All of this is intended to help us share our (very varied) illusions about what mind-body-spirit can really achieve. And the price we may pay, sometimes for using methods that emphasize astral experiences over personal growth with a human emphasis.

  22. 22

THEODORE, the application of aura reading to different kinds of professional work in mbs is deeply personal. Yet I think it would be fair to say that for most people, the biggest advantage lies in how developing Stage 3 Energetic Literacy can greatly accelerate the process of gaining Enlightenment.

(In general, that’s due to two things: Learning how to co-create with the Divine. And allowing yourself to let go and experience, rather than adding effort or other unnecessary complications.)

  23. 23

But you’ve done it in the opposite order, THEODORE, “merely” gaining Enlightenment first.

When you’re ready to learn, I think you’ll find that your acupuncture practice will get a boost. And, beyond the ways that you figure out to do a bit of aura reading, before or after you take pulses toward the start of a session, for instance… I’ll have some ideas to share with you.

  24. 24

In general, think of gaining even more insight into your patients — done in a way that enhances your own human enjoyment of providing this powerful mind-BODY-spirit service.

  25. 25
    Theodore says:

    Very exciting prospects, Rose!

I’m very much looking forward to it.

  26. 26

Blog-Buddies, I’m going to give you some examples, based on people I’ve known. A bit of each person’s story, followed by my interpretation of how mbs was understood.

Simply based on the context. You’ll see.

  27. 27

    Answer 1. EXAMPLE A. ANDY

During the 1970s, Andy suffered from a drinking problem. Finally, heroically, he managed to get sober. What got him through? His drumming circle. Meeting with the other guys in that circle, he’d go on energy journeys. Incredibly satisfying. Sometimes even trippy.

  28. 28

Well before the 1980s, ANDY came to think of his drumming as “shamanic journeying.” Following that, everything he learned about mbs had that quality.

An astral quality, I’d call it. Because drinking alcohol brings about an astral-tinged experience. So does shamanic journeying. And so I don’t consider it a coincidence that folks I’ve known like Andy have the habit of understanding everything mbs in terms of psychic energy, astral energy.

  29. 29

    Answer 1. EXAMPLE 2. BETH

Beth was a mediator. A “strong” meditator, one of the millions who became meditation teachers and yoga teachers and Buddhism teachers back in the 1960s. Her search for God became her all in all. A close second? Her quest for Enlightenment.

  30. 30

Consequently, everything Beth discovered to purify her mind-body-spirit system was understood in terms of a spiritual search. And the ultimate purifier was meditation.

I remember vividly a conversation I had with Beth, back in the day. By then it was the 1990s. No longer did I meditate, but she sure did. Since we were still close friends, I asked her advice on a problem that was bothering me a lot. “Don’t you know the answer by now, Rose? Just close your eyes.”

  31. 31

By which Beth meant, “Meditate, obviously. Transcend the problem. Raise your vibrations. That’s the only way to overcome problems.”

Since then I’ve many devoted spiritual seekers like Beth. They’ve taken up many kinds of healing techniques. Always the goal was to move out those last spiritual impurities — impurities that folks like Beth believed were the sole reason they hadn’t yet moved into Enlightenment.

  32. 32

    Answer 2. EXAMPLE 3. CALVIN

In the 1980’s, Calvin was raised to become a devout Catholic. Whenever life disappointed him, he would pray for Divine guidance.

If he’d hear of some new kind of mbs technique, he considered it as a sacred synchronicity. Hadn’t he asked to be shown what would help?

  33. 33

During the New Age years, Calvin was “guided” to do the Reconnection. From that, he found it a hop skip and jump to start doing channeled writings.

He still went to Confession, went to Mass. Because, to him, all this was totally compatible with his religion. Speaking in tongues? Liked Pentecost! And all the energy work to heal his body? All of came from God, far as Calvin was concerned. Likewise with many others I’ve met like him. Where mbs work, without exception, seemed like a Divinely designed shortcut.

  34. 34

    Answer 2. EXAMPLE 4. DOROTHY

Angels as God’s messengers! Of course! This seemed so simple to Dorothy, so right. Everybody she knew was doing energy healing or tapping or psychic development.

  35. 35

Practically just by wishing to be able to vibe out people’s energies, Dorothy found that she could. She had intuitive talent.

And so, when she was ready for her next step of development, what did Dorothy do? Asked her spirit guide.

  36. 36

The name she was told was unfamiliar. But she googled and followed up. Since obedience to God’s messengers would bring on more and more coincidences.

I’ve met many people like Dorothy. Sometimes they shocked me with their lack of discernment. (Or so it seemed to me.) But then they explained that you had to have faith. And especially, due to be talented at naturally reading auras, they just followed their guidance wherever it led.

  37. 37

I’d urge Dorothy to develop discernment. In response she’d tell me to stop being so judgmental. Didn’t everybody have all the answers within them?

If the path felt right, it was right.

  38. 38

    Answer 3. EXAMPLE 5. EMMETT

Emmett’s mom was into crystals and herbs. Her way of being a hippie seemed cool — to her — but, in practice, it wasn’t terribly stable, growing up as a hippie child. Emmett chose a structured path. He chose Pranic Healing. Systematic mbs healing for him!

  39. 39

So many good people I’ve met like Emmett. They figure, if they play by the rules, they’ll be given what they were promised.

And often, as we shall see, energy-based methods of mbs often — not always, but often — promise the moon.

  40. 40

    Answer 3. EXAMPLE 6. FRANCIE

Francie is in therapy. You could say, she’s devoutly in therapy. Every session feels so good, like she’s really getting somewhere.

  41. 41

To Francie, psychotherapy is the ultimate in mind-body-spirit.

She graduated from the School of Oprah, watching religiously. From there, it was an easy step to start becoming her own therapist. And she’s good!

  42. 42

Blog-Buddies, haven’t you too met plenty of people whose mbs loyalties hinge on “understanding my problems.” They’re bright and eager, totally committed to truth.

And for them, the MIND part of mind-body-spirit is all that counts. Therefore, they gravitate toward certain paths and practices. And even if the practitioner doesn’t do therapy, folks like Francie will add it on their own. Like a special sauce.

  43. 43

Back to you, Blog-Buddies, your stories and your personal timeline (relative to when the Age of Faith turned into the Age of Awakening) — do you see how that could have colored your expectations and interests, when it comes to energy healing?

Do share your insights. Because my goal is to help you, and others reading this series of articles, to do some illusion-busting. Allowing you to get much better results than before from whatever you choose for your personal path.

  44. 44
    Jnana says:

The thing is this. What I did before I came to RES may not have been ideal. But it was the only thing on offer.

And it was better than the status quo.

  45. 45
    Jnana says:

I got a leg up at each healing stop I made.

Till I arrived at RES just prior to the Age of Awakening. Only then did the real work start.

  46. 46

JNANA, it’s lovely to read what you’ve shared here. But you still haven’t answered the earlier questions.

For example, about what you did before…. Was it a spiritual practice? Was it energy healing? Was it something in the huge personal growth marketplace that aimed to help with the MIND part of mind-body-spirit healing?

  47. 47

And maybe you had more than one what!

Also, WHEN did you first get started with holistic or spiritual methods to accelerate your personal evolution? Giving Answer 1 or 2 or 3 is what I’m inviting all of you to do here.

  48. 48

If you play along with me here, Blog-Buddies, it will greatly enrich the conversation that we’re having over the rest of these series of comments.

Please, all of you, consider yourself warmly invited to give Answer 1, Answer 2, or Answer 3. Supplying as much extra info as you see fit. But really, just that Answer 1. Or 2. Or 3…. It could become quite relevant to what you learn from the rest of this series.

    John D. R. says:

Rose, Magnetize Money is changing my life by the day. I found it online while researching on star seeds. I answered number 3, I am turning 21 in a couple weeks.

I truly believe that I am special and have a big purpose on this planet. I want to help others. I know riches are in my future, the healing I have done so far is helping me get there. I NEED to meet you someday. Thank you so much for your work.

  50. 50

JOHN D. R., how delightful to hear from you! This blog is an excellent way for us to meet and exchange ideas. And the rest of my books could be a fine way to meet as well — for you, I’d recommend as your next step “The New Strong,” Recommended reading, I think, for anyone living now who’s seeking great achievements.

These days, I’m planning my in-person workshops for 2020. Maybe we can meet at one of them as well.

  51. 51

And thanks, JOHN, for giving Answer 3 here at this thread. My hunch is, that will be a good framework for you to find your way through this series of blog posts on holistic healing.

You’ve begun commenting at a historic experiment here, after so many years of blogging. Because I’ve never before designed such a long series of posts to bring readers through — one chunk at a time — to a new understanding. Because holistic healing is a topic in mainstream thinking that needs a great big refresh (seems to me). I’m about to publish our #2 of 5.

    Julie says:

Answer 2 for me. In 2002.

After one of my parents passed away, I took up yoga classes. Looking to move forward from grief.

  53. 53
    Julie says:

I studied yoga for about ten years after that. Taking classes and weekend workshops at my local yoga center.

I followed the teacher trainee curriculum, not wanting to be a teacher but wanting to grow spiritually and learn as much as I could.

    Julie says:

Also a considered career change woke up questions about life purpose and what to do next in career.

  55. 55

    Rebecca says:

I really appreciate your comments #29 – 40(ish); I helped to clarify a few things for me. I was going to answer “2”, but after reading your examples, I believe that my answer is “1”. When I was in High School (pre-1980), my mother became involved in an evangelical church and I, as a household member, also became actively involved.

Post-1980, however, I just wasn’t enthusiastic about what I always saw as “fear-based’ religion. I didn’t want to be involved because I was afraid to go to Hell, I wanted to be involved because I felt that it was the right thing for me.

  58. 58
    Rebecca says:

In the early 90’s, after separating from my first husband (very much a “you must fit in with the mainstream” kinda guy), I found a new-age book shop and I was fascinated! I learned about astrology, tarot cards, past-life regressions, pendulums, palm reading, channeling.

I picked up “Empowered by Empathy” probably shortly after it was published. While I continued with some of these other practices for awhile, by 2010-ish, I was only working with Rose.

  59. 59
    Rebecca says:

Working with Rose has been so much more rewarding!

When I distill it down, her approach emphasizes self validation. This is the key that I was missing!

  60. 60

JULIE, thanks for sharing your story, and the decidedly spiritual orientation you’ve brought to your quest so far.

(Personal aside: What a startling reminder that I really haven’t known you my whole life!)

  61. 61

REBECCA, thank you for thoughtfully summarizing so much of your seeker’s story in the previous comments.

You have a lot in common with those who’ve written other comments at this thread… which brings up something to say to you and also…

  62. 62
    Jnana says:

    Answer 2

In the early part of that period I was practising yoga like my life depended on it. I don’t really know what pushed me to do it. I did not see it as healing, but that it was. And I hardly ever got sick as a result.

    Jnana says:

Towards the end of the new age years, I learnt pranic healing. It was fun and helpful for a while but ultimately proved inadequate as the instructors could not answer key questions.

And mostly because physical healing was not really what I needed.

  64. 64
    Jnana says:

There was also a whole lot of books I read both from the east and the west during that period.

  65. 65

JULIE, KYLIE, ETHAN — and very likely JOHN D. R., JNANA, and THEODORE, if you Blog-Buddies had gone into more detail.

So far, nobody who’s written here has started with an interest in astral anything (i.e., New Age-style energy healing, seeking purpose, tarot cards, etc.) Instead, you began with an interest in spiritual growth. When that stalled, you were swept up in the tidal wave of woo-woo interests during that final accelerated, veil-thinning period of the New Age Years.

  66. 66

And then you found Energy Spirituality. This, of course, is an Age of Awakening system for personal growth and spiritual awakening, using energy techniques that work now. (In the Age of Awakening.)

Techniques that do involve neither psychic work (taking guidance from spirits) nor seeking answers in the manner of psychotherapy (also astral-dependent, as become clearer as we proceed through this series of five articles).

  67. 67

Whatever, you’ve studied with Energy Spirituality books or workshops; whatever you’ve gained in sessions… it could count as holistic. Yet it has always involved co-creating with the Divine.

And not — as you sagely noted, REBECCA — begging God for mercy while mostly aiming to avoid Hell. 😉

  68. 68

JNANA, thanks for adding your wonderful Comments #62-64. I was busily responding to what had come in so far.

So, your quest — as described here — was primarily about mind-BODY-spirit. Pranic Healing, as I’ve researched it, was one of the sweet New Age technologies that was presented as “spiritual.” But since humanity moved into the Age of Awakening, it has become difficult for teachers and students to avoid astral influences.

  69. 69

I think you’ll find today’s post (#2 of this series) interesting, for points of comparison. And then the big quiz that follows (Post #3), and its answers (in Posts #4 and 5)…

All of these articles can help you Blog-Buddies to evaluate — or re-evaluate — techniques for healing in mind-BODY-spirit.

  70. 70

Of course, JNANA and other Blog-Buddies, you’re welcome to nominate teachers of Pranic Healing (and other luminaries of holistic healing) for my Enlightenment Life List.

Some have been involved in systems like Pranic Healing for decades. If it works as well as is claimed, their auras ought to be doing really well, right?

    Emily Turner says:

Answer 2 for me… in 2003 when I was 13. It was books on crystals, Wicca, New Age authors. Practicing exercises from the Power of Now and follow on books.

Later meditation, angel cards. I wasn’t a very discerning consumer of these things.

  72. 72
    Emily Turner says:

Then even later, different styles of meditation, then the yoga class at university very briefly in 2008 which had a teacher who was a monk of some sort.

  73. 73
    Emily Turner says:

Then at the same time, being very depressed, I started trying anything that came recommended.

Psychics, people who supposedly channeled archangels, other types of meditation, then people who claimed to cut cords of attachment or read the akashic records, medical intuitives…

  74. 74
    Emily Turner says:

Nothing helped much or for very long.

Apart from the yoga at the time which was the only stabilising influence I had before I dropped out of university.

  75. 75
    Emily Turner says:

Then, in 2012… you came to London Rose and I had a session with you in person. I remember going home on the tube happier (full of joy in fact) than I ever remembered feeling before.

It might have been in-person, but that was lucky (for me). I soon started having Skype sessions and now energy spirituality would be my only choice.

  76. 76

Oh, EMILY. How could you be full of discernment back then when you were chasing your destiny to move into Enlightenment, and to arrive while still so very young? And what a moving story — thank you for sharing it.

On a lighter note, you’ll bring so much personal perspective to the rest of this series: The promises of mbs, in contrast to how so many systems changed after the Shift into the Age of Awakening.

  77. 77

A high proportion of Energy Spirituality clients and students have been like us, EMILY, so game!

And more than game. As if Self-Realization were the only game in town.

  78. 78

And what history we’ve lived through… already. Far as I understand it, Earth School was designed long ago to offer big-time spiritual learning, over thousands of years, with an Age of Faith quality.

And then to go through the glitzy-wonder-seeking New Age Years… such a privilege for each of us to have experienced, even if we personally spent those years by doing a lot of crying, etc.

  79. 79

Now here we are, EMILY and other Blog-Buddies, and we’re getting to pioneer this subtly-different Age of Awakening.

At this blog and website in general, and this 5-post series in particular, together we’re bringing the discernment of energetic literacy, and all the rest. Such a wild ride we’re on. Words cannot express how thrilled I am, not only to take this wild ride but to take it with each of you!

    Jnana says:

Pranic healing is not meant to replace orthodox medicine but rather to complement it.

I have already nominated the highest-level teachers of pranic healing to the Enlightenment Life List. Only one made it.

  81. 81

Exactly, JNANA. Our next three blog posts of this series are about what’s called “Complimentary Medicine” or “Holistic Medicine” or “Alternative Medicine.”

You’ve given us a fine segue into tomorrow’s new blog post.

    Will says:

For me, it’s answer #2, “Sometime between 1980 and the end of 2012.”

  83. 83
    Will says:

    To answer your other questions…

What did you start doing for energy healing?…. I don’t remember the first thing I did, exactly, but in the early days I read self-help books that were on offer (Wayne Dyer, Deepak Chopra, etc, at the time).

  84. 84
    Will says:

I tried the Bible a couple of times but didn’t get far. 🙂

  85. 85
    Will says:

In terms of techniques I started with at least one meditation technique (connecting up with the Divine, I think, looking back), and then moved on to New Age, more astral techniques.

  86. 86
    Will says:

Are you still doing it regularly now? Why?

No, don’t need it anymore. Most of the techniques didn’t give me the results I wanted, or they were just useful for a brief time.

  87. 87

WILL, you were really in the thick of things. Growing up splat! During the so-tumultuous New Age years.

Knowing you as I do, it’s fascinating that your experiences were mostly meh — and yet you’re one of the most talented students I’ve ever taught. Guess your soul wasn’t interested in devoting this lifetime to astral exploration when you could have been co-creating with the Divine, doing various Energy Spirituality techniques.

    Liane says:

Quiz answer for me is #2.

Freshly disillusioned from church, religion, and Christianity, I thought I was giving myself a break from It did not occur to me I was receiving a New Age education as I tuned in to the Oprah show on a daily basis.

  89. 89
    Liane says:

My goodness, it was self-help this and self-help that, talk-talk-talk, blah, blah, blah.

I did almost everything that appealed to my growing hunger for the next thing that might fix me.

  90. 90
    Liane says:

    In 2011 I became a massage therapist.

Oh, my, all the new-New Age things I learned in school!

  91. 91
    Liane says:

Bringing all my new found knowledge home and doing my best to integrate them in to my new practice.

    Well, yuck. It was awful.

  92. 92
    Liane says:

Fast forward to now, several years into RES (and many sessions later…), my massage practice reflects my life.

    Clean. Simple. Human. No woo-woo.

  93. 93
    Liane says:

I’m a much better m.t. for having cleaned up my act. Thanks Rose!

  94. 94

LIANE, out of your entire magnificent series of comments here, the most important might be that #88. Think for a moment of how many millions have been — or will be — in your exact same position:

Finally realizing that those harsh Fundamentalist rules can be optional. That life need not be dominated by fear of Hell. Maybe that Jesus taught about love, not bigotry.

  95. 95

And then where is there for you to run, while running away? The New Age trends in Collective Consciousness. Or the Pop Psych trends in Collective Consciousness.

If you think that Massage Therapy School is the only place where sincere teachers pushed you into the mainstream ideas of mind-body-spirit???? Well, think again.

  96. 96

I wonder how long it will be before deeply spiritual people learn that they can leave behind both the harsh religious attempts at safety, the spirit-laden remains of New Ageism, and a brilliant method for analyzing every little thing, no matter how big a waste of time that turns out to be, a.k.a. Pop Psychology.

  97. 97

Funnily enough, folks in any of those groups may believe they’re doing something virtuous and wise, calling other people Narcissists!

  98. 98

Now it’s possible to use clean-and-powerful techniques for physical health, emotional growth, spiritual awakening.

Sometimes based in human experience, as with our 10+ dependable ways to get help with physical healing.
And sometimes co-creating with the Divine, as in Energy Spirituality.
